Hi I finished Princess Gwen! She’s on 14 AIDA :) it took me about a year and a month, with a one month break near the end.
after all
3 Women (1977, dir. Robert Altman)
Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975) Lobby Cards
I need these more than air
overlap, pt. 1 & 2
Hello Hawkeye is officially completed!!
i'm in awe of your photo cross stitches!! can i ask what you use to create them - like is there a program out there that will turn a photo into a counted stitch chart in a way that actually ends up looking good? also how big is your princess gwen one? these are such cool projects!!
That’s really sweet! Thank you! I use Floss Cross as a free pattern maker. It should be the first thing to come up when you google a free pattern maker :)
Princess Gwen is pretty big, about 2 feet by 1.5 I think!
Hello here is my Hawkeye cross stitch that is 67% completed
Looking forward to seeing it completed!
Thank you!!! I’m about 75% now so it shouldn’t be long :)
Years ago, I had a cross stitch of the M*A*S*H cast- I'm quite certain it was this photo or a similar one:
I spent ages on this-- my arthritis was getting worse and it was agony to complete (especially with ADHD), and I finally completed it after many months of working on it.
It was about the size of a small tapestry. And about a year after I finished it, my flat in Belfast flooded when I was away. I lost nearly all of my M*A*S*H memorabilia-- this, all my autographs, scripts, old magazines, everything.
I've looked for a replacement to pay someone to make one,
But this was one of the biggest losses for me-- it sat in sewage water for two week and was un-salvageable.
Anyway, this is beautiful, and I love that you are doing this. If you ever start selling them, let me know!
Aw I’m so sorry you lost your project :( that must have been so difficult.
That’s very very kind of you, I haven’t been asked before about selling my cross stitch before, so I’ll have to think about it, but it really means a lot to hear that it’s valued in that way, thank you!
I wish there was more information about mash cross stitch kits out there, that’s so interesting. I love learning about niche merchandise.
Yeah I was very sad-- my arthritis is too far gone to attempt it now, and I'd only ruin any attempt I did have.
I've never managed to find out where those cross stitch kits went, can't even find any evidence of them! So it must have been quite a niche merch indeed. Art is always beautiful and it does not have to be monetary to have value. It can absolutely be appreciated just for being amazing art, and does not have to drag capitalism into it just for it to have that value. So don't misunderstand-- your art has value even if you never sell it. However, if at some point you consider doing so, I would certainly consider purchasing some of your art.
Look forward to the final piece! Is this your first M*A*S*H related one?
That’s very very kind. Thank you :)
This is my first mash piece, I’m planning on doing square portraits of each character. Honestly my Princess Gwen tapestry is my first cross stitch project of this level of detail, before that I was just doing small kits

So I started drafting out a undergrad level paper about Hawkeye’s obsession with pregnancy and how it relates to his character and the themes of the overall show but I had another thought I would like to ask other peoples opinion of.
The powdered eggs, could they be a representation of US imperialism and the army’s forceful implementation of “life” under war? It gets mentioned so often and the reaction to real eggs is consistent comedic levels of joy. They are force-fed manufactured “life” and American “freedom”/“innovation”.
This is probably overthinking things but the layers of Hawkeye’s pregnancy fixation are already too deep I can’t go back
Could our forefathers ever predict that we would be discussing their beloved macho main character’s suspected pregnancy kink/fixation in such detail like this?
There are so many layers to this (medicalization and his identity, losing alcohol as a coping mechanism, his queerness as an act of resistance against the military) that I cannot believe that it was thrown in so many times as a joke. But then again I might be overthinking it
