Controversy Erupts Over Creationism Debate

The highly anticipated debate between Bill Nye and Ken Ham isn’t scheduled to begin until 7 p.m. EST on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

Refusing to debate someone because by claiming their argument is invalid is a form of stonewalling. A convenient way for the bureaucracy to control thought. It is not like Creationism is some mystic aberration held by hoveling peasants in a cave. 

Creationist do not need or “crave: the oxygen of respectability in the world of real science.”

That is yet another bigoted saying that demeans people and their faith.

The entire Renaissance was about faith and the freedom to explore science.

Isaac Newton, Leonard Euler, Michael Faraday, Charles Babbage, Louis Pasteur, Joseph Lister, Ambrose Fleming, James Clark Maxwell, Werner Von Braun, Blaise Pascal all established Creationists who contributed world changing science.

So stop already with the underhanded insults.

Faith has no place in science. Faith is the belief in something without evidence, and science is based on nothing BUT evidence. And yes, creationism is invalid because there is no evidence supporting it except an ancient book written by uneducated men. However, there is plenty of evidence supporting evolution.

But the big difference is that when two gay people screw it's between two consenting adults, not between two people where one of them feels uncomfortable, unhappy, or is being forced into it. So do with that as you will.

Yes. Evolution is completely based on chance. It's just chance that us humans are bipedal, and is not at all due to bipedalism actually being beneficial to the species, and allowing those who were more bipedal than others to survive longer and therefore reproduce more, thus passing their genetics on and resulting in a more bipedal generation. Nope, that and all other evolutionary changes were all based on chance.

Don't You Just Hate When Atheists Complain?

Like most teens, I have gone through my fair share of bullying. While most school-related bullying was based more on my looks or quiet personality, the bullying that I have experienced in my household was prominently attacks on my religious views, or rather lack thereof. This is why I feel so frustrated whenever I overhear someone talking about how atheists complain too much, or how they never really get bullied, or how they're the ones who are bullying themselves. Sure, some atheists may never have to face bullying whatsoever, and some of them may actually be the bullies. But that most definetly isn't true for quite a few of us. I myself have been harrassed by my mother and brother because of my atheism, and while the rest of my family is fairly more accepting, I still get a few passive-aggressive comments from them every now and then as well ("I suppose not all of us can be capable of having faith!"). Not only have I been told I was selfish, foolish, blind, and a sheep by the people I love, but I have also been forced to cut off communication with my mother just so I don't have to put up with her degrading me and making me feel worthless. My relationship with my brother, while a bit better, can still leave me feeling drained of life and energy at times. His holier than thou attitude keeps him from understanding my own point of view, and not once has he stood up for me against our mother. So no, us atheists aren't just being whiny, we're just trying to draw attention to the fact that our needs and well-being is being ignored by the public.
