[22:34 PM] You and your friends were at Hyuck’s apartment doing your usual movie night routine. This time though, it was your turn to pick a movie, which of course got a few complaints from the boys ‘cause you picked a rom com. Once the movie ended, all of you were either crying or at least trying their best not to. You decided to call it a day when Renjun kept on whining that he also wants to have someone to cuddle during nights like these.
“Y/N,” Hyuck called, “Let me take you home. It’s pretty late.” He offered when the five of you went out of his building. You took his offer, considering that there aren’t a lot of buses operating at this hour already.
“Wait, are you two like a thing already?” Jeno asked, pointing at the two of you. He stopped from his tracks and caught the attention of the other two.
“You’re dating?” Jaemin asked.
“That. I want to have something like that.” Renjun commented.
“No, you don’t want whatever you mean by ‘that’ ‘cause we’re not dating.” You answered. But there was that feeling in your stomach as if butterflies were dancing once again. That always happens whenever someone makes a comment about you and Hyuck.
“Yet.” Renjun said and you rolled your eyes.
Out of all your four guy friends, you were the closest and most comfortable with Hyuck. Which is why the both of you always get these types of comments almost every time you’re with other people. But no matter how much you’ve encountered them, you still cannot get used to it.
“Is it bad to take a friend home?” Hyuck said to the guys.
“But you don’t take us home.”
“Your building is two blocks from here, you’re three guys, she’s a girl, and you aren’t?” Hyuck pointed out, counting it in his fingers.
“Fair point.” Jaemin agrees. “But that doesn’t change the fact that you two look cute together and you sometimes act like a couple more than actual couples.” He said getting high fives from the other two.
At that, you just rolled your eyes and turned around, trying your best to mute and tune out the comments of the boys left behind.
The drive to your apartment was silent, the only thing that made a noise was the faint sound of the AC and the occasional humming of Hyuck to whatever song he was thinking. The scenario felt so familiar and comforting, considering you’ve done this a lot of times before: you and Hyuck in his car, him taking you home and making sure you got home safely, Hyuck glancing at you from time to time checking is you’re doing all right. You don’t know why, but it’s times like these that you just feel all fuzzy inside and you continuously wish that the road is still longer for it not to reach your building just yet.
“What are you thinking?” Hyuck asked, breaking your train of thoughts.
“Nothing.” But you yourself questioned your answer.
“You were smiling a while ago, Y/N. There’s nothing to see on the road. Unless you’re seeing something I don’t.” Hyuck pretended to gasp and you ended up chuckling at him.
The laughter died down, “I honestly don’t wanna go home yet.” You say and the boy beside you hummed, speeding up to go pass the road to your apartment.
After a few minutes of driving, you and Hyuck bought a few drinks and snacks from the convenience store and headed to the park. You decided to settle down on one of the picnic tables. There aren’t any other people besides you and him since it's almost midnight.
You sat down beside each other, and you got the yogurt drink you bought from the store. You were silent for a while, your head resting on his shoulder as you indulge your drink in hand.
“Care to tell me what you were thinking earlier in the car?” Hyuck asked again. His voice quiet and low as if there were someone else listening.
You hummed, thinking whether you should say it or not. Generally, it isn’t weird to think of spending more time with your best friend and to feel all fuzzy and nice whenever he’s around, right? That’s normal, right? But you can’t stop doubting your own statements.
“Hello? Earth to Y/N? Are you still there?” Hyuck spoke once again, snapping you back into reality.
“Nothing, really,” You removed your head from his shoulder, afraid that he might feel the rapid pace of your heart, “I was just thinking how nobody sees this side of you, except for me. Normally, you’re just the type of person to always bicker with others and tease them or annoy them. I mean, sure, you annoy me as well, but you also have this side of you that only I’m able to see.” You try and catch your breath after.
He just looked at you, a growing grin was playing on his face, “That’s a lot of thoughts for someone who said ‘Nothing.’” He mimicked your voice earlier, and you just rolled your eyes, smiling. “But, yeah, I guess you see a side of me no one ever gets to see. Please, consider yourself special.” He said, opening his arms to welcome you.
You gladly wrapped your arms around his torso while he put both of his on your back, engulfing you more into the hug. “This is exactly what I mean, you know.” Your voice is a bit muffled by his hoodie. He smelled good, a scent you’ve been so comfortable with that it just gives you the comfort you need.
“Hey, Y/N,” Hyuck called, “if by any chance, anything at all, have you ever thought of it?”
“About what, exactly?” You asked, confused, removing yourself from his grip to face him.
“Like, um, you and me together?” He asked, he must’ve thought it was weird cause he immediately let out a nervous laugh and said, “You don’t have to answer it. It was a weird question that just popped into my mind.”
“Can I be completely honest?” You asked and he just nodded, probably still embarrassed about his question. “I actually did. Sometimes. Really, really random times.” You laughed nervously.
But it was true. You do think about, sometimes more than you should. Hyuck always comes across your mind more often than anyone else. You thought about time you just wish the road was longer, you sometimes think about how it feels to constantly hold his hand and do the most random things the both of you can possibly think of. It's crazy how he's the first person you just want to say everything to.
"Why?" You ask him, wondering why he would ask that question.
Hyuck shaked his head, "Nothing, everyone always sees us like we're a couple. Which we're not."
"Which we're not." You echoed. But, somewhere, a part of you still wished it was more than that.
