@piranabo
this comment on the 15x09 deancas prayer scene .
Cas finding Dean beautiful
HE DOESSSSS
samâs desperate attempts to be an ally stem from a few places but one important one is the time he asked dean if he was strictly into dick now in season 7. he lays awake at night and goes, âwas that homophobic? am i a bad ally?â
LMAOOOOOOO heâs like âhow could i.....heâll never feel safe enough to come out to me now.....â
#sam remembering when he said dean was overcompensating by being butch and is like WAS THAT A MICROAGGRESSION ( @americachavezâ )
#sam's social justice desire to be the best ally ever vs. sam's little brother instincts telling him to drag dean mercilessly? (@valleydeanâ )
Obsessed with S1 Dean meeting S4 Castiel. Or, even better, meeting S15 Castiel. Castiel sees baby Dean and immediately bursts into tears
S1 Dean being immediately on defense when meeting S15 Castiel like when they first met, but then being slowly overwhelmed by the complete and utter emotion he sees behind Castielâs eyes when he looks at him. Castielâs eyes say âI love you and I know you deeplyâ and S1 Deanâs brain glitches
S15 Cas calling S1 Dean beautiful
This? This right HERE! I mean from the very first MOMENT of this scene. Dean saying âAlright, so spillâ is the gayest thing Iâve heard today...other than my own breathing.
Listen, this scene lives in my head rent free. EVERYTHING about it is perfect. Deanâs purple flannel, âIs ketchup a vegetableâ âhell yesâ, the basket of fries theyâre sharing (I know Cas doesnât eat but I love imagining the waitress bringing their food out thinking what a cute couple they are), âAlright, so spillâ, Dean looking around before swapping his and Casâ plate and Cas rolling with it cause it probably happens all the time, Cas looking at Dean like the lovesick disaster he is, itâs all just *chefs kiss*
yo do you ever think about how fucking old castiel is and like ok he looks like a human but his real form is like fucking insane and other-wordly and defo not human and heâs just sitting in this lil diner watching this human eat and is like âđ„ș so like how you doing, you doing okay? đđ»đđ»â like what the fuck
đhey wtf man now iâm screaming
this gives me visceral physical reactions, i literally huddled over and started air-screaming
the gang attends dean and casâ first pride aka i love the obnoxiously supportive straight lgbtq ally sam headcanon <3Â
this tracks so hard it wounds me
AU where Cas sees Deanâs dreams
really when you think about it is it any wonder dean acts so alpha male butch, i mean these are the comments he gets NOW, and heâs only got more rugged as heâs grown up,it must have just been non-stop when he was younger, pretty pretty girly precious feminine princess etc etc, no wonder dean modelled himself physically off john, johnâs handsome but heâs very much traditionally masculine features-wise, john was the rugged manly archetype dean desperately wished he was instead of being the pretty one,no wonder dean based his persona off the hyper-masculine square-jawed womanizer hero type you see in tv, if he acted manly enough people would be forced to respect him as a hero, so he buried the stuff like the panty kink and the cooking and the nesting and the liking nice clothes down as far the fuck as they would go, and theyâre only just surfacing, but heâs still semi-constantly getting the reinforcement that heâs feminine in looks, and thatâs setting him back every time (via neraiutsuze)
These tags are everything and I feel the need to clumsily invade them. I was having this discussion with Vee about the continuous objectification of Dean by the narrative (itâs a discussion I tend to revisit quite often) - he is often literally spoken about/traded/regarded as a kind of object, as a body because of the âblunt little instrumentâ idea. itâs actually really fascinating to me because I think it plays SO MUCH into his self-worth (or lack therein), his perception of his own personhood. He continually defined himself in very specific ways growing up, most often through aspiring to be like John, but never quite making it - music, clothing, car, he still didnât think he âmeasured upâ to that ideal (because heâs inherently dissimilar to his father and tied to his mother, and his parentification only underscores that). He had the craving for home and comfort and emotional attachment but had to repress it, and the only way he knew how was to adopt that outer layer of the soldier. and at some point he learned to use his physicality as an advantage, tricking adversaries with either the guise of attractiveness or brute strength, and then blindsiding them with intelligence or emotional capacity, but the latter qualities often went unnoticed.
And she said, âitâs not even the objectification itâs the kind of language /used/ to objectify him, you know? âprettyâ âdelicateâ â arguably âfeminineâ compliments that in a hunterâs world are associated with weakness. And so Dean pushes against that as hard as he can, using âgirlâ and âbitchâ as insults (against Sam mostly). Like, his body is all he has, itâs the only thing that he sees as having some value and he guards it, he weaponizes it, and as you said, uses it as a tool to pull off plans and think up strategies that other people couldnât.â
(Sam is much more that masculine ideal, and much more akin to John - all that fury and reckless impulse, so of course psychologically Dean projects, but that would probably lead me on a tangent. The point Vee made stands, though.)
Dean knows his vulnerabilities well, understands his depths, but doesnât feel heâs allowed them, so outwardly he has the need to belittle those aspects of himself that he constantly was led to believe are flaws or wrong or weaknesses. Itâs only recently that weâve even seen him branch out a little more in something as basic as clothing (and the fact that he immediately views the Men of Lettersâ bunker as a home, wants a place to keep things, finds the need to make real food - facets that also all lead into another discussion about his underlying connection to his environment and desires, but I digress).
And Iâve definitely discussed this before, but under extreme duress, he seemingly doesnât have a lot of attachment TO his body because he began at some point to view himself as an extended weapon, he puts it out there all the time as a sacrifice and allows himself to be brutalized, but when it happens with someone he LOVES, thereâs a paradigm shift there from sacrifice to sacrament, itâs when damage to his physical body somehow lets his soul leak through and that pulls his loved ones back from the brink. and obviously thereâs a very disturbing element to the fact that he has closely had to tie physical abuse to expressions of love/salvation, and an unsettling aspect to how often people who claim to love him have beaten him down, but I think it sort of stands as this testament to what a powerful spirit he has, that his physical presence doesnât contain it.
tl;dr he lives in a constant struggle between learning to value his individuality as a physical being and thinking he deserves a certain amount of pain to that physical being, regardless of how damaging it continues to be to his self-worth, and it becomes this very interesting identity crisis - a soul continually used as a body, a heart and mind overlooked for sinew and muscle and clenched fists and pretty green eyes.
Ahhhhh this is one of the best metas I have ever read. Amazing how deep this show is.
Itâs like. Thereâs Becky who is literally a stand in for fan girls and is villainised and made fun of but then thereâs also all the male fans at the supernatural convention who are ALSO made fun of but differently and with less vitriol. And then thereâs meta fiction which is like... who does a story belong to? Who gives it meaning? The writer or the reader? And then thereâs fan fiction which is like... your version of the story is not my version of the story but itâs valid and THEN thereâs Becky redemption and the Fan Girl framed as the good against Chuck as the ultimate big bad and then the whole metanarrative of it all that just.... collapses and goes nowhere and means nothing. For no discernible reason. So I will say it again. What the fuck goes on on the CWâs supernatural
Itâs disturbing to think that each and every member of Deanâs family has both abandoned him and beaten him nearly to death while possessed. To the point he had to beg them not to kill him. And yet he is constantly made responsible for their safety/emotional state, even in the direct aftermath. Thereâs just something awful about that.
whatâs the opposite of a like button. why donât we have a function for âthis punched me in the throat and I want to save it in case I need to punch anyone else in the throatâ. whereâs the button for that
apparently that is the âreblogâ button
Because I think a lot of people have been waiting for an exact quote on thisâŠ
Sarah: My question is about the most recent episode, 22, so spoilers if anyone hasnât seen it.
Misha: Okay. I havenât, so.
Sarah: My question is about something that Metatron said about Cas. He said heâs in love with humanity, and⊠okay, other than a certain special someone, Iâm wondering what it is about humanity that you think heâs so enamoured with?
Misha: Um. [pause] He, um. [pause] I probably shouldnât be telling you this, but Iâm going to. Um, I think the writers, um⊠I really shouldnât be telling you this. Um. Metatronâ So when weâwhen I go into the room that was heaven, that was the heaven trap⊠âcause this has aired, right?Â
[audience agrees]Â
Metatron sort of made Casâ version of heaven, but it was like a joke version of heaven, like, rainbows and unicorns kind of heaven. Um, but in the original script, it was, uhâ [laughs] it was photosâ it was photos of uh⊠naked men, with uh, with Jensenâs face.Â
[audience cheers]Â
I read it⊠I read it and I was like, oh, are you fucking kidding me? This is whatâs going onâreally? And then someone up the ladder was like, no, you canât do that, so they didnât do it, but it was written in the script, so, um.

CW has been robbing us blind for years
Slowly loosing my mind
ânot everything has to be gayâ it does actually
if this deleted dream scene from 10x23 doesnât convince you that 1) dean is bi, 2) that dean is in love with cas, then idk what to tell you đ€·
Fantastic Breasts and Where to Find Them
That second to last panel is chilling.
reblogging again for linzeestyleâs tags, because, OMG, *TRUTH*
#fandom#harry potter#this is the real reason fandom is mocked derided and insulted by creators#because it *canât* be packaged and resold#because our culture doesnât know how to sell sex to women outside of the male gaze#and because women have created a community where they donât need to buy anything to get what they want#and to people whose entire livelihoods#depend on creating and marketing unattainable âperfectionâ to young women#telling them what sex and sex appeal is#how they should feel about it#and how they should desire it#and what they need to buy to be worth it#our entire economy is based on women being cut into parts and those parts being sexualized#and turned back around and sold to men and women alike#and fandom doesnât participate#it creates its own economy and thereâs no space for that model#thatâs terrifying#and the people who used to hold all the cards mock it#because they lost the âC&D and shut-downâ alternative
#and because women have created a community where they donât need to buy anything to get what they want
I think about this ALL THE TIME. I fucking love it.Â
Fandom is the most brilliant, beautiful, collaborative, critical, deeply subversive stuff there is and I ADORE IT TO PIECES.
And no, itâs not all womenâcertainly not, absolutely not. But Iâd say itâs vast majority women. (âŠRidiculous crazy vast majority anybody-except-cis-men.) I know I often think of fandom as a feminine and/or queer-centered space.
Iâm reblogging for the added commentary and to add a link to a meta IÂ recently came across. The whole thing is worth a read, but the first paragraph really resonates:
The types of fandom that are most often considered traditional and acceptable, and which are often either male-dominated or coded as masculine, tend to be acquisitive, whether in terms of knowledge (obscure trivia) or merchandise (collectibles). Whereas, by contrast, the types of fandom most often considered insincere, non-serious or âunrealâ, and which are often either female-dominated or coded as feminine, tend to be creative, such as making costumes, writing fanfic and drawing fanart. (via fozmeadows)
I love this! Ofc young women/nb people/queer ids in hostile internet spaces are really into making things and presenting them instead of themselves.
as a queer man, fandom was the first place i saw people like me get to be in love and not die for it.
