Scene Prompt
“A, you’re bleeding,” B said, a crease forming between their eyebrows. They’d spotted the dark, slowly spreading patch staining A’s pants shortly after they’d noticed the limp.
“Noted.” A continued their brisk pace, and their limp disappeared even as their expression twisted into a grimace.
“Hey.” B lagged a few steps behind A and accelerated to catch up. “Hey.” Grabbing A by the bicep, they forced them to stop.
“What?!” A snarled as they spun around, but when they saw the stern, almost angry look on B’s face, their irritation faltered.
“I need to at least wrap your leg, or you’re going to be delirious from blood loss by the time we get there anyway. Sit down.”
Something in B’s voice commanded attention, a deep, firm quality A hadn’t heard before, and A balked but ultimately sat. As B knelt down beside them, A squinted, their gaze assessing.
“What is it?” B asked, nudging A’s legs apart to give them room to work.
“I’ve never heard you so… serious. You’re always joking and laughing. I’m the one that gives orders.”
Shrugging, B tore a wide strip off their cloak, the material protesting with a shriek. “Right now, you need someone to be more stubborn than you are.” They began to wrap it tightly around A’s wound with quick, sure movements.
Gritting their teeth against the pain, A frowned. “So… what, you just cater to my needs? What about what you want?”
B paused, their fingers rested against A’s thigh. “You being okay is what I want.”
