yo if anyone is looking for a good honey cake recipe for offerings, i recently made this one and its really good and super simple! it uses greek yogurt and olive oil in addition to honey and also has an optional orange rosemary syrup that was also super easy to make! just thought i'd throw it out there since i love making little honey cakes as a good general offering :)

An instrumental cover of a well-known song plays from another room. It starts slow, rhythm inconsistent, like a child struggling with a hand-played music box. It is the unmistakable tune of Despacito, played on an old circus organ. You open your eyes slowly and squint up at a single, flickering bulb. Your head aches. How did you get here?
The music throbs against the bathroom’s crumbling tile walls. You are standing in front of a ceramic sink, the bowl chipped and yellowed with age. You have no memory of this place. The music speeds up. Your hands are stained with something dark and rotting. A strange taste lingers in your mouth. How did you get here?
You lean towards the mirror. Your face is haggard, your eyes bloodshot.
Your reflection leans forward and whispers, “Despacito”
I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Your reflection points to something behind you, and winks. You turn. Putrid water, muddy with rust, circles a drain built into the floor. It takes you a moment to notice the old bone saw leaning against the wall. You pick it up, and its weight feels familiar. You straighten up, liking the heft of it in your grip.
Outside the music is fading. Calmly you exit the bathroom, still holding the saw, letting its dull edge bump gently against your thigh. An aged calliope organ stands before you, its tune slowing to a halt. You hum in displeasure. Before it can stop entirely, you kick the thing violently into the wall. It lets out a crescendo and splinters into pieces.
You hear frantic footsteps behind you. You turn to find yourself in a maintenance tunnel, a large thing made of discolored concrete. The crash of the calliope had ended with a few notes that now echo in your head, bringing to mind an old tune. As you move forward into the tunnel, following the footsteps, you try to drag up the music from the dregs of memory. You take wide, heavy steps, trying to match that half-remembered tempo. How did it go again?
As you descend into darkness, you swing out your arm and drag the saw against the tunnel wall, like a child bullying a stick against a fence. Sparks fly out from the sawteeth and the metal screeches like something in pain. You hum loudly, letting the tune buzz through your ears. It’s all coming back to you.
Panicked footsteps echo up ahead. You smile, bringing the saw up to rest on your shoulder. You have all the time in the world.
You stalk forward, singing softly under your breath.
“Never gonna give you up.”
It got better
You finally make it to your destination. A small child is on the other side of the room. It’s half melted into the wall. The child is fresh. The beast is hungry.
You walk up to the walls. You can sense it’s presence, like an old familiar friend you’ve long since forgotten. The child is no bother to you.
You raise your empty hand, holding it slightly away from the wall. You place it on the wall as a smile cracks out of wall. It’s toothless grin is as comforting as or is terrifying.
It’s eyes peel open from the stone, staring through your eyes and into your soul. It is judging you. But you have nothing to hide from your companion.
You know it’s accepted your request. The once gray stone seeps away, taking on a pink hue. The wall under your hand pulses, before slowly oozing over.
You smile. You say your thanks as the last song comes to your mind. You raise the familiar bone saw. You know what to do. As you slowly hack away at your arm, you whisper the words of a song once forgotten, to a friend now remembered.
“Take on me”
It croaks back in a voice of tune, yet somehow still just a beautiful.
“Take on me”
You know it’s chosen you. As the saw continues to bite at your skin and the pink continues oozing up, you shout the last words needed, full of passion and excitement.
“Take me on”
It’s grin widens as the saw cuts through the final segment of arm. That grin is all you see. You know you’re wish is finally coming as everything fades to pink. You feel a presence inside your body and hear the final words echo from your mind and from your voice.

i’ve been having a really hard time trying to pinpoint my gender. it’s felt contradictory and indescribable and confusing and as if i’d never find a label that fits me — so i decided to make my own. i wanted to share in case it resonated with someone else.
nixera (nix–air–ah): an identity comprised of both genderless and partial girl or girl-aligned aspects. these aspects can be experienced either simultaneously, fluidly, or through fluctuations. intended for those who feel both connected and detached from womanhood and for those who have difficulty distinguishing their alignment from their gender.
“nix” comes from the german word meaning “none,” and “era” is a latin feminine noun.
the flag’s pale pink represents being partially connected to womanhood, while the dark purple represents genderlessness or complete unalignment from the gender binary. the shades in between represent the varying levels to which one can experience both.
