@pittyurimaxxing
for @pitt-yuri-week's free day, Yolanda Garcia considers the consequences of her no marriage policy:
Yolanda didn't even see her fall.
It happened on the way back down. They had just stopped for a water break when Trinity turned to take a picture of the view through the trees to send to Whitaker. She was laughing to herself with whatever she had come up with when her boot caught on a rock that shifted under her weight.
Yolanda was looking down at her own phone when she heard the scream that would haunt her for the rest of her life.
Yolanda looked up and Trinity was gone.
Yolanda didn't remember screaming herself. She didn't remember how she scrambled down the cliff after Trinity without falling or getting injured. Yolanda didn't care how she got there. She just needed to get to Trinity, she slide down the final several feet on her butt when the ground was too steep.
Trinity had one arm behind her back while blood was rushing down her thigh, spreading from a wound where a broken off stick was twisted inside of her. There was blood on her face, in her hair. She wasn't moving when Yolanda finally reached her. Yolanda's training took over first. Her hands were shaking as she pressed two fingers to Trinity's neck.
Trinity made a faint noise.
Thank God.
I have to defend overhated women characters with my life this isnât a game to me anymore dog Iâm so serious
morning rush (victoria is late for her shift, trinâs car dead⊠so.. here we are) (based on this post)

Imagine an Alpha Emery and Omega Samira who become good friends after the MCI.
They have breakfast when Samira works a double, late lunch in the park on days Emery works and Samira doesn't. Spending at least one day a week hanging out outside of work, offering each other a shoulder to lean on after rough shifts slowly falling in love. Neither say a word about it. Silently becoming hopelessly infatuated with the other. Going on like this for months. Years.
Until Samira at dinner one night asks Emery to have a baby with her. Completely platonically of course. No strings attached.
Emery can't say anything but yes.
when you spent all morning trying to talk to your coworker (who has the same job title as you) about how to make sure that your workplace has a smooth transition from his control to yours, but he kept blowing you off and didn't want to hear about any of the idea that you had and wanted to run by him, and every time you tried to have a serious conversation with you he would say he was just trying to get through the day so he could leave on his three month sabbatical, and now, after ignoring every single attempt you made to make sure that you could run your workplace smoothly without him, he's telling you he doesn't think that the workplace will survive without him (he just berrated one of his female employees for being stressed) even though you just saved a child with a procedure he had never even heard of, much less knew how to perform
Reblog if you will never. Ever. Use AI in your writing.
Baran, helps and guides Samira to apply for Médecins Sans FrontiÚres.
On her first overseas assignment, Samira is greeted by none other than Emery, who is head of the surgical team.
Samira is glad she finally has the answer where Dr Walsh disappeared to. However, she now has to deal with her new role and the resurgence of her big old crush on Emery.
Emery is now running the surgical team and away from her feelings for Samira.
BARKING
follow up to this :)
trinity wakes sluggishly, moving through the sedation and meds slowly, clawing her way to the surface just to slip under again
her memories come to her in fragments. canât remember why yolanda and baran are stood next to her looking so wrecked and exhausted
canât remember why shamsi is leaning over her, light in hand to flicker it into her eyes irritatingly.
a hand much smaller than hers gripping onto her tight.
where? she thinks she asks, tongue too large and too heavy in her mouth
the hospital someone answers. but that isnât right, thatâs not the answer to her question. tries again, where?
the hospital, trin, you were in an accident baby, yolandaâs voice she can pick out this time even as faces above her swim in a way that makes her nauseous.
still not the right answer but she canât think of any more words and sheâs so tired anyway
she finds herself able to think in mostly straight lines for the first time when she wakes one night. although her body aches something fierce, she tries to take stock what hurts the most but everything just seems to be a mass of pain.
instead she lets her head loll to one side against the pillow, thereâs a figure curled up in a ball on an uncomfortable looking chair, hood pulled up around their face
you okay, trinity? another voice from her other side, doesnât so much move her head towards the sound as it flops a little out of her control as she tries to engage her neck muscles.
m- barely a croak, stops, tries again, mckay?
yeah, itâs me, you want some water? she asks quietly, holds a straw to trinityâs lips when she nods weakly
she blinks into the dim room, tries to get her bearings all the while mckay watches her. can make out the shape of a couple of balloons and some flowers on the far side of the room.
the figure asleep in the chair shifts, curls up impossibly tighter.
you had us all worried, cassie says softly, yolanda hasnât left since you came out of surgery
and trinity blinks back at her, itâs a simple sentence but it feels like it takes her entire brain to process it. she wants to ask why she needed surgery, but then thereâs the flash of a memory, barely there, the sound of a horn honking somewhere and people running towards her and someone leaning over her to ask her if sheâs okay. and all the while trinity is asking where, a breath that doesnât quite inflate her lungs, where is- and then nothing.
yolandaâs foot slips off the chair from her curled up place and jars her awake, neck snapping upright and then body following when she notices trinityâs looking at her
hey baby, you feeling okay? need some more pain meds? a gentle barely there hand against her cheek
and yes, sheâd love some more meds, jesus sheâs sore, but that also inevitably means sinking back into the slow sludge of it all and she doesnât want to do that whilst her brain feels like hers for a moment
where is- cut off to try and suck in a breath
baranâs at home, she needed to sleep in an actual bed yolanda answers her before she can finish. takes the offered cup of water from cassie and lets trinity have a few sips.
no, trinity furrows her brow, no, whereâs keyvan? and trinity sees flashes of it now, can feel the way she had to launch him out of the way as a car flew through a red light, remembers seeing his little body arc through the air a few feet with the force at which she pushed him
heâs okay, heâs at home too, heâs okay trin, because of you, and then yolandaâs lips against her forehead for a long, long moment, the sound of cassieâs chair scraping as she excuses herself. a shaky breath that doesnât belong to her.
and trinityâs body, which wasnât feeling very strong to begin with, goes boneless in relief. thereâs the dampness of tears against his skin then, as yolanda presses her cheek atop trinityâs hair, and she tries to reach a clumsy hand up towards her to comfort even though it tugs on the IV line uncomfortably
âm okay, yola, and yolanda makes a sort of broken, disbelieving noise and presses as close as she can without hurting her
baranâs life falls apart somewhere around 9:30 in the morning when her sonâs panicked little voice yells out for her as heâs wheeled in on a gurney.
and sheâs at his side almost instantaneously, shouldering past samira a little too hard to get a look at her boy
heâs sobbing messily, blood trickling down the side of his face.
vehicle versus pedestrians, driver had a seizure behind the wheel, ploughed through a red light and caught a pedestrian as she went the paramedic is saying
and someone is trying to tug her out the way, as they transfer her son, her baby, and she canât hear anything except the way heâs wailing, reaching out for her when he canât see her with the spinal collar on
then itâs dana obscuring her vision, blurry and out of focus, but shaking her by her shoulders and telling her harshly, you gotta keep it together baran, we need to check him but we need him calm
and baran stumbles over, leans over just enough to be in his vision, smooths back his curls out of his eyes. iâm here, youâre okay, i know, i know, but weâre going to take care of you, i know it hurts, and her body seems to adjust through muscle memory alone to shift and move to allow the others to work around her
but then itâs donnie shouldering through the doors between the trauma rooms to plead to anyone that can hear, we could do with another set of hands in here
and she wants to snap when cassie glances up and then heads out, because this is baranâs son, why is she leaving
she can hear samira or maybe frank say something about how the head wound looks superficial, her little boyâs voice strained and still crying, asking her whereâs trinity? i want trinity, she pushed me out of the way, is she okay?
and everyoneâs heads snap towards the other trauma room as a collective, just in time to see the frantic rush of bodies, to see cassie begin compressions, and baran is moving too, is only stopped from fully entering when jesse steps in front of her, physically holds her back, she still canât see trinity properly from this angle, can only see her feet, sheâs lost a shoe, but recognises one of the battered pair of vans she refuses to throw away
can see the way yolanda barges through one of the doors too, the way all the life seems to drain out of her in an instant, as someoneâs trying to shepherd her out too, and baranâs knees go out from beneath her
good morning? how are you? PLEASE
i still donât know what youâve done with me

âLook who it is,â a voice drawls behind Samira, barely audible over the music. A sharp and woodsy scent floats off of them, twisting and twining in the air around Samira and making her feel heady. Thereâs something oddly familiar about it, but she pushes the thought down, instead spinning around and coming face-to-face with Dr Walsh, lips curled up into her signature mean and teasing smirk.Â
Samira lets her gaze drag over Walsh for a second, taking in the oversized jersey half tucked into baggy jeans, the loose curls out of the usual tight bun that spill over her shoulders, the slightest hint of eyeliner on her waterline that makes her dark eyes pop even more.Â
She looks hot, somehow even hotter than she does in the usual scrubs that show off her subtle arm muscles. Despite the fact that Samiraâs had a hopeless crush on her for years now â and that her first instinct would usually be to think she was dreaming if Walsh came up to her outside of work â all she feels in this moment is mild annoyance at Walsh for looking so attractive and put-together and for making Samira even want her as much as she does.Â
Because Emery Walsh, with her sharp tongue and even sharper glare, shouldnât be who Samira is attracted to, so intensely that she has to fight to stay focused on the patient and not let her gaze wander over when theyâre in the same room. She shouldn't be so drawn towards Walshâs commanding nature, so much so that it makes her knees go weak when Walsh is throwing instructions around the room, all bossy and confident like she knows exactly what sheâs capable of. She shouldnât be as desperate as she is for Walshâs dark and piercing eyes to focus on her. She shouldnât feel so flustered under that scrutinizing gaze that always makes Samira feel like sheâs being inspected.

Emery doesn't get wasted. She'll have a couple beers here and there, maybe a gin and tonic is she's feeling risky, but she always stops before she gets wasted. She doesn't like not being able to recall what she did the night before, doesn't like the idea of not being fully in control. The buzz of alcohol will occasionally mix with the slight buzz of her headache from having her hearing aids in all day. She's not a big fan. On the bad days, full of flashbacks, lingering headaches, and interns that just don't know when to keep their god complex in check, the urge to get plastered and just forget is strong. But she's stronger. She doesn't get wasted.
Samira doesn't get wasted. Often. Only after particularly bad shifts where Robby rides her all day, making her feel inadequate as a doctor and overall human. Other than that, she'll occasionally meet up with the park crew after shift for a beer and call it a night. She didn't socialize outside of work until a persistent Trinity Santos drug her to a bar with Whitaker and Javadi, claiming they needed a "brain break" after their shift. Slowly, colleagues became friends, Whitaker became Dennis, Javadi became Vic, and friends became family. Now, she meets up with the park crew almost nightly, even if she doesn't drink. She'll stay and talk with her friends until she barely has the energy to make it back to her apartment. She still doesn't get wasted.
The both of them refusing to get wasted means they both remember exactly what happened the night before. In extreme detail. When Emery stirs awake and sees the sun peeking through the curtains, she remembers the MCI at Pitt Fest, Abbott telling Samira to do a pigtail catheter, and finding herself not agreeing at all. When Samira wakes, feeling the arm around her waist tighten, pulling her flush with the body behind her, she remembers Emery's intense gaze on her as she performed the pigtail, not speaking to her afterwards, going home angry and bone tired, and waking up at 6:30 to Working a double. Surgery's got a mess of to deal with instead of her wife crawling into bed like usual.
As Samira fully comes to the world, more and more of her vision coming into clearer focus, she remembers waiting and waiting for Emery to come home. She spent hours alternating through sitting on the couch and reading, wiping down every surface in their kitchen, and folding two loads of laundry in their bedroom over and over again, just to keep her hands busy and mind off of where the hell her wife might be.
-
Emery comes home at 9pm. Two hours after her shift ended. Samara's sitting on the living room couch, picking at the spot where her fingernail meets skin when Emery's keys jingle against the lock. Emery's foot doesn't even cross the threshold before the floodgates open.
"Where the hell were you?"
Emery drops her bag on the chair by the door, not caring enough to put it away in its correct spot. "Out."
"Don't do that. Why didn't you call, or even text?" Samira huffs.
Emery shrugs. "Didn't plan on going until I was already there."
"You couldn't be bothered to tell your wife you weren't coming home immediately after working a double?"
"Don't give me that shit, Samira."
-
Samira sighs as she shifts in Emery's arms. Emery's arm goes from being draped across her waist to her stomach as Samira lays on her back. She finds Emery already gazing at her, expression soft and eyes locked on hers. A small smile creeps its way up her face when she sees her. Emery's hand lightly squeezes her hip, to ground herself and keep Samira close.
-
Emery remembers the yelling.
"You don't trust me!"
"That's not what I said at all!"
Samira scoffs. "You didn't have to. I can tell just by looking at you. Did you think I'd do something to put a patient at risk?" She shouts.
Emery groans, frustration bubbling over. "No, but you did! Jack put you in a position that jeopardized your career!"
"You undermined me in a room full of my colleagues! Then you didn't even speak to me afterwards!" Samira steps toward her.
"You made a reckless decision that could've backfired." Emery steps forward. "You put your career on the line for something Jack told you to do. If something went wrong, you suffer the consequences. An attending is protected by the hospital, a resident is not."
"Nothing went wrong, Emery!"
"Because you got lucky!"
-
Samira's hand cups Emery's jaw, thumb rubbing slow circles.
"Hi." She whispers.
"Hi." Emery's hand leaves Samira's stomach to hold her hand in place. "I love you."
Samira closes the space between them, lips meeting Emery's halfway and free hand cradling the nape of her neck. They shift, Samira now lying halfway on top of Emery's chest. Emery's grasp on her wrist doesn't falter when Samira rolls on top of her. She sighs into the kiss, free hand moving from Samira's hip to her ribs, keeping their bodies flush.
They pull back in desperate need of air and Samira murmurs "I love you, too" against her lips. Another kiss, this one punctuated with the drag of teeth across Emery's bottom lip as Samira pulls away. "So much."
-
Everything about this kiss opposes the ones they shared the night prior.
Emery remembers Samira panting into her mouth, hands in her hair and grinding on her thigh, saying "You're jealous I listened to Jack instead of you." Emery remembers tightening her hold on Samaria's hips, one arm holding her in place while the other dipped below the waistband of her sleep shorts, lips trailing hot, open-mouth kisses along the barrel of her throat. "You gonna say his name when I make you come, too?" Her lips found Samira's again, nothing about it is graceful. Teeth clacking, tongues invading each other's mouths, Emery biting Samira's lower lip and tugging her closer. Samira groans into the kiss before she pulls back, gasping heavily into her wife's mouth. Before she realizes it, her thumb hooks in Emery's mouth, fingers splayed out around her jaw. Emery bites down on it and curls her fingers just the way Samira likes, pleasure coiling deep in her stomach as she watches Samira throw her head back. "Fuck, Em-ry." She hiccups.
-
The midday sun peeks through their bedroom curtains and neither one of them bother to get up. Samira's head is on Emery's chest, feeling the rise and fall every time her wife breathes. Emery's hand is in Samira's hair, twirling a strand of curls around her finger. Samira's hand is thrown across Emery's stomach, their pinkies intertwined somewhere by Emery's hip. Their bare bodies are flush, legs tangled in a mess of sheets, and clothes strewn across their bedroom floor.
Emery kisses the top of Samira's head. "You were right."
"What do you mean?"
"I undermined you in a room full of doctors. I should've never spoken to you like that and I am so, so sorry."
Samira looks up at Emery. At her wife. At the woman she would do anything for.
"It's ok."
"No, it's not ok-"
"Emmy." Samira says. Emery shuts up. "You were right, too. I shouldn't have been doing that procedure when there was a safer option."
"The option would've killed the patient. You made the right call."
"But Abbott should've performed it. Not me." Samira's voice is soft. "You were right, it was reckless. I just wanted you to trust me."
Emery wants to curl up and die. She feels like the world's worst wife on the planet.
"I do," she whispers. "More than anyone."
Samira smiles and nearly all of Emery's worries wash away.
"I didn't mean it when I said you got lucky. No one else could've successfully done a pigtail catheter with that much chaos."
Samira beams, blush creeping its way into her cheeks. "Except Jack." She quips.
Emery gasps and pinches her hip. Samira laughs as she tried to wriggle her way out of Emery's arms (she fails).
"Do not mention him while we are naked." Emery says.
Samira's laugh turns into a full on cackle before she manages to say "You didn't seem to mind so much last night."
"Oh, I minded very much."
"Uh huh." Samira nods as she leans up to brush her lips against Emery's. She dodges Emery's lips as she tries to kiss her, subsequently drawing a whine out of the surgeon. Samira smirks. "I remember."
Emery surges forward, arm wrapping around Samira's head before she flips them over. Samira lands on her back with a gasp, momentarily stunned before Emery's mouth is back on hers. Samira fists her hands in her wife's hair, tugging her down from her mouth to the column of her throat. She groans when she hears Emery rasp "I love you" over and over again against her skin, each one punctuated with a kiss.
-
"You're so fucking cocky."
It comes out strained and breathy, the control that Emery had been trying to maintain finally giving way.
"You're agonizingly frustrating." Samira counters.
Emery's grip on the back of Samira's head falters as her wife trails kisses down her stomach. Samira's hands find purchase of Emery's hips, keeping the surgeon pinned down beneath her. She works her way back up, kissing up Emery's sternum to her throat before she nips at the spot behind Emery's good ear. Emery's hand fists in her hair, keeping her in that spot. Samira bites and tugs on her earlobe, slotting her thigh between Emery's legs.
"Always gotta be in charge." Samira husks. She rolls her hips forward. Emery throws her head back, hand fisting tighter in Samira's curls. Samira bites her earlobe again.
"Who's in charge now, baby?"
-
Samira's back is flush with Emery's front, the midday sun beaming through now. Emery draws circles on Samira's stomach with her hand, the other tangled with Samira's.
"We should probably eat something." Samira says.
Emery nods. "Yeah, probably." She kisses the back of Samira's head.
"I love you, Mira."
Samira lifts their joint hands and presses a kiss to the back of Emery's hand. "I love you more, Em."
