…Okay but actually y’all should be aware that the new trend of complicated anime eyes is actually a very serious problem, because it’s literally impossible for the artists to draw those stupid fucking eyes quickly enough to earn a living.
If you don’t want to read the article, the problem is they make production slow to a crawl, so doing three frames with complicated eyes in them will take about two hours. The average pay for one frame is 200 yen, which comes out to about two dollars. These are grown ass adults doing their fulltime job to pay their bills. And these god awful eyes are making them do two hours of work to earn six dollars.
The detailed eyes are not a good thing.
Actually no.
The detailed eyes are not the issue and not what should be criticized.
Japan’s animation industry is *grossly* abusive to it’s employees. Animators are constantly being forced into crunsh for minimal pay.
Animation jobs should be saleryed. The entire concept of “compensation per fram” is absolutely horrible and is what we should focus our energy on.
Like how can you read “These people get paid 6 bucks for 2 hours of work” and blame the thing they produced rather then the industry model that causes them to be so grossly under payed?
Reminder these animators are also expected to live IN TOKYO to be close to their studios. I don’t think I need to remind you that Tokyo is ONE OF THE MOST EXPENSIVE CITIES TO LIVE IN.
Also the true reason I’m reblogging this again is to warn any animators or up and coming animators that the anime industry has started scoping out western animators to hire to their anime studios.
This is not a good thing.
They are doing this because less and less Japanese animators are able to even work under these conditions and even when they do they literally don’t last long. However Western animators are very often anime fans themselves, so being approached by an anime studio and being offered a chance to actually work ON an anime soundslike a dream come true!
IT IS NOT.
The $2 per frame of drawing thing is 100% true and not an exaggeration. Most animators break within a couple of years to a few months depending on their abilities and how long they can push themselves for. The studio just replaces them with fresh talent. The salaries for animators in Japan have remained stagnant for literally DECADES despite everything else costing more in life.
Do NOT get suckered into this death machine of an industry if you’re ever approached on Twitter. Or at least be VERY FUCKING SURE you know what you are signing yourself up for.
There’s a reason animators and Mangaka very very rarely live past the age of 60.
i just read a washington post article on romcoms aging poorly due to the pushiness (and oft-stalkery conduct) of the male characters therein, and it got me thinking about pride and prejudice, and specifically darcy saying, “one word from you will silence me on this subject forever.”
because, like, that’s the seldom-portrayed romantic dream in the patriarchal hellscape that is our world, isn’t it?
a dude being willing to say, “i understand if you don’t feel the same way about me, and i’ll leave you alone forever about this if my attention is unwanted.”
so simple, yet so wonderful in its basic human decency
and dudes to this day wonder why women still swoon over darcy
Note also: Elizabeth turns down Darcy’s first proposal, and in the process, accuses him of doing some stuff he did not do (and also some stuff he totally did).
The next day, he surprises her on her walk. He hands her a letter, asks that she read it, and then takes off.
When this happened to me after I had turned someone down IN REAL LIFE, the letter contained a passionate argument to the tune of “actually you’re wrong and you do like me and you should go out with me” and it was creepy af.
Darcy’s letter to Elizabeth starts with: “Be not alarmed, Madam, on receiving this letter, by the apprehension of its containing any repetition of those sentiments, or renewal of those offers, which were last night so disgusting to you”. He goes on to set the record straight about the stuff he didn’t do (as well as the stuff he did) which is *actually relevant* to Elizabeth. And he, as promised, doesn’t romance her further.
It’s totally bizarre that even now, this can be considered unusually great dude behaviour.
Darcy’s first proposal: “You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.”
Darcy’s second proposal: “One word from you will silence me on this subject forever.”
His whole arc in the book is about learning to consider other people’s feelings and not just his own, but the fact that it’s expressed via who gets to talk and who is told to shut up is so, so telling. The first time around, he imposes his voice on her whether she wants it or not. The second time, he asks how she feels, and in exchange, offers her the gift of his silence.
And yeah, the fact that dudes still! have! not! learned! this! lesson! is exhausting.
How surprising is it that Pride and Prejudice was written by a woman, when many romantic comedies are produced and directed by men?
Answer: not at all
200 years later and the world is still full of guys who think they’re a Mr Darcy when they’re actually a Mr Collins.
200 years later and the world is still full of guys who think they’re a Mr Darcy when they’re actually a Ross Geller.
All of this.
Chiming in to add that, after The Letter, when Darcy runs into Elizabeth, he doesn’t approach the subject of romance again until after his aunt drives across the country to confront Elizabeth and Elizabeth refuses to say she would never marry Darcy. Only then does Darcy return to the subject with the caveats noted above about the second proposal - when he had a legitimate and rational reason to believe the situation had changed.
I’ve told dudes that I wasn’t interested try again a bit later and there had been no indication that anything had changed. They just assumed if they kept at it, they’d eventually wear me down. Darcy would not have ever brought the subject up again but-for his aunt’s behavior and Elizabeth’s statements in response.
I’m so used to boomers ruining social media platforms but these fine gentlemen singlehandedly made tiktok worth it.
I love everything about this. They all Get It. They’re doing this comedy thing RIGHT.

Y’all being pregnant while moving into a new house is BUCKWILD
My husband is an intelligent man, but he has gotten in his head that if I lift one box I will PERISH
Here is the problem in a nutshell
Would I love to let my husband do everything? Of course?
But this absolute GIANT of a man after TEN YEARS together still has no spatial awareness and NO AWARENESS that his a A FOOT AND A HALF taller than me. If he is left to put thing away, he will do so diligently but he PUTS EVERYTHING ON THE TOP SHELF and my TINY TREX ARMS CAN NOT MAKE THAT TRIP
I threw out my back and he’s now convinced that it’s his fault for letting me carry paper plates in the house my self and that he’s going to be a terrible father
This man has a LAW DEGREE and is a PRACTICING ATTORNEY
“You have two skeletons inside you right now that is double the amount I have. You are my sweet special Eldritch Horror” - My Husband
Thanks I think?
“It’s insane that we just made a person! I’ve never even met a baby before what do I say?!”
Not worried about diapers here folks, just first impressions
“I’m going be be a dad which is just buckwild. I have your pregnancy checklist but here is my fatherhood check list
1. I need a riding lawn mower
2. I need a white tank top
3. I need a beer, particularly an amber colored one
4. I need a book of puns
5. I need a baby back pack to carry said baby
6. I want my own diaper bag, and I want it to be STYLISH
Kait are you writing this down this is important?”
Me: a lot of people on the internet are calling you a himbo, would you like to respond?
Husband: I am often very dumb, and I do drink the respect women juice like fine wine, however I am not very strong, and I just don’t know if I can accept this title if I do not meet all the qualifications
Me: I don’t know, you lifted all those boxes on your own
Husband: this was simply DAD ENERGY
🤦♀️🤦♀️
I can not with this fool
literally marry him
I have great news my friend
marry him again
I’ve read him some of these replies and he got very upset and yelled (which if you know my husband is barely over a whisper) “I CANT MARRY YOU ANY HARDER I KNOW IVE GOOGLED IT MANY TIMES”
Y’all I’m obsessed with this idiot
So I doodled one of these then instantly became obsessed with the idea and can’t stop and have been spamming twitter with brain wolf facts sorry everyone.
why do grooms get one boring black jacket and brides get the most jawdropping gowns ever like when i get married i want pearls and lace and a train is that too much to ask??
Hnn could you imagine.. a suit embroidered with baroque pearls… a LACE CAPE gently floating behind the groom… a fuckin sword..

Meanwhile in Scotland…
YO, there are SO MANY great groom outfits around the world where he is dressed all in silk, lace, gold, pearls and glitter, with capes and scarves, hats and stitchery and I find it so sad that most of these countries switch over to “suit”. Like, look at these handsome boys!

Small things that exude Big-Dick Energy:
when a guy drives calmly and safely
when they cook so competently and unself-conscious and focused on making the food
when a man rolls up button-ups to his elbows
when their eyes become softer when looking at you
Being kind
Speaking passionately about pretty much anything
stretching all casual-like
the act of loosening the necktie
All of these are legit
“Is This Healthy” is a comic that I made for an independent study in which I looked deeper into the idea of health, mental, physical, and emotional as it relates to myself.
This project was extremely personal and I thank any of you who take the time to read it
It is so hard to unlearn fat-shaming rhetoric, and it takes a lot of strength and vulnerability to even try. <3
