Au where Phantom caught Tim sneaking around Gotham at night and asked him what on earth he thought he was doing. They argue until they hear something from the location of the batmobile and Danny rushes over to see what was going on with Tim following behind..
There they caught Jason removing Batmans tires. They all just kinda stared at each other for a minute before Danny busted out laughing. Tim tried to talk Jason out of it and before Danny just walked over and started helping Jason out with his powers.
Of course thats when Batman shows up and all three are in trouble and...subsequently adopted
Alright I actually have THOUGHTS and this is where they all started.
Basic Outline:
- Danny runs away from home and is living in Gotham on the streets of Crime Alley where he finds Jason living on his own as well.
- Tim, ever the nutcase, ends up spending a lot of time wandering around dark alleys at the ripe age of seven, so Danny takes to looking after him as well.
- When B offers to take them in, Danny doesnât want to, but he realizes that this is probably Jasonâs best shot at a good life, so he stays as well.
- When Jason finds out about his Bio Mother, he originally plans to go alone, but Danny convinces him to let him follow. Because of this, Danny is able to recognize that something is seriously wrong and manages to get there in time to save his life, but not until after Jason is beaten half to death with a crowbar.
- Danny kills the Joker and Jasonâs bio mother. Bruce, upon learning this, turns Danny into the police, even going so far as to give them the cuffs needed to hold him. He promises him that heâll do whatever it takes to keep him safe, that heâll get a minimal sentence the he should just serve for his own soul.
- But Danny isnât safe. He gets handed over to the GIW without the familyâs knowledge and spends the next seven years.
- Meanwhile, Jason is back in Gotham, the injuries from that night leaving him with permanent paralysis on the left side of his body. He gives up being Robin to focus on physical therapy and academics, always wondering why Danny has completely cut contact with him.
- He and Tim eventually team up to try and figure out what is going on. When they finally know about the GIW and even pin down the location he was being held, they discover that Danny is missing, presumed shattered.
- Phantom, meanwhile, has been building strength in the infinite realm. The torture he endured leaves him with more than a few screws loose and a desperate need to protect his family from the world that had so thoroughly destroyed him. So he kidnaps his brothers, now including Damien who has never met this man in his life, trapping them in a strange, sitcom-type fantasy.
- Eventually theyâre able to convince him that for all the pain and suffering the land of the living had to offer, there was good worth building on.
- Jason is left deeply furious towards B for letting this happen to Danny, and for continuing to bring children into this horrible life. Danny, for his part, has a difficult time forgiving B himself for not keeping his promise to keep them all safe and for being yet another parent who turned against him (at least in his mind).
- Danny and Jason end up moving in together into an apartment in Crime Alley. For his part Jason feels responsible for his brotherâs fragile mental state and wants to help him.
- Danny continues to struggle with his feelings of disconnect with the Land of the Living. He still is based on an obsession with protection, and his other instability leaves him desperate to keep Jason safe, leading to a kind of painful codependency, both feeling responsible for the other.
- Finally itâs actually Harley Quinn who talks Danny into channeling his obsession into a much healthier direction: dealing with the occult issues of Gotham and protecting the city that way. He becomes the Grey Ghost (partially to irritate B, partly because he thinks itâs hilarious)
- For his part, Jason decides to help his godforsaken neighborhood however he can. Heâs seen the Batâs operation from the inside and heâs not about to make the same mistakes again. He becomes the Red Hood, crime lord extraordinaire. Heâs less violent than in cannon (see: the pits) but he is much more rational right from the start and that makes him just as dangerous.
(Danny still has occasional relapses. At this point getting kidnapped by the Grey Ghost is basically a right of passage in the Wayne family)
Timothy Drake has been missing for three months, and Damian is the one who has finally located him.
I DO NOT OWN THESE CHARACTERS OR THEIR WORLDS. I DO NOT INTEND TO MAKE MONEY WITH THIS POST. IF THIS POST IS ON TIKTOK, INSTAGRAM, YOUTUBE, OR ANYTHING OTHER THAN TUMBLR I DID NOT CONSENT TO THAT. IF THIS DISCLAIMER IS MISSING THEN THE POST WAS EDITED TO NEGATE IT.
Unfortunately, it was due to Damian being captured by the same people who had caught Timothy.
They were in the same cell, which normally would have been a mistake on their captor's part, but Timothy...Timothy wasn't in any shape to escape, on his own or with help.
They'd stripped him of his uniform, 'gifted' him a hospital gown, and tortured him. Him. Timothy Drake, Damian's brother, for however much they antagonized each other.
Timothy was nearly skeletal, and though his eyes were open, he wasn't present. Nothing Damian did brought about any form of awareness. He'd already, against his pride, shouted for Jon, Kon, Kal, Kara; any of the Supers, any at all, and there'd been no response.
Mostly, his shouts for them had been born of desperation; he knew full well that, if Kon hadn't shredded Timothy's prison to get to him, then the prison was sound-proofed.
Which led to option two.
Damian would have to orchestrate an escape for them both, without Timothy's help.
First step, steal either a gurney or a wheelchair.
Or; Damian is captured by the GIW, and placed in the same cell as Danny. Except that Danny is Tim's long lost identical twin, and unresponsive due to medical torture, so Damian assumes Danny to be Tim.
Tim, meanwhile, is currently in the Philippines, in the middle of a blackout mission he deliberately didn't tell anyone about.
I rarely bring this up because it feels like fairly silly and low-stakes compared to all the other effects of american imperialism, but one of the funniest things when Americans deny that living in the imperial core and the center of global cultural hegemony confers them any sort of privilege over people from the imperial periphery is that like. In order for this conversation where you tell me you have no privilege over me to even be able to take place one of us had to learn the other's language, and it wasn't you.
I think the fact that by default the onus of learning the other's language to enable communication is always put on the other side is a pretty significant privilege on the cultural front.
I've occasionally seen people apologize for using their own native (not English) language or discussing something local to their non English speaking country and I just. Stop. Please, I beg of you. I know that I'm incredibly privileged. But also, I feel like it really enriches me to be exposed to thoughts, ideas, languages and words from different cultures. Never apologize for it.
When I was learning another language in another country I was told that it is extremely important to learn and speak the native language even if you donât know much, even if youâre not fluent- because it makes them happy to see you making that effort, to have something in common and to share that with you. It really is a sign of respect to learn languages other an English if youâre American, especially if you travel. It affects your ability to really bond with a person, and similarly I love hearing people talk in different languages in America because yes! America is diverse and we should be learning more languages to interact with our neighbors! People who come to America are already learning English (and itâs hard!) but if you learn a few phrases in their language- beautiful, youve made their day, you made that effort to relate to them and connect and you guys are friends now. Love it
likely a lukewarm take but i do believe that a core part of babs' character is that she's intensely overbearingly controlling especially around things that are literally unable to be controlled because such a crucial part of her life was (in her eyes) taken out of her control with a very simple, preventable action. she has to have a finger in every single pie because the one time she didn't, she lost a whole lot more than she was willing to.
I stand with this for sure, babs is often called the all seeing eye and people say you can never hide anything from her but one of her character flaws, like Batman, is that sometimes she can go too far and mess up her relationships with people by revealing their secrets or even acknowledging that she crosses their personal boundaries
The Justice League has had Red Huntress on their list of people to recruit. Yet, they were told to wait because of Constantine. He said that Ghosts are not what they think, and recruiting Red Huntress before Constantine reaches out to Phantom could have dire consequences.
If Constantine is right, then Phantom is a Protector Spirit. And he will need to learn more about Protector Spirits to get Phantom to join Justice League Dark BEFORE the Justice League recruits Red Huntress.
From what the Hellblazer has learned from other Ghosts and such, Phantom is a Protector Spirit that is dangerously close to abandoning his role.
A Protector Spirit that abandons its role is incredibly dangerous. As a Protector Spirit keeps the worst of the worst at bay with just their presence alone. And if a gate to the Infinite Realms has no Protector Spirit nearby, then malevolent Ghosts will come rushing through the gate and cause a lot of destruction wherever they go. Once those malevolent Ghosts are in the living world, they get stronger and more confident. The only way to get those malevolent Ghosts back into the Infinite Realms is with the Protector Spirit that they feared to beat them back into the gate they came from.
Constantine was about to go and recruit Phantom and help the Protector Spirit move the gate, he hears that Red Huntress has been recruited, in front of Phantom, who had quickly run away soon after.
Now they need to find Phantom soon, as in less than a day, the Lingering presence of the Protector Spirit will fade from the gate he was guarding, and then they will be under the constant attacks of malevolent Ghosts because of the Justice League being to impatient.
I know it was intended to say that the malevolent spirits were Dannyâs rogues, but wha if it wasnât?
As itâs stated that the very presence of a protector spirit keeps the evil ones at bay what if Dannyâs rogues are the ones who slip through because they are not actually evil or malicious all things conceded, they are just hyper-focused and kinda reckless and selfish, while the evil ones, the REALLY evil ones are prevented outright from crossing the portal by the very fact Danny is around.
Iâm speaking of the ghosts of serial killers, cannibals, tyrants, genocide lunatics, dedicated torturers and just about the worst of the worst whose very obsession is to just straight up spread as much pain and suffering as possible. Beings of pure evil with powers that can go up to borderline divine and a singular dedication to bring ruin upon the world and lives of everyone, THAT is what the League just invited to their dimension by rushing things and pushing Danny away from his portal. Constantine is going to yell at them so much that theyâd rather Batman take over the scolding (Batman will get his turn anyway once John is away, putting the world in danger out of simple impatience after being warned with an actual complete and logic explanation is just unacceptable in his books).
Becoming an Justice League auxiliary member makes Valerie enthusiastic. She's recognized now, she's got support. A stipend and legal aid and authority. Phantom had fled when he realized Red Huntress was League quality, and with him gone the ghostly activity in Amity Park had lowered considerably. Val knew Phantom had been the leader of the ghosts, encouraging scum to attack the citizens of Amity Park.
The reprieve was nice, even if it meant that the action that had gotten the League's attention had dried up. What did it mean to be a hero whose villains had all left?
Maybe it would have given her time to rekindle her romance with Danny, if he hadn't disappeared the day Phantom did. Val is half convinced Phantom kidnapped him, but if he had the Fentons would have put up a bigger fuss.
Problems start two weeks after the ghosts stopped attacking, too scared of Red Huntress's Justice League connection. Or maybe they started before then, and Val hadn't noticed until the news story about a locked-room murder. The cops were on it, but in Amity Park, a locked room wasn't locked to ghosts.
It is such a human murder though. Six stabs to the stomach of a sleeping woman, her roommate out at her boyfriend's. Ghosts don't use knives to kill people. And ghosts don't murder much either - they were more of chaos gremlins who didn't care about the damage they caused, but going after people with murderous intent?
Val knows ghosts were evil, had seen all the terrible things they'd done to Amity and her own life, but it doesn't strike her until that story that ghosts hadn't actually killed while Phantom was in town.
So that locked-room murder had to have been a human.
Four days later, there is another in the news and journalists pulled up police records. Three weeks into May, and they have more reported deaths than in January through March combined - including those attributed to loss of power during a freak, natural, blizzard.
Red Huntress reached out to the League. "I'm used to ghostly threats, not human. Any advice?"
Nightwing shows up, John Constantine trailing behind him. Constantine pretty much ignores Red Huntress; he takes one look at her, sneers at Nightwing, and takes off into the city. Nightwing is a lot more friendly, and together they visit a few crime scenes and he points out things to look for, talks about how to build a relationship with the local police force, reminders her that human villians might require different weapons.
Valerie...has only hunted ghosts. She only knows her guns. She doesn't know if she can chase down a guy and take him out with her fists before depositing him at the police station. There's so much to learn. She's glad the League asked her join them, because otherwise she'd be lost.
(And if she hadn't been asked, Phantom would still be here.)
Sometimes she'll see Constantine around, he seems to be tracking something, following a green crystal around town. It glows a soft white, painfully similar to how Phantom had. Val only ever sees him as Val, not Red Huntress, otherwise she would have gotten up into his face. She almost does, after another gruesome murder. Whole family this time, parents, four kids, and two cats. She knows it's frustration, she wants this murderer found and jailed. At least Nightwing is just as confused - for all that he's a detective, he's got no leads on who the killer is.
John Constantine is pretty sure Amity Park is being haunted.
That's not new for the town, but they've not had a ghost like this. It's to be expected though, when a town's protector spirit disappears. Maybe a new one will come, though he doubts it.
He sends a quick blessing into the air for Phantom. John doesn't know where he is, what exactly happened, but he understands the basics - the Justice League asking Red Huntress to join them, in front of Phantom, snapped his self-defined image as the town's hero and protector. He'd been doing a damn good job at it too, even against public backlash, but ghosts are emotional creatures. Everyone has a breaking point, Hal Jordan made Phantom's public.
And with Phantom's dismissal, Amity Park became a new hunting ground for the nefarious. It's honestly a surprise a demon hasn't shown up yet, but communication across magical realms was slow. They might not know Phantom is gone yet.
News would travel fast though - the crime rate was rising fasting, stumping local coppers and even Nightwing. John could understand that - Bats and his ilk rarely dealt with the supernatural. John had invited himself, when Red Huntress asked for help. But Red Huntress should have guessed this was ghost work.
He's still miffed the League even considered Red Huntress, and very pissed off they ignored his command to hold until he talked to Phantom - but that's biases against the supernatural for you.
John sighs, staring at his pendulum. Ectoranium charmed to be drawn toward ectoplasm, it's not been as helpful as a guide to find the ghost(s) on a murder spree. The town was too saturated - there had to be a leak to the Ghost Realm somewhere. A leak would explain a lot of things, actually.
Grumbling, he stuffs his ghost tracker into his pocket and turns around. He's pretty sure there was a bar -
Shapes duck into an alley.
It's not the first time he's been followed, but he's pretty sure these shapes have been following him for two weeks. Late teens, if he had to guess.
On a whim, John pulls out his ectoranim. There's the slight pull toward the alley.
Ecto-contaiminated teens. Good, this whole place needs a cleanse if humans are hosting death energy in their bodies. It's makes Phantom's nearly three years of protecting this place even more impressive, especially for a recently deceased teen. Ghosts went through a period of fluctuation after they were created - incorporating the impact of their death into their self image and coming to terms with everything from their death to their obsessions. Phantom should have still been discovering himself, as a teen and a ghost, not become a protector spirit of his home town strong enough to protect this entire realm.
John can probably catch the ghost murderer, but there will be worse. He needs more information.
He's pretty sure those kids have it.
With a twist of his wrist, he teleports into the ally. The kids jump, the black boy yelping and dropping an old PDA while the goth girl steps in front of her friend.
"John Constantine," she says.
"Kid," he says back.
John wishes he didn't have a reputation.
"What are you doing here?" the girl asks.
"Trying to track down the ghost on a murder spree."
The black teen peeks out from behind his friend. "You don't think it's a human?"
"In Amity Park?"
Oddly enough, that gets both of them to relax.
"Okay, cool. I'm Sam Manson, by the way. This is Tucker Foley."
They shake hands, and what follows is not the conversation John expects to hand. They have ghost hunting tech. Tech. There's a pair of inventors in Amity Park that have figured out how to get magic and technology to somewhat work together, and Sam and Tucker have handhold tools to hunt and capture ghosts. They just can't find the guy walking through walls with a knife. John admits he's in a similar boat - he knows what and how to fight, but can't find the bastard.
Sam investigates John's crystal while he looks over a soup thermos powered by ectoplasm. He want to see if he can suck up Hal Jordan in it for getting them into this mess.
Marvel Team Red is still such a funny concept to me. Sure stick Mr. "My superpower is sensory issues" with the two most annoying bitches alive. I'm sure this won't have any repercussions
I can vouch personally for the validity of this campaign, as well as @gazavetters (#213 on the list).
They urgently, URGENTLY need your donation.
A reblog, thatâs all it really takes. There are campaigns on here with tens of thousands of notes â how do you think they got there?
By everyone scrolling past? Complain about morality OCD and compassion burnout all you want. My friend Zeinaâs family survived the bombing, but they are not safe.
Even after the so-called ceasefire, their lives are still hanging by a thread. At any moment I am not speaking to Zeina, it is possible that she has no food, no shelter, no safety this is what âafter the warâ looks like in Gaza.
Think about living with ruins instead of homes, fear instead of stability, and the echo of everything they lost. Thereâs no âgetting used toâ that as your constant reality.
So when I ask you to reblog this post, think about the lack of effort it would take to flick your thumb and realize it could still be saving the lives of 14 people, affected by destruction and trauma far beyond what you could possibly imagine on your own.
The Riddler probably has such an up and down relationship with the Robins because they all tend to tackle things differently and heâs always so thrown by how they handle his riddles.
The Riddler: To free Batman from my trap, you must answer this riddle, little bird. I speak without a mouth and hear without ears. I have no body, but I come alive with wind. What am I?
Dick, eight years old and freshly Robin: *thinking really hard*
The Riddler looking at Batman dangling upside down: ?
Batman: He just needs an extra minute.
The Riddler:
Batman: English isnât his first langauge.
The Riddler, feeling a little bad: oh, thatâs⊠take your time, buddy.
Jason, twelve years old: *lifting a hand*
The Riddler: -uh, yes?
Jason: Can you repeat that? The riddle?
The Riddler: um, yeah, sure. I have cities, but no houses. I have mountains, but no trees. I have water, but no fish. What am I?
Jason: Yeah, youâre a map but when youâre talking about multiple species of fish, which you probably are, you can say fishes. If youâre using fish, youâre only talking about one species.
The Riddler:
Jason: I just think you should know that. You know as a âgeniusâ
The Riddler: The more you take, the more you -
Tim: Footsteps, whereâs Batman?
The Riddler: No, you have to let me-
Tim: Nuh-uh
The Riddler: The fuck do you mean ânuh-uhâ? Who raised you?
Tim, on two hours sleep, with two essays due on this fine Thursday night: *fucking launches himself at The Riddler*
The Riddler: I wear a mask but not to hide,
Steph: It's you. You're the answer.
The Riddler: You have to let me finish.
Steph, mimicking him: YOu HaVE tO LEt mE FIniSH
The Riddler: I have-
Damian: *launches himself at the Riddler*
The Riddler: Batman, fuck, FUCK, heâs fucking biting me-
