After seeing the new trailer for Supergirl it came to my mind the fact that while Clark may not speak Kryptonese, making Kara think that she is the last one capable of speaking and understanding it, there is another person who, by the time she arrives on Earth, can do it. She just won't know about him until Clark joins the Justice League.

Kara, who has gotten used to the fact that she won't ever hear anyone speak kryptonese ever again, using it to say things outloud without anyone understanding her during the first time Clarks introduces her to the League: This is so stupid. I don't like these people, I don't know why Kal would think it's a good idea to associate himself with them.
Hal, responding in perfect Kryptonese, even with a slight regional accent: Has anyone told you that insulting people you just met in a different language is kind of rude?
Kara stares at him like she has just seen a ghost, frozen.

Hal: I'm a Green Lantern. My ring translates every language in the universe and gives me the knowledge to learn it pretty quickly. Basically dead idioms are no exceptions.

Kara, slightly teary eyed: The gloomy and dark one. Is he allergic to the sun or something?

Oh how I love it when DC writers put Green Lanterns in other's heroes comics, just to then conveniently make their ring be out of charge or get taken away from them, so the main character of the comic can have the spotlight.
Like, any of the lanterns would've handled this is three seconds, but this is not their story so either they get portrayed as so much weaker than they should be or their capability to fight gets taken away all togheter. It's honestly such lazy writing.
I beg DC writers, keep my wife (s) name (s) out of your comics if the only reason you want them is to nerf both their powers and their competence so your favorite can show off at their expenses.

parallax being depicted through sexual assault imagery multiple times is so interesting but then you remember that this is dc comics and that it will never be examined or even touched upon again
og parallax being LITERALLY an unhealed trauma/wound that has finally tipped hal over the edge, representing not only the cycle of abuse and how even the good guys (the victims) can end up bad (the abuser) if you push them enough, but also an unhealthy coping mechanism/trauma response (yes I know they're not the same) that was left alone for too long and the person is now an active hazard, and new (insect) parallax being a metaphor(? connected? imagery? subtext?) to sexual assault, which is a reoccurring theme around half jordan (how "flying" with someone [not the og phrasing and, frankly, I could not care less <3] has been used throughout his story to represent sexual endeavours. curiously, the first time [in hal's life, not in our world] we hear someone say this phrase in this [kinda] context was hal's father telling him this, in the middle of the night, beneath the sheets, telling him it's "their little secret". we then hear this towards carol, some other one-time appearances of hal's lovers, and in the ending of that one story where they're "flying" together, the dialogue is suggestive as all hell, and their rings are laying together on the table. I might clip this in here later if I have time), only for dc to do absoluTELY NOTHING ABOUT IT. EVER.

And then Al just has to sit there and try to process that
