racism literally bleeds through the cracks of everything and if you dare to even barely point it out everyone will kill you
racism runs so deeply in people that if you call it out you are calling out them, and instead of sitting down and examining their own racism they lash out at you for being sooo meansies to them. you don't even have to be talking about anyone's racist behavior in particular because it makes racists so uncomfortable they will come forward themselves and act like you're targeting them specifically. it's okay when they do it because they're doing it in the correct way, in the nice way! they don't mean it like that. in fact they're actually being progressive. you're the cruel one for acting like their racist behavior is racist. you're the problem if you're bothered by their comfort racism. you're the bitchy colored person who makes eeeverything about racism when it so clearly isn't. i'm fucking sick of this.
Misogyny is a common occurrence in gacha games which makes sense since female characters in these games are primarily designed with a straight male target audience in mind. Even if the characters are written respectfully, at least visually they have to appeal to that demographic.
I tend to not interact with communities for the games that I play because of that, but when I'm enjoying a game I do see things around the internet anyway.
Female characters in Arknights Endfield tend to be portrayed in a much less horny light than in other gachas I've played, and yet somehow I've seen many more misogynistic comments around the game. In particular what bothers me the most is how the community treats the female Endministrator, the player character.
I've seen the male Endmin referred to as cool and badass, every time I see conversations about the "Endministrator" they are just referred to with he/him pronouns, almost every video I've seen had the male Endmin. There is content of the female Endmin as well, which usually boils doing to "goo goo gaa gaa" or chibi "Pengmin" memes which I don't even have to explain why they are extremely infantilizing.
Yes, the female Endmin IS cute, but she's also a charismatic and empathetic leader. She's serious when it calls for it but can be goofy when she wants to lighten the mood. She's still extremely competent and has a commanding voice (I play in english and Chloe Eves does a fantastic job voicing her). It makes me sad when people degrade the female Endmin with infantilizing memes because she has so much personality for a gacha game protag and in no way fits "worse" for the story than her male counterpart (I'd argue she fits even better).
Got Chen3. I really like her. I wish this was her one and only alter.
it does suck that the government defunded PBS but it's also so fucking funny that now that they don't take uncle sam's slavery dollars they're running videos like "How america's foundation was built on genocide"
no more being polite about it fuck the USA
FORGET EVERYTHING, THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT OPERATOR FOR ME TO PULL MAX POT FOR!!
weird how quick fascists went from “the world is overpopulated. close your legs. stop having kids.” to “pop out 3 babies right now. you have no choice. you have to. it’s your duty and your only purpose.” when they realized they might not have enough vulnerable individuals to exploit in the labor force if the birth rate continues declining
spoiler alert: these two ideals still exist and pervade fascist spaces. and they coexist. what they mean by “the world is overpopulated” they mean there’s too many brown people. what they mean by “pop out more kids” is that they want more white people.
it’s important to view things outside of a white lense.
so about the “isn’t she lovely” sequence, if there wasn’t such mistreatment of black characters and black fans, do you think it would still be appropriate for tadc to reinterpret the song’s meaning?
No.
The concept of trying to reinterpret the song's meaning is exactly what I have an issue with.
"Isn't She Lovely" is a Black song, made by a Black man for his Black daughter. It is a song about Black joy, about Black fatherhood and beautiful Black baby girls. It is about Black people. It is for Black people.
Yet again, the issue is not with gender, but it is about race. To take that song out of its original context and rehash it into something whiter is what I take the most offense to, it's completely disrespectful and it doesn't even pay homage to the original culture. It's a form of whitewashing that is incredibly sinister, because it often follows along the logic of "wanting everything to be for everybody".
But you can't possibly partake in other cultures if you do not understand those cultures first, if you don't take the time to listen and be generous. To them, the song is just a song. Like most facets of the show, they take these brilliant works and strip them down to scraps, then try to spin that into something brilliant by telling people to look at the "abstract" and what isn't there. Then people go and theorize and completely overwrite the original intention, they erase the meaning, and it's very painful to witness.
The mistreatment of Black people both in and outside of the show is WHY they used the song in the first place, certainly part of it. If they had respect for Black people then this wouldn't even be a conversation.
its actually easy to de-enshittify your digital experience all you need to do is install this browser extension and this browser extension and this browser extension and input this custom script into the advanced box and go into your system settings and reconfigure all these options you didnt know existed and change your entire workflow and switch to this alternative operating system and this alternative web browser and this alternative chat client and this alternative word processor and this alternative- sorry that one turned out to be malware delete that one okay now double check your task manager for unwanted background processes and element block these ads and invest in a good VPN and append all your searches with AI blocking keywords and wait a few years until everything you just did becomes shitty too so you can do it all over again okay kitten. its literally that easy.
Would Mesprit Be A Good Pet?
Usually, legendary and mythical Pokémon would not make good pets. Usually they’re either unimaginably dangerous, critical to the existence of the universe, or both. Mesprit… isn’t? If Mesprit decided they were cool with being your pet, the world wouldn’t collapse. Looking at their moves, they could probably really throw you around with their mind but couldn’t delete you from existence or anything (probably). There’s only one Mesprit, so there is the hurdle of traveling to Lake Verity in the Sinnoh Region to meet them and ask them to be your friend… plus the fact that only one of you readers could have them as a pet. But! All things considered! Sure. I guess Mesprit would make a pretty good pet.
Mesprit is known in legend as “The Being of Emotion”, a wise being that taught humanity emotions (Diamond). In fact, they’re said to be the originator of all emotions (Platinum). So we know that Mesprit has historically gotten along with humans, even though today they spends their time at the bottom of the lake (Pearl). In the past, it was believed that Mesprit would “throw your emotions into disarray” if you disrespected them (Legends: Arceus), though this claim has not been made by modern researchers.
If Mesprit was your pet, they might even create new emotions to teach you. That’d be weird. But not bad, I guess. You would need to get used to coming across Mesprit’s limp, seemingly lifeless body in your home from time to time: they have the ability to astral project their spirit to roam around the area while staying in one place (Pearl).
Legendary and mythical pokémon are, in general, difficult to cover with my pet-ranking algorithm. Mathematically, Mesprit would make a pretty good pet. I don’t really know if it’s a good idea, per se. I just think it might be kinda awkward.
Have you used Mesprit?
Yes, and would again

Okay small tangent before I get to my pulls, I am NEVER playing Endfield on my laptop ever again! That was freaking miserable!!!
Anyways, nothing too exciting here outside of winning the coin flip at soft pity, but hey, any banner where I don't have to hit guarantee is a win in my book. Also her weapon only took one issue, so that ensures whoever I'm pulling for next will get their #1 weapon! Which might be 13th Sui proxy unless they give us someone I like even more before her, but who knows.

the most valueable skill a white leftist can ever learn is how to take an L with grace.
You gotta be able to take an L if your moral and ethical belief systems are to be capable of guiding you. Otherwise you just have an idealized self where you get really mad and scared when anyone points out it isn't actually you. How the fuck are you gonna walk the walk if you can't handle being told when you are not, in fact, actually walking it
you cannot just socially transition into being a good person you are going to have to settle for being a messy human being who has to try and fail and keep trying to get better like everyone else. yeah even when it's embarassing and sucks for you a lot.
Ya gotta learn to earnestly and honestly say "Oh shit, my bad."
And to then end the sentence there, not launch into a paragraph of explanation or panicked super-apology.
Wise words.
