Fanfiction is supposed to be cringy. You're allowed to write bad. You're allowed to be cringe. Fanfiction is supposed to be self indulgent. You're allowed to be cringe. Let yourself be cringe. Fanfiction is supposed to be fun. Stop putting arbitrary rules on yourself and be free.

Too frequently these days I find myself not doing things in fear of being cringey, so please aak yourself this question:

Is it cringe, or is it genuine?

It's hard to do genuine things, because it means putting your true self out there, and sometimes we don't like that self. And so, we call it cringe to make fun of it, hoping people will laugh with us instead of at us.

PLEASE don't equate being genuine with being cringe. Being genuine is writing and drawing self-indulgent stuff, rambling in the tags of someone else's post or commenting five times on a row. Being cringe is making fun of someone else's work, stealing art and being an asshole to others.

Don't be cringe. Be genuine.

Write that idea that you're rotating in your brain.
