May 27 1977: Space Mountain Opens at Disneyland

A grand opening ceremony takes place at Disneyland in honor of its newest attraction, Space Mountain. Six of the surviving astronauts from the original seven Project Mercury space travelers, and the widow of the seventh attend the ceremony.

The Space Stage, Space Place restaurant and the Starcade arcade all opened that day as well.
