Doing some history research for my upcoming Ebook and found this awesome article from the Chicago Tribune, Dec. 22, 1909. Text (in the left column) says “A corset steel probably saved the life of Miss Ethel Eitelhuber, 30 years old … when a shot was fired through a bedroom window in her home last evening in an attempt to kill her.” Perhaps more surprising is the article directly to the right of it, where a domestic dispute case was dismissed in court. The judge ruled in favor of the husband, saying the husband was justified after learning that the man’s wife put her cold feet on his back in bed.
