I should really take a step back because I haven’t rewatched the episode yet. Confession time. This is the first episode I’m really excited about rewatching in 5B, because it had so much stuff that I just love, and as someone who pretty much is allergic to flashbacks, I am so happy there were none this go around.
This is really more of a comment that I know someone like @thetaleofcaptainswan will appreciate, and at this point, I don’t think the writers are being subtle at all with what they’re doing.
There were 2 situations last night. Moe/Rumple, and Killian/Arthur that the writing paralleled, or anti-paralleled with different results.
In both situations Belle and Emma’s well being is at stake.
Rumple goes to Moe for assistance, and threatens him into helping Belle, which he refuses to do, and God knows what would have happened to him had Emma not shown up.
Killian asks Arthur for his help, and gives him a choice. You can help. And you know, considering that Emma was the Dark One, and that he was lied to about the intentions of the Nevengers from the word go, YMMV, but I personally don’t think he owed any of them anything.
But this is the difference, right?
Arthur is given a choice, and Moe is about to be beaten into submission.
Also, I cannot point out enough that in an episode where Killian is sent back to Emma, and his life in Storybrooke, is also the episode Rumple finally voices that he is Storybrooke’s king, and that he basically owns it.
I think this is likely the overarching arc for season 6.
