One of the compelling things about Project Hail Mary is that you can't fix it.

"What if Stratt didn't force Grace to go?" Then the Earth dies.

Project Hail Mary is a hopeful story. It is a story of friendship and what it means to be brave. It's a story about saving the world.

But you can't remove the tragedy of the story without making it unrecognizable. It's written into the bones.

What do you think of UTR&Y's characterization of Clover?

(I honestly see it unfaithful to OG/UTY Clover, which is why I seperate them both differently. Yes I see them as different characters. But I'm going to ask for your opinion.)

I've stated this numerous times, but Clover's characterisation in R&Y is a major problem for me.

They're too naive and innocent. It feels like their entire personality was made to centre around Chara (and vice versa), and pretty much none of the canon stuff was left over. Clover has a gun and isn't afraid to use it. They wouldn't be making crocodile tears over their friend having to kill a crazy racist killer fish in self-defence.

Almost all of their conversations can be boiled down to one of them saying something dumb and the other saying something dumber in response. There's no character development, no clash of ideologies. Clover and Chara should have been comparing their different experiences in the Underground (Pampered Royalty vs Hunted Powersource), not gossiping about nothing important.

I also don't like how their view of Integrity was handled.

Clover cares about the Fallen Children. Flawed Pacifist confirms that that is the case in every route. Clover should have some reaction to finding their stuff beyond assuming that the only one that they heard anything about was evil.
