Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Anastasya grew up with an unusual home situation. Her father, Gennady, was a mafia boss, head of one of the most well-known mafias in Russia. His men were always in and out of her home, running errands and completing her father’s dirty work. Her mother, grew to loathe the life of a mafia boss’s wife. She decided to leave her husband and three children behind. She was only five years of age when she last saw her mother. Even though she grew up motherless, growing up in the home of a mafia boss had its perks. No one would dare cross paths with young Anastasya. They were too afraid of her father and his men. And they were also afraid of her overprotective older brothers, Vitaliy and Dmitriy.
The life of a mafia boss’s daughter seemed normal to Anastasya. She was used to the frequent visits of her father’s men. She was used to witnessing murders. She had even committed several of her own over the years. Guns were as common in her house as were lamps; and drug dealings were also an everyday occurrence in her life. It was just another day in the life of Anastasya Gennadyevna Pakarina. She craved the danger, especially when she discovered the truth behind those her father and his men killed. She was eleven years of age when she learned the victims of the mafia weren’t normal. Her father and his men didn’t kill humans. They targeted the mutant population of the world. That’s right, mutants. Apparently, there were people living amongst the humans that possessed special abilities that made them a threat to the rest of the population. And it was the job of families like the Pakarins to put an end to them. They weren’t just mafia men. They were trained assassins, hunters of the non-humans; and Anastasya was about to join them.
Unfortunately, Anastasya’s life took a turn for the worse when she was fifteen. One day, she and her two brothers came home to a scene they would never forget. Their house was a mess. Windows were broken. Priceless items were gone. But the one scene that would haunt Anastasya the most was that of her father, sprawled out on the dining room floor in a pool of his own blood, two bullets in his abdomen and one through his brain, the words MUTANT SUPREMACY written in blood on the wall. Even though she had seen countless dead bodies over the years, her father’s was one of the last ones she expected to see. She had been toying with the idea of leaving the family business of being an assassin; but after that night, she knew what she had to do. She had to dedicate the rest of her life to finding and destroying any and all mutants that got in her way. She would avenge her father’s wrongful death.
That’s how she found herself in Portsmith, Washington. It was one of the safe towns set up by the United States government to house both humans and mutants together in harmony. The idea sickened her; but she thought it would be a great opportunity to continue her training and get some more kills under her belt. Leaving her brothers behind in her beloved Russia, she enrolled as an exchange student at Portsmith College and headed off to America in search of her next victim.
CONNECTIONS
Rayna Bilden [acquaintance]: Anastasya doesn’t know what to think of Rayna. She knows the girl is a reporter; and she knows the girl doesn’t back down from asking a million and one questions about the life of a mutant hunter. Even though she finds the blonde irritating and nosy, Anastasya can’t help but agree to meeting up with her and discussing her opinions on the integration. She also gets a kick out of feeding Rayna false information.
