i love palamades sextus because it's like. he's "the greatest necromancer of his generation". he's jealous of an eighteen year old. he's in a codependant relationship with his cousin. he's writing erotic wlw fanfic on the wallpaper of his hallucinated River bubble. he rewrote known necrophysics. he was homewrecked. he finds those little outfits that nurses wear and strong work ethic and high test scores sexy. he's been in love with a woman seven years older than him since he was eight. he gave an ancient saint turbo cancer. he blew himself up. he's dead. he's alive. he's banned from selling erotic wlw fanfic he conceived in his necrophysically impossible River bubble. he's taking care of the dead soul of the earth in the body of a girl who lobotomized herself. he never forgets anything. and he isn't even technically the main character. NO ONE is doing it quite like him.
He isn't even technically the main character AND!! He's the ONLY character to technically appear in EVERY SINGLE novel and short story. (By which I mean. He doesn't have a direct role in As Yet Unsent, but he IS attached to his bones and there IS a point made of Cam carrying them and fighting people to keep them. He's technically there lmao. And every other work he plays a significant role, with even his very brief appearance in HtN being a huge turning point.)
He also dies in every single book. I love him so much.

AAAAAAAAAHHH!!!
This is such an abstract type of comedy I don’t even know how to handle it
The Twilight Zone: Our episode "A Slot Machine Chases You Around Physically" was meant as a cautionary tale about the predatory nature of the gambling industry
The Gambling Industry: We've invented the slot machine that chases you around physically from The Twilight Zone episode "A Slot Machine Chases You Around Physically"
That’s a real episode, for anyone who didn’t know.
FRAAAAAAAAAAAANKLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN
random but here is a recipe for cold peanut noodles that you can make during hot weather because i just ate this and had a fantastic time
2tbsp of peanut butter. a splash of rice vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, maple syrup. some chili flakes, some sesame seeds. a splash of water to thin it out. now you put in your noodles (cooled!!!! boiled and rinsed so they’re cold!!) and then some chopped up cucumber or carrot or avocado or cabbage or any crunchy vegetable. i just used cucumber
you can also put in lime juice or herbs or sriracha or grated garlic/ginger or anything like that; tofu/tempe/meat for more protein etc. noodle wise this can be ramen soba udon whatever, i used soba. enjoy homies
thinking about statues of Grace being built all around Erid years after his passing so he can continue to watch over Eridians as they sleep

something that is normal to want and possible to achieve
I gotta throw in a tag for @bethanydelleman because I hope you can hear this as clearly as I can!
@hillnerd
It is a truth universally acknowledged that a group on an adventure must be in want of a hobbit.
I feel like starfish are one of those animals that are treated as very “normal” by people but absolutely shouldn’t be. Like they’re a wheel of repeating heads connected by a central stomach. They walk around using thousands of tiny sticky hydraulically powered tentacles. They have an eye on the end of each arm. Instead of having a mouth they just have an opening where their entire stomach can be pushed out to engulf prey. And they’re just allowed to exist like this. It’s not illegal or anything.
I mean, in some very interesting Technically Correct ways, they didn't actually die? Now, they're very much no longer alive. But the forces involved are such that they didn't get any of the usual cellular processes of death, they simply went from biology to physics in less time than it takes a signal to travel down your optic nerve.
if you go from biology to physics without dying first you don’t go to heaven the uber driver went over this
Languages tend to peak at their word for butterfly. Never seen 2 that are the same, either. Papillon. Mariposa. Borboleta. Fluture. Vlinder. Schmetterling. Pillangó. Babochka. Farfalla. Sommerfugl. Perhonen. Farasha. Titali. Chōchō. Nabi. Húdié. Buom buom. Great job guys, i really mean it.
Dragonflies are good for this
my favorite fantasy world is tortall
My favorite Philomena Cunk bits are when she's talking to Professor Ronald Hutton, who specializes in folklore and paganism in the British Isles. Mainly because she's trying her damnest to throw him off by asking the stupidest questions she can think of, and he's not even phased because he's a folklore and paganism historian so OF COURSE he's been asked worse questions in earnest.
These are two masters of their art going head to head at the peak of their game.
He has a very soothing way of speaking
He's one of my favorite TV historians and shows up in Farm Series and its related shows a lot to contextualize the festivals and rituals they do on there and explain what they meant to the people who lived in the time period. One of my favorite lectures he gives on is about bonfires and the superstition around the Bloody Flux and how we had no idea what actually caused it until some fairly recent humanitarian crises.
Irving Finkel does well with her, too. He is a treasure as always.
Ronald Hutton has a SHIT TON of lectures FREE on Youtube through Gresham College. And not just about past experiences of religion and folklife, but about Modern Paganism and the religious experiences people seek today.
AND Irving Finkle has a good number of "Curators Corner" videos on Youtube too.
