Nathan Wesninski was the Butcher for the mainline of the Moriyama family and as his son Neil was raised to one day take his place as the Butcher for the branch side of the family.
That was the plan until Neil went missing with his mother and a gap was created.
With no other heirs available and knowing the punishment he’d be in for if he came up empty, Nathan chose someone to replace Neil.
Someone who would be able to protect their little Lord on the branch side. Who knew that boy as well as he knew himself and could be with him at all times and carry out his wishes.
Who better for the task than the boys number 2?
Tetsuji was surprisingly amicable to this though he never adopted Kevin. After all the Moriyama’s had no equals and Kevin Day as important as he was to them wasn’t an exception.
Of course the real decision was up to Kengo who allowed it only if Kevin could prove himself worthy of protecting a Moriyama.
Kevin felt like he was living in a nightmare. First one of his best friends had gone missing and then he was being grabbed from his bed and dragged kicking and screaming into some creepy arse basement.
Nathan starred down at the boy before telling him in no uncertain terms that he was going to become a killer. Kevin would have laughed if a knife hadn’t been placed in his hand a second after and a screaming man pushed at his feet.
The training…if you could call it that was relentless.
Kevin lost track of days somehow worse than usual. If he wasn’t on Court (which he still had to maintain his performance at) he was being beaten by Nathan for another one of his failures. Kevin could still clearly recall the sight of his mother being taken away from him and refused to take a life.
But the Butcher was nothing if not ruthless and that combined with The Masters wrath and the desire to keep the only family he had left safe, Kevin’s resolve broke soon enough.
The knife began to fit in his hand just as well as an Exy racquet did. Tactics were not only about the game itself but also the exists, the entrances and any sudden moves. The beatings began to lessen along with the light in Kevin’s eyes.
He was always covered in red be it his Exy uniform or the victim lying helpless at his feet. The first life Kevin ever took was of a man that had he not been faster would’ve killed Riko. The devotion, the love and the anger shook Kevin to the core and he tore that man apart until there was nothing left of him anymore.
Kengo was satisfied and the Branch family’s Butcher was born.
Riko would revel it. Insult him for how barbaric Kevin had become. Ask to hear every little detail. Tell anyone who dared cross him that he’d send his little raven their way. Mock Kevin because how is it I can crush you so easily but you’re expected to protect me, hm? Delight in the bloodshed and remind Kevin that above all else he lived to serve his King.
Kevin Day smiled for the cameras and then sliced a man’s neck backstage. Kevin Day won the championships and spent his night surrounded by corpses of his own making.
Kevin Day would always be the second best Exy player yet somehow went from a shoddy replacement to the Moriyama’s deadliest investment.
Kevin meets Cody, Ananya and Pat, who are FINALLY togheter
Gets utterly confused because Ananya and Pat are both shamelessly flirting with Cody and with each other....but they were both a couple before and apparently now Cody is part of It too?? how is this possible?? Can they both want each other and still want Cody too?? Can a relationship between three people be a thing?? Does this means there is nothing wrong with Kevin??? Does this means it is okay for him to want them both???? That is a thing???
Then a memory hits Kevin square in the chest. Some days prior he was with Jean, Jeremy, Cat and Laila hanging out, when Cat, who can't shut up to save her life, groaned and said that watching Kevin interact with Jeremy and Jean felt like watching Cody all over again. For some reason, that Kevin didn't get at the time, Jeremy rushed to make Cat shut up....but neither he nor Jean disagreed. In fact Kevin distinctly remembers Jean snorting and saying something along the lines of "not even Cody was this oblivious"
Kevin had just shrugged It off, because, honestly, Jeremy had his legs on Kevin's lap, Jean had his arms draped over his shoulders and Kevin was using all his brain power to remember how to breath properly....but...Could It be??
Could It be that Kevin didnt imagine Jean and Jeremy flirting with him??? That he didnt imagine those lingering looks?? That he wasnt overanalyzing their lingering touches?? Were they really???? Could they???? No...why would they???
Today Jeremy will upload a tiktok with the caption: "In your early 20s you will get a call from a friend asking if you're willing to take a Raven defensemen for your Exy team. It is very important that you say yes" and the next picture is Jerejean wedding
Andrew posting a reply that just says "Instructions unclear, results may vary" and it is a slideshow of Kevin drunk and asleep in increasingly insane places / poses.

I would also love for it to be ready to be read, unfortunately it will probably be a good while before it is because:
1 It will have to be a long(ish) multi-chapter thing, which I am not used to doing
2 I have very little free time atm :(
3 As you can tell by the time it took me to reply, speed writing is not my forté
HOWEVER, here is part of a scene that I have managed to write, I hope you like it!
Finally, finally, he was able to give a quiet knock at the door. He could feel Kevin glance through the peephole before throwing it open and yanking Jean inside, slamming it after him.
"What took you so long?" He had barely gotten the words out before he was taking Jean's face in his hands and kissing him long and deep. Despite this, it didn't erase his frown, and he fixed it back on Jean as soon as they got a breath between them.
"Well?" He demanded. Jean glowered back at him, harried from his trip over and Kevin's dizzying welcome.
"My partner was in no hurry to leave our room tonight. I think him and his…usual plans had an argument, I don't know." Though Zane and Colleen were unlikely to hook up when out of the nest, Zane was always more withdrawn and socialised less after a fight with her. Just Jean's luck that they would choose now of all times to be on the outs.
Kevin brushed this excuse off, dragging Jean further into the room. Behind him, on one of the beds, Jeremy leaned sideways to get a look at him.
"Hey Jean."
For the second time in a minute Jean's heart almost stopped. Jeremy's voice was all smooth warmth, his face restrained excitement. Those ridiculous big brown eyes made Jean melt on the spot, especially with them looking at him like that whilst sprawled out on a hotel bed.
Jean's throat worked for a second as he tried to get his brain to re-attach itself to his mouth.
"See, at least one of you has manners." He aimed at Kevin, though no real heat got through. It never could, not with Kevin.
He walked around Kevin and up to Jeremy, Kevin muttering something about "manners" under his breath. They both ignored him.
"Hello Jeremy."
Jeremy's face bloomed into a dimpled grin, so warm and radiant Jean couldn't fathom what he had done to deserve to be the recipient.
Then Jeremy was pulling him down for his own kiss, more gentle, but with no less feeling than Kevin's.
