I’ve noticed a trend of transandrophobes on this site that seem to extend way more grace, understanding and compassion to cis men on the chance they may actually be trans than they do out and vocal transmascs. Which I can’t even begin to describe how fucked up that is. Like, if you’re more empathetic to “”””TME’s”””” that have the capacity to theoretically be transfeminine than your actual trans brothers and siblings, you’re just transphobic. And now we have literal cis men on this site who think they can speak over an entire demographic of trans people BEING PLATFORMED BY OTHER TRANS PEOPLE. How the fuck have we lost the plot this hard.

Do you people seriously think trans men don’t have severe social pressure to never ever consider that they might be men? Do you think transphobia as a whole only applies to trans women? What do you think happens when a trans man comes out, that the whole family gets together to throw a fucking party or some shit?

The beginning was just kind of silly and operates on the presumption that we can’t at least share a community in-joke about a shared or at the very least similar experience. But the part about “no extreme social pressures” is just an enraging load of horse shit. I get that trans women faced pressure to live as men and that’s awful. Now please realize that not everyone is pressured to live as men and some of us were actually heavily pressured to live as women and this is still awful.

every single transandrophobic remark about trans men/mascs begins to make so much more sense once you realize that transandrophobes do not see trans men as transgender

trans men have male privilege? transandrophobes only see us cis men

trans men have cis woman/afab/tme privilege? transandrophobes only see us as cis women

our sexual assault rate is higher only because we're more likely to be attracted to men? transandrophobes only see us as heterosexual cis women roleplaying as gay men

That's SO what I've been saying !!

One of the most plain way I first encountered this phenomenon is when I was in an abusive relationship with a trans woman. When I came forward with the abuse I was facing from her, and despite me not having transitioned in any ways apart from socially to our friends and acquaintances, every one understood that she, as a trans woman, could face double the abuse (but, for some reason, not be herself abusive) but I was the Man, in an heterosexual relationship. I wasn't a pre-everything trans man, I was just The Man. And thus I couldn't have been the victim of abuse from a trans woman.

This phenomenon of being denied your position as a gender minority when you come out as a trans man is so very much real.
