Reality designation: The Heroic Age
Classification: Alternate reality

Overall history of reality is similar to Earth-616. No specific point of
divergence has been recorded, but a sum of small changes, most
involving super-heroes.
OVERVIEW
Champion of the British Isles and its people, and endowed with
mystical powers by the Amulet of Right, Elizabeth is the
protector of her reality and the only Betsy Braddock in the
Omniverse who was tested in place of her brother, Merlyn's
favorite Brian.
Adored by the public and trusted with the security of her
country from multiversial threats, she's trying to juggle her
demanding mission as part of the Corps with her private life as
wife of a cosmically-altered mutant angel.

Sadly, after working behind the scenes for the better part of 2025, I hit a block - not a writer block or what, just... lost the drive to do things. I basically just read fanfictions in the last six months, with little to nothing written or done on my own. After taking over any spare moment I had in 2025, the Captains Britain project has been neglected, I can't even open the docs without immediately closing them, I can't focus enough to even re-read anything from that. I did manage to fix two scenes that held back the third chapter though, so that might see the light in the near future (if I managed to fix the related manip/art)
I have been working on a new Fandoms in Star Trek thing (spoiler: One Piece: Live Action) but it's been taking too long for my liking - especially because this specific fandom makes it that the story is getting out of control (no, scratch that, it already went out of control and I'm trying to do damage control here - I keep adding remix of canon episodes and details to what is meant to be a list of brief bio for the main characters).
A further look into why I'm slow at writing (or, more specifically, at sharing what I write - other than the generic "can't seem to finish something"):
My drafts and first versions are written in a mix of English and Italian (my native language). Which means double the work when it's time to turn that into a full English version. Because, while it technically means translating what was still in Italian, more often than not it requires complete rewrite of full lines because the line works with a construction that can't be translated "as it is. Verbs with different prepositions or expressions that are completely different. A line that is perfect in Italian, suddenly sounds off or wrong when translated. Not to mention when I have a vague idea of an English expression or a verb spelled wrong and I can't find the right one.
Random example taken from Word Refence.
Per il mio compleanno i miei amici hanno fatto un'improvvisata a casa mia.
There isn't a literal translation for "improvvisata", which (in this context) means that someone comes to your house without announcing themselves, thus surprising you. English translates it with a boring "surprise" (not a "made me a surprise visit/made me a surprise by coming over" - no, just a surprise verb) which I guess conveys the general meaning, but "improvvisata" has a stronger meaning - here they ("my friends") decided together, behind your back, to do this "surprise apparition" to my house. It’s meant to convey a “unexpected visit, mostly appreciated, of a person of more”. To turn it all this into a simple verb feels... disappointing.
Anyway, a literal word-by-word would sound like this:
For my birthday my friends made a [unexpected welcome visit] at my house.
The translation offered by Word Reference is instead
My friends surprised me by coming over to my place on my birthday.
See? Same meaning, but the line is completely reworked. And it takes a while to do it on my own. More often than not, additionally, I'm even unwilling to change my lines in the first place - I like the Italian term/verb and I can't accept that English offers a more boring or more common one to my refined, more specific one, or that I need to simple down an otherwise well constructed line.
Another example, mine this time.
Word-by-word translation:
(...) with a look on her face that doesn't exactly clarify if she finds the thing funny or not.
Which not only sounds odd, but might also be grammatically wrong. Perhaps it might be right, grammar speaking, but it doesn't flow - the issue is the "clarify" verb, which is the correct translation to the one I used in Italian, but I don't think it's meant to be used in this context. So you either go for a different verb ("explain"/ "tell"), or you need to reword the entire line. Too many times I'm unwilling to change (I find it really hard to edit what I've already written, down to the single word), so I waste a lot of time surfing through synonyms in the hopes to find the one that fits, to then fail and waste another lot of time, this time to play with the whole line instead, hoping to come up with a better final version.
An no, I don't want to use AI tools to make the work for me and fix the flow.
So, yeah, this is one of the many reason why I'm mostly inactive on the publishing side of the fanfic writing.

The original art is a Selene Gallio from the cover of New Mutants Forever #1. I have initially used the art for a Vampire Betsy, and was colored to reflect Betsy's Outback Armour (and added some vampire features). Then I found better pics for that AU and the edited image was stored for a future use.
When I decided what to do with this piece, I ended up finding hair that would fit Caucasian Betsy.

Tec stuffs (aka Behind The Manip)
Other than recolors, I had to fix the deep cut of the neckline. The Outback Armor is pieces of armor worn on top of some kind of catsuit. I played a bit to get this same effect, and found a way to partially mask the boobs. I didn't manage to make it look like it's the same fabric on the legs, but I think the result is good.
And then… the hair issue happened. See rambles about this at the Captain Britain related piece.
I also had to hand-draw the mask. Once again, I failed to make it look like it's the same fabric of the catsuit, but… whatever.

The body (Black Queen/Selene Gallio) comes from the cover of New Mutants Forever #1.
The hair (Magma/Amara Aquilla) comes from interior art, specifically the last page of New Mutants Forever #2.
Interior arts from the series belong to Al Rio, with inks by Bob McLeod and colors by Guru-eFX.
I can’t find specific credits for the cover art (there’s only Rio’s signature on it), but it’s likely Al Rio did only the pencils, with inks and colors provided by the same team who did the interiors.
The butterfly effect was found on Google time ago, can't remember from where.

I have initially used the art for a Vampire Betsy, and was colored to reflect Betsy's Outback Armour (and added some vampire features). Then I found better pics for that AU and the edited image was stored for a future use.
Later, I decided that I could turn the image into a Vampire Captain Britain. But, once I finished, it dawned on me that I could make a quick edit of it to share the pic as a redesign of 616 Captain Britain. Other changes were made (both to the costume and the hair), to make the two versions different.
This is the result.
———————————————————————————————
Tec stuffs (aka Behind The Manip)
At first it was just a matter of recolor.
Then the project went out of control. First, I decided that I wanted to add the Union Jack to the sides part of the bodice where originally there's lace. Which meant wrap the flag and then redraw it to make it fit the style of the art, all the while masking the ink of the lace pattern itself (the pattern will be kept for the Vampire Captain Britain version).
Then there was the deep cut of the neckline. I thought Betsy would love some sexiness, but not at the cost of her boobs getting free any time she's fighting: Psylocke's (in)famous ninja costume has a lot of issues, but boobs peeking is not. While the Vampire Captain Britain will keep the deep neckline, 616 Betsy won't. So I had to play with some styles to reduce the neckline, but in the end I went for some kind of tulle/half-transparent fabric: I wouldn't know where to start to redraw the whole bodice to remove the deep neckline.
And then… the hair issue happened. Selene's hair are black, and it featured a lot of black ink, making it impossible to turn it purple: it would just look like black hair with violet highlights. Which fitted the Vampire Betsy aesthetics, but I wanted to do a different look for the alternate edit. So I decided to see if I could replace them with a blond head. Easier said than done, when working with comic arts, as you can spot the different pencil and the different coloring, so the best is search not only from the same artist but from the same comic book, hoping that the colorist is the same. I managed to select a couple of shots of Magma with her luscious blond hair and made an attempt with them. I had to cut and paste and redraw here and there but managed.

Full Archangel from the cover of Cullen Bunn's Uncanny X-Men #7.

An exercise that took way more time that it seems.
The original art features Warren as perfectly split in two, depicting his two sides (Angel on the left and Archangel on the right).

Other content about the character linked above.
———————————————————————————————
Notes
This came out of a discussion over CBR forums, where a poster commented that something was "off" in the anatomy. To check where was the issue, I played with the two halves; while Angel's side is very off, and would need heavy reworking from navel down to fix it, Archangel worked, so I decided to work to make a finished art.
Greg Land did a similar cover with Betsy Braddock for Uncanny X-Men #509, where he again fucked up with the hips and legs proportions. I tried a couple of months ago to work on that art, but I couldn't fix the issue. I might give it another try in the future.
Or try a Warren-Betsy two pieces (Angel-Caucasian!Psylocke / Archangel-Ninja!Psylocke).
———————————————————————————————
Tec stuffs (aka Behind The Manip)
I took the original half (right) and flipped it. It was necessary to do some reconstruction/redraw to make the two parts blend, especially the decorations of the glass behind Warren.
Betsy's face too needed to be fixed. I moved her a little higher, so she aligned to Mystique, but that required some redraw too. Also, her colors needed a fixing to remove the sun/golden light.
The textless version I used had a portion of the legs covered, so I had to copy them from another source and blend the two parts.
Lastly, changed Archangel's eyes from yellow to red (as in canon), and made it more silver. Also added some light.
No AI involved. All made with a mouse, not pens involved (that would've have shortened the time). Just Photoshop CS2.

Earth-33 native version of Betsy Braddock, also the Captain Britain of his reality.
Edited art related to the fanfic More Captains Britain (and their Warren), ch2.
———————————————————————————————
Since I can't post here on Tumblr the full formatted fics, I decided to share as a stand-alone the full-size version of edited pics I include in the fics galleries.
———————————————————————————————
Tec stuffs (aka Behind The Art)
I merely changed colors (which isn't as quick and easy as it might sounds – it took me hours to properly have everything fixed). My intention was to turn the hair from Brian's blond to black, but how the hair in this specific art are drawn, is impossible (there are no highlights, so it would be just a block of black). To make it work I would need to hand-repaint them (which I wouldn't know where to start from, especially to fit the rest of the coloring). So I instead decided to color them purple and retroactively return to the fic to make the story work with the image. Crazy, isn't it?
Originally I wanted to use the art of James Braddock with the original Captain Britain costume as seen in Excalibur (2001) #3, and merely switch head with the one of the pic from the trade paperback (I needed the masked face). Changed my mind, but kept the color scheme.

Anal:
Spend (=waste) a good portion of an evening to find a way to fix or lessen the impact of style-related issues I wouldn't have if Tumblr hadn't fucked up html and images rendering with the new text post and dashview mode. This to make sure the final post doesn't look a Picasso painting made of words when viewed on mobile.
Dumb:
Doing this for a masterpost and related single chapter posts of a fic series that possibly nobody ever look at, with the 1st fanfic of the series itself that got like 4 views on AO3.
For those curious, I'm speaking about this and this.
Now I turned some of the elements into jpgs, but before the odd characters like └ and ┘ were spaced by an obscene amount of, well, spaces so to have ┘ aligned to right.
This worked specifically with the width of the dashview on computer but was a disaster on mobile, as all got shrunk and you got the ┘on the next line.
It still has issues on app, but I fixed it for mobile browser (site desktop view).
To make the posts decent on mobile I completely broke how they render on my Tumblr, though.
I still cannot find the reason why, since the introduction of new text post and dashboard, the images under a certain size on my theme get blown up. The post space in my theme is 500, yet a pic of 540 gets blown up (instead of, you know, scaled down). So the post now, when view from my Tumblr on PC-browser, is awfully empty. =_=

February:

- Too many hours spent to fix the Captain Britain/Krakoa css style for AO3.
- Finally posted the OMS Wives Kirk and Spock.
- Scribscrib mode activated for the Captain Britain series in the last days of the month.
March (1st half):
- Still focused on the Captains. Too much production to list.
- Finally fixed all the kinks and shared the first chapter! Yay.

For the sake of anal archiving, I might update this note when/if I turn the old PC on and check the original creation date of the file.

Who remembers the hurdle of doing this! I can just say it was harder than it looks to change a lieutenant's unifom to the one of an captain (different colors of collar and other details).
While it's very hard to find decent pics of young Anjelica Huston to work with, a more recent Anjelica is easier so this wasn't much hard.

Collar from a Spock promo pic, I don't remember where I took the captain insignia. Pin for the arm decoration was taken by a Kirk's prop uniform, pics from Star Trek Prop Authority.

Just for nerds, apparently. In The Wrath of Khan, the braid was black/gold checks. From The Voyage Home, the braid was changed with a patterned ribbon that had been seen on admiral maroon since then. Despite working from a generic pre-Wrath of Khan timesetting, I decided to stick with the latter.
Final touches given back in July 2022 (7th). It was held back because I had the utopic dream of combine it with Spock's in an OMS Wives manip. Since it's akin to impossible with this specific pics I used...

I can't pull up a complete list of the images used because back when I did this piece I didn't keep track of the original pics I used for the pieces I needed to turn Saavik's uniform into Kirk's.
Recent changes include a new version of the admiral cross pin on the sleeve and the patterned braid, both taken from Kirk's original prop uniform sold at Heritage 2010 (pic from Propworx).
