Not much to report on this week, we are maintaining status quo and coparenting is going well. I’m starting to plan for next spring/summer. Where the kids and I move to and the things I want to buy for the new place has really been fun for me lately. I found a great section of townhomes near L’s school, they are a little spendy rent wise but worth it. I keep imagining the three of us walking or biking to their school in the morning and then walking to have lunch or shop downtown on weekends. The kids and I will be moving to the same town L’s school is currently in, it’s still a smaller size town but much bigger than the one we currently live in. It will have so much more for us. I cannot wait!

Met with my therapist yesterday to fill her in on how the weekend went. It was mentally draining rehashing it all again but it did help. And it was nice to clear my head, think positively, and start a plan for the future.

Originally, I contacted my therapist six months ago for couples therapy but my ex refused to go. She doesn’t believe in or like therapy. I told her I thought seeing someone would really help and that we needed to work on things before they got worse. She still wouldn’t go and well, things got worse. And honestly, I don’t see why she felt so blindsided by me this last weekend considering I have been giving signals loud and clear over the last two years that things were bad. My comments and actions were just not taken seriously until it was too late.

It does feel so weird to be in this limbo of broken up but still doing all the family things together. Like taking care of the kids and the house. I don’t mind it. And really, I prefer it over her just up and moving out or us splitting up our life right away. It feels less stressful and chaotic this way. And I think eventually it will make things easier for the kids or at least I hope it will.

Sorry to leave you guys hanging. Truthfully, I probably should have held off a bit before posting here the other day anyway but it is, what it is.

Yesterday I asked my wife for a divorce. It was hard and emotional. I’m not ready to talk much about it, there wasn’t any cheating or any big like that. We just grew apart, stayed roommates after having kids and the little problems we had grew bigger.

We plan to coparent in our house over the next year and slowly part our 15 years of life together.

I’m sad but relieved, I have not been in a good place for a long time. She is heartbroken and feels blindsided but said she knew I hadn’t been happy for years.

I feel like over the next few months I’m either going to blow my life up or get everything I want. So many changes are ahead.

I love who I am becoming, I feel more like myself than I have in years. I want to unapologetically be myself. Be my true self. Not the person people expect me to be or a mirror of the person they want me to be.

Not sure how much of it I will post here, it feels very open and too risky.
