But it's a really great place to work with high salaries, excellent benefits, and a flexible working schedule with plenty of paid leave. They just like the dystopian aesthetic.

One of my favorite things about Pride and Prejudice is the Bennet family’s complete cluelessness about Darcy and Elizabeth. Like, if this were a tv show about the Bennets, Darcy and Elizabeth are like, the D storyline. The whole family is trying to get Jane and Bingley together, the regiment is stationed in Meryton, Mr. Collins is taking the house, Lydia and Wickham are obviously the climax, these people have a lot going on. And then, once the regiment has left and Jane and Lydia and Mr. Collins are married and everything seems resolved: plot twist! They’ve got random nobility at the door in the middle of the night telling the know-it-all sister who has been home on and off through the year not to marry the rando rich guy they all hate simply because they’re family and loyal to each other damnit and he called the know-it-all sister ugly once. 

And then, of course, they all find out Lizzy and Darcy are actually very in love and literally all of the good things that have happened to them this year are a direct consequence of Darcy loving Lizzy lolol.

I need a Star Trek retelling of Pride & Prejudice but with a vulcan Mr Darcy and human Lizzy and the pride and prejudice comes from their cross-cultural misunderstandings and lowkey xenophobia.

* Human sees vulcan as being misanthropic and arrogant because he is reserved and doesn't care for people's emotions.

* Meanwhile vulcan admires human for being witty and finds fascination in their insights on life and human behavior.

* Human dislikes vulcan and makes a point to out-logic them in an attempt to be sassy, but it only makes the vulcan admire them even more.

* Vulcan asks human to become their mate despite the fact that they are human and that their family would consider it abhorrent. This upsets and surprises human, who thought vulcan hated them, and gets offended by the implication that they would be "settling" by marrying a human

* Vulcan doesn't understand why human is so upset, so human lashes out and tell them how arrogant and uncaring they think they are. Vulcan is just like "Thank you for your insight, I better understand why you took offense to my proposal" and just walks away.

*They see each other again a few times and human notices vulcan to be way more agreeable and pleasant than before, is flattered that they are trying to better themself for them, and starts to develop feelings

* Vulcan aunt comes over and is being really xenophobic and tells human she would never allow them to have a human dilude their vulcan bloodline or whatever xenophobic thing vulcans say. Meanwhile human is like "Ok idc later hater"

*Obviously this makes vulcan admire them even more.
