I wish this feeling upon everyone who wants to wear a dress, its really the best
“At the dances I was one of the most untiring and gayest. One evening a cousin of Sasha, a young boy, took me aside. With a grave face, as if he were about to announce the death of a dear comrade, he whispered to me that it did not behoove an agitator to dance. Certainly not with such reckless abandon, anyway. It was undignified for one who was on the way to become a force in the anarchist movement. My frivolity would only hurt the Cause. I grew furious at the impudent interference of the boy. I told him to mind his own business. I was tired of having the Cause constantly thrown into my face.
I did not believe that a Cause which stood for a beautiful ideal, for anarchism, for release and freedom from convention and prejudice, should demand the denial of life and joy. I insisted that our Cause could not expect me to become a nun and that the movement would not be turned into a cloister. If it meant that, I did not want it. “I want freedom, the right to self-expression, everybody’s right to beautiful, radiant things.” Anarchism meant that to me, and I would live it in spite of the whole world — prisons, persecution, everything. Yes, even in spite of the condemnation of my own closest comrades I would live my beautiful ideal.”
-Emma Goldman
didnt she literally say “a revolution in which i cant dance isnt my revolution” ?
Me: WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT SOME WORDS ARE SPIKY OR SOME COLOURS ARE UNTRUSTWORTHY
Husband: BECAUSE NOTHING YOU SAID MAKES SENSE
Me: ....wait. I thought I didn't have synesthesia because I don't see colours when I hear numbers...I need to look this up
Me: .......OH
Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait
Wait.
So um. Does there have to be a consistent relationship between stimulus and sense?
Like. When I listen to a song, and associate bits of the sound with such-and-such colours as one does (THAT's probably normal lmao?), I might listen to the same chorus three times in the song but associate each with a different combination of colours - just now, for example, I was listening to a song where the male singer's voice was dark green and the female singer's was sort of orchid purple, in vibes, you get it, and then in the second chorus the female singer's voice was suddenly a more bluish deep green and the man's voice felt like a more pinkish purple underneath hers? Or sometimes I don't feel strong associations between music and colours at all?
So like does it have to be. The same. What I'm saying is do all trumpets have to sound orange?
No associating music with colours is not an everybody thing
Sounds like it could be associate type but I'm clearly not an expert
I absolutely do the colors. It’s the actual notes. C is a shade of brown (lighter as you go up the octaves) and E natural is a pale yellow and G natural is a sort of papaya color so the C major tonic chord is a nice autumnal palette. F, however, is green, A and A flat are different shades of violet, so the F major and minor chords are cool and moody. And D is a deep sunset red, making the D major and minor chords really sort of... garish. I just work here.
About the "some words are spiky" thing, that's an established phenomenon in almost all human cultures! They tested it with this test: you look at the shapes below and decide which is named "Bouba" and which is "Kiki"
The vast majority of people from all cultures agree that the left is Kiki, and the right is Bouba. Even if they don't use the Latin alphabet (where you could say the shapes have something in common with the letters at the beginning of the name). It was first described by Wolfgang Köhler way back in 1929!
As for some colours being untrustworthy, there are certain colours that are almost universally hated. Pantone 448-C had been top of the leaderboard for a while now!
It's kind of the colour of baby poop or duck poop, so you can see why. It most likely activates our disgust response.
@copperplatebeech probably does have some kind of synaesthesia, though. A strong, consistent colour association with individual musical notes like that is the sort of thing synaesthetes typically have! I'm not a synaesthete myself, but I have vague associations of colour and sound (a song will sound brown or blue or purple), but it's changeable depending on my mood and can quite often be just the colour of the album or track art.
People with synaesthesia have the kind of consistency that Copper has! Sometimes it's numbers or letters of the alphabet, and I once knew someone who had an association between direction and the dates of the year (today's date was dead ahead, six months ago was behind him) and colour association for the day of the week. We tested him a bunch (what day was April 1st, 1997? etc) and for any date he'd been alive for he knew instantly because of the colour code.
My original post doesn't go into it in detail but it's more then that and like I can talk certain words are smooth and others are the consistency of pudding and the certain colours are untrustworthy I believe I said I hated pale green because I felt it was up to something and I like sky blue because it feels soft like a hug
I'm not explaining it well but sometimes I pick a word or a number while writing based on how nice or bad it "feels" to "touch" and I am told most people don't have these involuntary associations running through their head all the time (also a lot of my associations don't match up like that one up there that you said most people hate I think "shifty but supportive" )
for me, time with the exception of the actual clock progresses counter clockwise. Its not possible to imagine years any other way for me than these oval loops, were winter and summer are long and spring and fall are shorter. And then the way that the years fold, its like funny bc 1900 to 1990 go straight in front of you, at 1990 it turns left and goes up a pair of stairs at 2000 and then it does a complete U-turn at 2010 and goes perpetually upstairs from then on.

TERFs are mad about this. Of course. 🙄
Sorry, can’t hear you over how much this blog supports bisexual guys. 💖💜💙
I 100% support bisexual guys.
Bet I’ll support em.
hell yeah
At Target this lady told her son he couldn’t have a Wonder Woman doll because “that’s for girls” and then bought her daughter the same one. It got me thinking about how often I see people bar young boys from appreciating girls/women as protagonists and heroes, and my own experience with it as a kid.

shout out to all the people who identify with gifted kid burnout syndrome who are probably just neurodivergent but werent diagnosed as a child, who used to devour books like it was nothing and never really understood why the protagonist would leave their cool fantasy world behind to go back home at the end of the story, and who are now extremely disappointed in reality and use escapism as their primary coping mechanism. how’s that bisexuality and deep-rooted anger at the school system going for you?
op you couldve jus come to my house n punched me in the face

whoever came up with strapping a dagger to your upper thigh knew exactly what they were doing. they weren’t thinking about self defence.
if you ever think you are bad at anatomy
this is official league of legends art
In a way I kind of respect this, because I feel like I know exactly how it happened. I don’t think it was the result of horniness taking precedence over reality. I think whomever designed this sketched the body and then realized they had to fit both a head and a gun the size of a Buick Enclave into a set amount of space, and just stared at it in silence for a solid two and a half, three minutes, and then said aloud “I’m not getting paid enough to erase shit” and just crammed everything in there and hit send because they knew the person in charge of signing off on the official art was going to see tits and give it a thumbs up. Like, we’ve all had that Friday.
God this is such a mood (I've never been to an Ivy League college like this guy but I've been exposed to the same logic taking econ in community college lol)
transcript:
here's why i left economics. so, when i was a freshman at brown university, i took an econ class called "income, wealth and health inequality in the united states." this class was taught by president of brown university, christina paxson, and we spent the entire semester learning how to study inequality. and then, at the end of the course, paxson invited us all back to her 2 million dollar mansion, pictured here, for a nice catered dinner, with literal servants. and this experience, this irony, taught me that economists fundamentally view inequality the wrong way. they think about is as a natural fixture of our environment, something that we aren't implicated in, something that we can study for a semester and then go back to our mansions and enjoy dinner. something that is just there to study as scientists. and that is not true. inequality is a product of specific actions, behaviours, structures, and systems, just like this house, and the way that econ focuses distracts from the question of what the fuck we're supposed to do.
And on that thought, I have a lot to say about the theme of identity throughout the Discworld in general. In every book, even the earlier, less dark ones, there’s a constant theme of being true to yourself and doing what you think is right, no matter what other people tell you, no matter what the world throws at you, no matter how life tries to wear you down.
It might be Rincewind just knowing he’s a wizard. It might be Granny Weatherwax standing in a world of mirrors and thinking it’s a trick question when she’s asked to identify which one is real, because obviously it’s her. It might be Vimes knowing he won’t let good men die even if history says that’s what happens, because it can never be what Sam Vimes says happens.
But the lesson is always the same: whoever you are inside, whatever you believe yourself to be, that is you, and nobody gets to steal that from you. Words in the heart cannot be taken.
Apartment hunting has shown me that so many kids my age and younger openly broadcast that they are running away from abusive homes and that they are LGBT. I sympathize completely, but you do not under any circumstances need to be on a roommate finder website telling strangers on the internet that you are part of a vulnerable minority with no one back home who cares what happens to you... just say you are moving out, end of. Once you get to trust someone you live with then you can share the backstory. Internet safety is something that still matters.
You do not need to disclose this information to anyone, ever, and in fact, you should not in most cases. People can and will take advantage of you.
If it is important to you to have roommates that are LGBT friendly (i.e., you don’t want to have to go back into the closet because you realize your new straight roommate is actually sketchy), find a LGBT group for whatever city and look for roommates there. Look for apartment postings by other LGBT people looking for a roommate. You can also explore online communities of other abuse survivors for support there. Ideally, do this all as anonymously as you can. But do not spontaneously disclose this information about yourself on a roommate finder website, because there are people out there who prey on the vulnerable and will be looking specifically for someone like you to take advantage of.
If you’re contacting apartment complexes/landlords on your own, you also don’t need to give your personal information beyond your name/what they need for a credit check. You don’t have to explain why you don’t have a guarantor; you can just say you don’t have one. You don’t have to explain why you need an immediate move-in date; you can just say you would like to move ASAP.
I know that it’s common to use social media to vent and reach out for support when you’re not getting it in the real world. But it’s also very important that you do not do it in a way where people with malicious intent could trace your online presence back to your school, your work, your actual address. Keep safe, my friends. <3
