ADHD time blindness be like "oh, today is the 30th? that's fine, December is still next month, that's forever away!
...what do you mean tommorrow?"
happy 1 year anniversary to this post,
DECEMBER IS TOMMORROW.
AGAIN.
See the thing is I think somebody should've made small talk with cas like "so who's your favorite singer?" and he would go "well I don't listen to much music but there was a man in ancient Mesopotamia who used to sing to the goats he herded. They didn't understand the words, of course, but they seemed to enjoy it all the same. I enjoyed sending pieces of my celestial consciousness to experience this from time to time" and they would go ".........okay then." Except for Dean, who would somehow be jealous

chatgpt is the coward's way out. if you have a paper due in 40 minutes you should be chugging six energy drinks, blasting frantic circus music so loud you shatter an eardrum, and typing the most dogshit essay mankind has ever seen with your own carpel tunnel laden hands

I can't believe this was only posted on the 3rd of August 2025. "samantha in the back fighting for her life while homotron 3000 goes for a thigh grab" feels like a phrase I've been living with for years

Finally
I’ve seen too much discourse on whether Supernatural is queer or queerbait or what have you and I’m really out of it but through my vaccination induced haze and near dead-to-the-world state I have produced one (1) enlightened thought:
Supernatural, as a tv show, suffers from internalized homophobia
Supernatural, as a TV show, suffers from misogyny, and as a result, internalised homophobia.
Misogyny, because they struggled to write a good female character. With that in mind, they wrote male characters with a lot more complexity than female characters. Cas and Dean were inevitable. Whether it would be them specifically or two other male characters, it's irrelevant. Jensen and Misha had insane chemistry. Misha himself poured a lot of passion into Castiel as a character to the point where he became a staple of the show, even though the writers didn't always like it. The characters themselves really lend to them having queer and romantic overtones. And homophobia came in too. This show, as the network wanted it, was meant to be about manly adventures, male woes of heroism and loneliness and American values. They didn’t like the fact thar the story wanted to go somewhere else, wanted to remain profitable and marketable to as many audiences and countries as possible and so they could never "sully" their perfect macho American show with two, ultimately soft, queer dudes (and I use dude liberally for Cas because the character has an interesting potential for gender discourse).
But it's ultimately misogyny because none of the female love interests had any substance. None of the female friends were written with character and integrity enough to see them as actual people so what's there to ship? A pretty object with no substance? Someone you find aesthetically attractive but who comes with family, kids, normalcy, a job - things Dean in particular could never have? Someone he can't be himself around? Someone who would nag him? Worse. The other alternative is that they could have written a suitable female hunter. But they didn't because they wanted to write the whole "I'm so lonely, it's so hard being the only person stopping the end of the world, all I got is my brother (who begrudgingly accepted his fate)" type of narrative. Which is rooted in patriarchal views of men being the only capable being. Which also intersects with the individualistic culture we see in Western countries, especially in the US.
To add onto it, many shows from that era fell into this. Many shows still do. They write male characters with a lot more complexity than female, fans end up shipping the guys, networks go "it's all in your head" or worse "yass, queen, get it" and then pull the rug from under you last minute. And I mean, at the end of the day, the people who are more likely to ship mlm ships are queer people themselves or women. And they don't care to pander to us because this is a right wing, capitalistic hellhole and unfortunately it's getting worse every year.
