The reason I cannot get into heated rivalry (or any hockey romance tbh) is that I am incapable of suspending my disbelief that these people wouldn't have horrible CTE by the end of the show and their relationship wouldn't significantly suffer due to said CTE.
Hokey romance parody that starts out as a sexy romance movie that does all the 3 acts of a standard hockey romance in the first part and randomly turns into a horror book about CTE and a scathing critique of sporting organizations ignoring it to make money.

If DC made a "Kill Trinity" vote ala Death in the Family, what would you vote?
Kill
Survive.
i'm gonna keep reading cause i do enjoy babs tarr's art and *maybe* the writing will get better but i am not enjoying the first two issues of this sirens love hurts run. it's not that it's tonally inconsistent, but it's a huge pet peeve of mine when media drops academic feminist discourse jargon in a surface level way. like this series is clearly trying to be a rompy, comedic, and sexy women-led narrative (which is cute, i love that) with commentary on how victims of sexual violence are treated poorly the further away they are from the image of perfect victim. there's a way to do both but tini howard's writing comes across as too shallow for that. i read threads on her other work that mentioned when she has a good editorial staff, it paces her writing better but i'm not sure that's the issue here.
and don't even get me started on harley's characterization, but that's honestly an across the board dc issue
In the most recent issue Ivy just casually drops that she's microchipped Harley like a dog??? That's like comically abusive what the fuck????
the sirens love hurts comic fills me with a blinding rage. the downfall of harley quinn needs to be studied because she has just become a caricature of a caricature at this point. that is not even her it makes me so sad as an og harley fan. and dont get me started on how they’re writing selina….
The genuinely offhand mention that Ivy has her microchipped like a fucking dog??? Wtf is this what??? Like if it wasn't a lesbian couple everyone would realize how fucking abusive that is.
I've never read dinahollie before and I'm already sick of them. Break up already!!
And don't get me started on bat/cat🙄 They would NOT act like this!
Also there's like, a serial killer on the loose targeting poor women and both Black Canary and Green Arrow and Batman and Catwoman start makingo out on the roof while on patrol??? TIME AND PLACE...
Why do the Sirens give Black Canary so much shit for working with the cops but not Batman?! That's one of the reasons why the Sirens don't trust Dinah bc of her connection with the cops, due to how corrupt and abusive the GCPD are. But none of them say a god damn thing about Batman despite the fact that he canonically works alongside the police!
Did the writers forget this fact or are they trying to make bat/cat go as smoothly as possible without any obstacles?
Also they give a lot of shit to Dinah for dating a rich person but like??? It's totally fine that Catwoman dates a billionare???
Sirens Love Hurts is bad for a wide variety of reasons so I'm not surprised this went through the radar but the italian in THE FIRST PANNEL OF ISSUE 4 is just like. Blatantly wrong.
Ok I asssume she means "My love", ok. Let's get a baseline translation using fucking google translate, which is often stilted and inaccurate but better than nothing.
That's a fair and correct translation of the actual idiom rather than a word for word transation. The masculine gender would be appropriate as most loan words take the masculine, so it'd be correct. The first one is so incorrect that just google translating would've been better.
So then I start thinking of how this mistake could've happened. Maybe they translated word for word? It still should've been "Mio Amore" or "Il mio amore" but at least that'd be an explaination. So I look it up.
No, "Mi" doesn't appear at all. Which is correct. Mi is an entirely different grammatical structure, with a lot of meanings but none of them are my as in the possesive.
The only possible explaination where it's not THAT GRAMATICALLY INCORRECT is if the writer meant the character to be tuscan and they just forgot the ' that detotes the removed letter in mio. But that's not something that makes sense since SHE DOESN'T SPEAK IN A DIALECT IN ANY OTHER PANNEL.
So then I'm floored that a fucking multimillion dollar comany couldn't be bothered to check how to write my love in italian. And I'm flabbergasted and I google "mi amore" to make sure I'm not crazy.
Girl did you base your italian translation on FUCKING ESPRESSSO MACCHIATO THE EUROVISION SONG???? FOR ESTONIA??? THAT ISN'T IN CORRECT ITALIAN BECAUSE IT'S A JOKE SONG???
I beg someone in editorial telling the higher ups that no one care about fucking HUSH anymore. Enough with the hush it's been 20 years why the sequel and the midquel just let hush go...
What I though we’d get from new fans after the first 2 ep: Agott is bitch!!! Burn her at the stake!
What we got: Agott is a girl!!??! Oh neat!
This fandom never fails to amaze me
I love it here 💜
Surprised the main discourse has been entirely manufactured by bigots trying to pretend there's anything inappropriate about quifrey's relationship to the girls and that author who had an entire chapter about a student being accosted by her teacher and hating it may actually make it canon that he's a nonce so people won't watch the anime
Maomao when Jinshi tries to flirt with her in the first few novels:
Hilarious page from the 60s comic I'm currently reading. My personal translation on the right because I sincerely doubt I can find the official translation from an italian 60s comic on the current interent.
Reading Diabolik and this is the SECOND SEPARATE DRAWING telling people not to abandon their dogs wtf were people going in 1960/1980 Italy...
Sometimes I see people saying "Oh you'll get 1 billion if you beat up an anime character and win" and like that's only hard if you exclusively watch battle shonen.
Like it's really fucking easy to find an anime character anyone could manage to beat up, just find some random slice of life manga with a normal child. Like I'll just beat up Nobita from Doraemon if he doesn't have prep he's fucked he gets beat up all the time. Sure I can beat up Xiaolan for a billion like I'll feel bad but like not that much.
Even in like, shonen, there's like always a normal nonpowered child or generally weak character to beat up. Like if I need to beat up someone from spy family I'll just beat up one of the random ass kids. It's NOT HARD to find a non powered character it's really not.
Why do people pretend this is a hard question? Why do people say shit like "yeah I think I could beat Kobeni from CSM" she has powers she's too risky just beat up the fucking chicken devil come on.
The concept of K-pop demon hunters being halfway to an EGOT...
We just need a musical and a tv show come on.
