Hello, this is my intro post, though it won't get any special tags like my other accounts, resources under cut!!

it's really just organization. my oog blog had every aspect of me together. so i will post like a person who likes medicine if their account was hacked and all their posts not about medicine was deleted.

Im @parchment-wasp-core, expect that blog to be more active, however

This blog is more focused on medical content, namely psychiatry, I'm going into premed soon (post CC) and want to pursue medicine, I am a bio major at a local CC and plan to go to university of Chicago as a neuroscience major. I work/volunteer at two separate hospitals currently

Everything I share is opinion based. I will do my best to be up to date on medical concepts and treatment.

I will not give medical advice. I find it inappropriate considering my station and I am uncomfortable with it. I will advocate for the most ethical treatment practices available, even if they feel weird to people without the disorder/without the degree to treat the disorder.

I will have more serious medicine themed posts and more lighthearted content as well.

I gotta find more medical books for my reading list. Fiction can be hard for me to get through since I tend to prefer studying.

I think I have my old anatomy book my father taught me to read off of. That's and my DSM will be my first two

Also being proud of yourself for living with, handling your disorder and/or disability is a good thing. You are strong, it's hard to make it through in a world that doesn't accommodate you and actively pushes against you. Addictive disorder but you've got use down, you're amazing, you're making progress, be proud. Violent urges but you handle them non-violently? Hell yea, you did good, be proud.

The weird idea that self hate is needed to be getting better is bigoted and anti recovery. A small step is still movement and some things will only improve. Improvement is everything.

Shame isn't a real treatment method. In fact it's been shown to be counterproductive and discourage people from seeking treatment. If a medical professional (primary care provider, psychiatrist, etc) believes you feeling shame and self hatred for a disability or disorder is akin to treatment please drop them and if you can, report them to:

State medical board

State nursing board (for nurses)

The clinic, hospital, or practice

(state specific, links under cut) If a psychologist or other licensed mental health professional does the same thing report them to:

Their licensing board

If a friend, family member, partner, or otherwise someone important to you feels this way about your disorder or disability please know that it's not your fault you have a disorder or disability and that being ill is not a moral failure.
