Howling Wind
The wind shakes my house.
A tired weight
presses down on my body.
Eyes heavy-
unable to close them.
Restless feet
fidget under my blanket.
The house creaks-
the wind roars.
I think about starting the car.
Moving is too hard.
I contemplate
what I should
make my body choose.
Still,
I face the wall.
Eyes open,
feet restless-
heart in a blender.
Surely if I get up
and go on with my day,
I will feel better.
Will I...
feel better?
I want to hold on
to these precious memories-
preserved like jelly.
The wind shakes my house.
All it needs is one good blow-
to knock it all down.
Will she take me?
The wind.
When I exit these walls,
will she be waiting
to swoop me away?
Will I welcome it
with open arms,
or do I stay?
The car is started.
The wind waits to guide me.
The sun and the moon
now reunited,
have to wait once more
for my embrace.
