the thing about the dream smp is i dont think it actually matters at all if it was good or bad. what matters is that it was a completely unparalleled media experience and because of its specific circumstances gave me shrimp emotions that absolutely cannot be replicated

on the topic of disabled characters, though, i think a LOT of artists give characters mobility aids that their character wouldn't actually benefit from using.

i'm sort of having a mild brain fog moment rn so i can't fully articulate what i'm on about, but i think a lot of able-bodied artists view things like canes and crutches as interchangeable. and they often don't know enough about the wide range of mobility aids to make an informed decision about what their character might actually use based on their disability

i also think that aids like walkers and rollators are sort of viewed as "cringe" on some level, and many people view them to be "just for old people," so many artists will opt for giving a character who has full-body pain and fatigue a cane (which, in many cases, can potentially WORSEN full-body pain) instead. and a lot of people don't realize that most wheelchair users are able to walk, so they don't consider it an option for characters with chronic pain

idk it's kind of frustrating. i've genuinely never, ever seen a character that uses a rollator before. not once. i cannot name a single one. i know of multiple ocs who are described to have full-body pain, dizziness, and fatigue that are drawn as cane users and are never shown with wheelchairs or walkers, though

it's also sort of sad? i've been diagnosed since i was twelve years old, and i only heard of rollators LAST YEAR. and that was only because i saw one irl and immediately asked what it was. i wonder how many disabled people out there don't even know it's an option solely because they're completely underrepresented online and in media

if you're a creative with a disabled oc, PLEASEEE check out this link. it's a very nice and detailed guide for telling which mobility aids suit someone's needs best. it's incredibly important to make the right choice for your character! mobility aids tell you a LOT about someone's lived experience. picking the right one will communicate to your audience #1 what your character goes through #2 that you UNDERSTAND what your character goes through!

I'm finally watching the walking dead spin offs [I bought the dvds a while ago but I can't access them so piracy has saved the day ] and I will be liveblogging again. I'm going in with a couple spoilers but nothing too crazy so I'm happy yayy

I'm only two episodes in so far so maybe I'm being harsh again LOL bare with me. Spoilers ofc !!

Things feel a little rushed tbh, maybe it's just me but I thought it'd be more of Michonne's journey trying to find Rick. I get why they didn't do that, and I don't think it's bad at all, I think I was just expecting something different lol.

I DO enjoy that Michonne was the one to shoot Rick's helicopter down. Oough the angst potential of potentially accidentally killing the man you were trying to find I hope they do something with that.

I got the spoiler already of Rick losing his hand, I know it happens in the comics but I didn't realise it happened so soon in the pilot lmao. Love his silly assassin's creed prosthetic that's epic. Also love the trend of right hands being lost only [because then they'd have to learn to use their non dominant hand god forbid giggles]

I want to know how Rick learned Japanese, that felt very random. Like the idea of him maybe leaving that phone behind for someone he knows to find [idk if that's actually what happened I'm just guessing] like imagine seeing a little illustration of yourself and your dead kid, and then some random Japanese you can't read. I'd be so so confused. I swear michonne never even questioned it.

ANYWAY I'm excited to watch. I wanna know these guys motivations because so far it kinda feels like the commonwealth but without the political police state stuff. Like WHY are they being so insane </3 I'm intrigued.

Also so glad someone finally told Jadis her hair looks stupid. I can't believe we went so long without it being acknowledged that she has had some fuckass haircuts [I love it for her character it adds to her Vibe but still]

I'm glad the Japanese thing was cleared up too, still makes me giggle a bit.

Love Michonne's passive aggressiveness. I LOVE that she doesn't just go with what Rick says even if it does look like the safer option. She LOVES this man with a burning passion but she isn't afraid to tell him off. Love it so much, i always adored their dynamic. It never felt like 'this is Rick the leader and this is his wife at his doting side' like NO actually that's Rick And Michonne and they're strong not because The Power Of Love. Idk is this anything. Long story short I really like their dynamic and always have. Idk. I'm enjoying this show more than I thought I would!! I was worried it'd just feel like a cash grab spin off but knowing Andrew Lincoln had so much to do with it makes it feel so much better. I'm really happy to explore more of Rick's story. Even if he was the main character and we learned tons about him, it's kinda nice to see how he works in different environments. It kinda feels like early-ish days where he was kinda Insane About Everything but in a good way. Like yeah, I'd probably be so desperate as to cut off a limb too. I get it. I really like Rick man. I take back things being rushed, I think the pace is fine for a fairly short series!!
