All USAmerican citizens benefit from imperialism and if you think your minority is exempt you’re a chauvinist. Every USAmeicans no matter how marginalized and systemically impoverished they are still benefit from an economy that build off the suffering of the imperial periphery. The basic infrastructure is build off the exploitation of the imperial periphery, every commodity sold is based of the exploitation of the imperial periphery. It is so fundamentally baked into American society that simply by existing in this land you are given major benefits that most of the world is simply not afforded. There is a reason so many refugees across the world seek refuge in America, it’s not because of grand ideas like freedom or equality or any other nonsense pushed by American mythos, it’s because simply existing here gives incredible material benefit. People that are lucky if they’re allowed in the white towns and cities with those street names because some places you still disappear for being native. You’re going to tell them this shit? Peopke who’s grandparents and great grandparents were stolen off to schools were white people tortured them if they acted like themselves or spoke their own language. There’s so many people that suffered no matter which President was in charge but under Trump people are starting to lynch people again openly, lots of places they were still lynching people quiet like. Sure maybe that kid had a cheaper set of sneakers and his family got cheaper prices on food but don’t you tell minorities here they’re anything like white people here. Have you ever had a man in his sixties call you boss when you’re not even ten? Have you experienced full grown elders deferred to you just because of racism? These people ain’t living it up like the majority here. Open a damn history book before you try to group them in with the white people here. I get it you hate Americans. Who can blame you but learn the damn difference from a rich person of color and the vast majority of them here. By the way no one here will understand chauvinism correctly so just say nationalism or jingoism.

Your bed is soaked in blood, your clothes are soaked in blood, every tool you used every place you go every single thing you do you use with items soaked in the blood of people in the imperial periphery.

Try and conceptualize that for me, just how much in your life is made in developing countries, just how much blood the very daily items you need to function as a human being are soaked in.

So this is not a plea for money. This is something that surprised me, and chatting with people on discord, they were unaware of as well.

Discovered last year I couldn’t look at my 2015 MacBook Air without it triggering nausea and migraines, and figured the screen died. Have been getting by on my phone, but concluded I really need a laptop again.

Saved up, realised I could afford a brand new MacBook Neo, and got one.

-And I couldn’t spend more than five minutes looking at the screen without massive eye strain, nausea, vertigo, and if I pushed it, I-need-to-lie-down-in-a-dark-room-for-hours migraines.

Looking up MacBook and Eyestrain explained what is going on. The liquid retina displays that Apple currently has uses Pulse Width Modulation or PWM. In order to give the screens a deeper depth of colour and contrast, PWM flickers between several hundred to thousand times a second.

And there is currently no way to turn it off. There are settings and apps to reduce it, but there is no way to stop the screen from flickering. Checked Apple forums, called Apple Support, and the time I could look at the screen kept shrinking. Got the laptop Tuesday, returned it Friday, today is Sunday and I’m still dealing with a vertigo migraine.

For MacBooks, it seems to vary on the computer model and the software it uses. In retrospect, the issue with my MacBook Air started after a major software update.

And it’s not just an Apple thing. Current Windows and Android screens do the same thing. There’s even a Reddit for people who are sensitive to PWM flickers to help find computers and screens that won’t trigger eyestrain and headaches.

So, yeah. This week has been a learning experience. But for those who are prone to headaches and migraines, this may be something to be aware of, cause I was not.
