Puella Past and Puella Present
It hadnât taken her long to take note of the presence of another in this city. Picking up on the familiar feeling of anotherâs magic âsignatureâ, Mami at first wondered if it was a witch. But, no, upon closer inspection of the magic that her soul gem was picking up on, Mami could soon tellâŠÂ There was no mistaking itâŠ
This was the magic of another magical girl.
Perhaps it had been the appearance of that other magical girl to Mitakihara in the days before her coming here that had left Mami so keen to picking up on the presence of others like herself. After all, it had been quite some time since had come into contact with any othersâŠ
It was definitely that other girlâs appearance and attitude that had made Mami decide to immediately set out on the trail for this one like she did, however.Â
Leaving her townhouse early and without any sort of word towards her roommates, Mami would simply follow the guide of her soul gem, its glow slowly picking up in intensity over time, as she got closer and closer to the source of the magic.
It would appear whoever this other magical girl was, she was an early riser herself, because it didnât take very long for Mami to get to her at allâand she was still notably outside.
Eyeing them from a far as they stopped during what appeared to be a jogging session, Mami would make herself known rather casually, if immediately, by walking up to the other Magi with one hand lifted up close to her chest, glowing soul gem in hand, and with her other hand only serving to shield it slightly from the side.Â
She was smiling.
âHello there. I donât mean to be a bother, or to interrupt anything, but⊠Would you mind coming with me to some place private? Just to have a small chat.âÂ
While Tart likely wouldnât of been able to tell immediately, given both her polite manner of talking and calm tone, what Mami was saying to her wasnât a request. It was an order.
@puellapucelleâ
Riz had always taught her to never stop training. Even when they were in the midst of a war, Jeanne always tried to take time out of her day to at least get some stretches in. Here, however, was the perfect location to jog. She could get the lay of the land along with being able to keep her cardio up. When youâre battling against things like giant crabs and other Witches of indescribable forms? Never skimp on the stamina-building routines.Â
This was especially true for Jeanne. Back home, most may have deemed her invincible with the damage she could endure. Yet if she got tired, she got weaker as a result even without magic use. So it was always vital to get this exercise in...Â
So when she stopped to find the water bottle out of bag, she spotted the other in her peripheral and paused. Under normal circumstances, she would be greeted with a smile and curtsy. However, Jeanneâs eyes immediately caught the glow of what could only be a Soul Gem. Another Magical Girl.
...Or, Jeanne thought, a Witch. At the very least, a Magical Girl that helped Witches. Something the girl knew all too well.Â
It took her a moment, but her gaze flicked up to the otherâs face as she returned the smile. Maybe it was nothing, but Jeanne couldnât help but feel anxious about the other. The gnawing in her chest told her to fight right here and now, though there were too many passerby to risk. Especially without knowing her own combat prowess here.Â
âOf course, mademoiselle. Lead the way.âÂ
She took a sip from the water bottle after pulling it out at last, though didnât put it back into her bag quite yet. Anything could help when youâre not sure what is coming next.
