2018 art summary ! :)

i dont see much change besides like, relearning how humans work once i started another figure drawing class in september, but if yall see a change i didnt notice id love to hear it :3

hey check it out! this is a piece I made for the painting project in my digital imaging/art class :)

this baby is a potion seller who happens to be a cat. the creation of this kitty was purely self-indulgent and I love them.

Ideally someday I’d like to .... I dunno, make a little game or a series of comics featuring this cat.

Art 175 sketches 17 - 20 for the digital imaging project

Time taken: 4 - 5 hours

The things I focused on most were values, composition, and figuring out how spiral staircases work. They’re the worst.

Anyway, these sketches aren’t as like, detailed or textured as my other sketches. But that’s because most of the time was spent on those stupid stairs.

I’ll either go with composition 2 or 4. They’re closest to what I had in my head. I want a view of the room from high up, because that’s where the entry to this chamber is. The stairs are, unfortunately, kind of important too; to kind of lead the viewer into the room, or something.

p.s. this scene/room is from Critical Role. Its the room at the top of the temple with the lizard people and the weird fountain etc etc.

Time taken: hmm. 2 hours for the first one, 3 hours for the second one, 1 hour for the third one, and like an hour and a half for the last one. 7.5 hours I guess?

The 3rd and 4th images are the ones I made first. I feel they’re kind of weak. The idea and general feel are there, but the execution wasn’t great. I went into both of them without warming up first so they came out wonky. It’s alright though.

The story I decided to illustrate for is all about cheap/easy Halloween makeup. These are a bunch of ideas for the cover, and then for the actual article I’ve created diagrams for 3 of these makeup looks (the deer, the mermaid, and the pumpkin).

I am cleaning my folders in between client work! It’s good to touch up some wip sketches to get them out of the way. I mean seriously… How many unfinished sketches one can hoard in the WIP folders? 181 GB apparently.
