The Invigorating Pleasures of Elemental - our review of Pixar's latest movie!

"This movie, par for the course, is unlike anything we’ve seen before. It’s the type of story that couldn’t have come from anywhere else. It is so distinctly Pixar even as it lights a new way.

Pixar films in recent years have taken on a more intimate and personal tone. We’ve watched a myriad of experiences unfold onscreen: the woes of a parent watching their child grow up; a child learning to fill the space left by a parent; a boy leaving his family and another finding one; a girl’s terrifying but hilarious journey into puberty. Director Pete Sohn drew on his own upbringing as a child of Korean immigrants in Elemental."

Hidden Details In First Elio Trailer

We've taken a quick dive into the hidden details in the first Elio trailer! New character names, repeat voice actors, and that lovely Burrow reference.

Ambassador Grigon (the giant scary alien guy) is voiced by Brad Garrett, who has also voiced: Dim in A Bug’s Life, Bloat in Finding Nemo, and Gusteau in Ratatouille. 

There’s also a character called Ooooo.

Toy Story 5 In Development - Upcoming Pixar

A sequel in the Toy Story series has been confirmed to be in development by Disney chief executive Bob Iger in an earnings call yesterday. Bob Iger explained how Disney are "leaning into unrivalled brands and franchises" by working on sequels for Toy Story, Frozen, and Zootopia.

Red and Gold - Upcoming Pixar

Awards season is in full swing, with both the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards taking place earlier this month. Turning Red didn’t win the animation prize at either, which makes its Oscar chances a bit hard to predict.

New Elemental poster and trailer! Elemental is Pixar’s next feature length film, directed by Peter Sohn (Partly Cloudy, The Good DInosaur, also the voice of Sox, Emile, Squishy). It’s set in a city where the four elements live together - water, earth, fire, and air. Ember and Wade are the protagonists.

Pixar’s Next Movie Elemental is set to release in on June 16, 2023

Elemental will take place in a world where the four elements (fire, water, air and land) live together. Protagonists Ember, ‘a fiery young woman’, and Wade, ‘a go-with-the-flow guy’, are an unlikely pair that discover they may have more in common than first thought.

Turning Red is now available on digital, and three of the movie’s deleted scenes have just been released! This is our favourite of the three, in which Mei (in this version of the movie named Fei) mentions a 4*Town song we hadn’t heard of yet: Baby I Love Your Jeans.
