Of the black, Blake says, “It makes someone stand out in front and look for the original details. It’s a fun game.”

The master bedroom’s focal point is a wall of lath—thin wood strips found behind the walls in old houses. To create this striking texture, Blake painstakingly cut and laid the wood, a project only for the most dedicated DIYers.
