He just looks at me, brows ever so slightly furrowed. I ask him ‘what’. “You’re so much nicer drunk, I can’t tell which version of you is more you.” “That,” I pause to laugh. “is the thing, though.” I look him in the eyes, stunning dark blue like nothing I’ve ever seen before. “I don’t exist.”

The wind howls and rain immediately begins to soak the inside of the car. I steady the wheel with one hand as I swing my legs to the side and clutch the backpack to my chest with my other hand.
