Love arranged is the third and final book in the Lakefront billionaires series by Lauren Asher.

For me, it was a lighthearted, wholesome, domestic read, similar to love unwritten, and i loved every single second of it.

MMC : Lorenzo vittori — our man is suffering from ocd, and obsesses over food, safety, and a certain woman he can’t stop wanting. Everyone is convinced that he’s in the mafia, hell bent on destroying them, meanwhile man is just plotting his revenge and falling in love and having to adjust his plans. A baby. 🥺

FMC : lily/ liliana muñoz — lily is the cheerful, bright, optimistic girl, the people’s princess who is absolutely genius when it comes to her family and Lorenzo. She is loving and caring like Ellie, i was reminded of them, and the little crumbs from Ellie and rafa’s book ? Chefs kiss sweet! 🌸Their story is a soft fake dating romance, set in a small town, which turns into so much than what was originally planned.

side characters : Ellie, rafael, julian, dahlia, everyone is soo sweet, and manny how can we forget him? Man repaired lily’s car while giving Lorenzo the side eye 👀 something was definitely brewing, manny was right. Little daisy is the cutest dog ever! I loved everytime she was mentioned.

Story setting : small town called lake wisteria.

Summary : <spoiler>Lorenzo is preparing for his political election, running for a mayor, in a small town Lake wisteria, while on the other hand, lily needs someone to help her save her shop, so she can continue keeping her father’s memories alive and also because she loves her flower shop. Who better to ask than the enemy of her enemy — Lorenzo vittori to fake date her and make his position stronger since she is the people’s princess. And in the process they fall for each other, and Lorenzo’s plans to run for the mayor are because of his parent’s death by a certain someone, but he ends up doing more because he loves lily more than anything.</spoiler>

He double - checks everything and make sure it is alright. Safety? Check. Food? Check. Stalking lily? Check. This man does everything to make up for the hurt he caused her by pushing her away because he thought obsessing over her is not what she wants, turns out she wanted to be loved and chosen by him, without him pushing him away.

🌸 Goes to therapy so he can be vulnerable and not let his past keep him from the present.

🩷 Buys lily all her dresses in neutral pink, and matching shoes.

🩷 Buys her the most beautiful diamond pink ring for their engagement.

🩷 Is not a billionaire but has enough money from selling his assets, and spends most of it on lily, like he should.

A door parallel to the teacher’s desk I’m sitting at dreams open, and Lily walks inside the classroom, looking like the future mayor’s wife in the periwinkle dress she bought with my credit card. I never thought i’d enjoy buying something more than cars, but seeing Lily decked out in the clothes and jewelry I have bought has me changing my mind. There is something incredibly satisfying about being able to provide for her, and screw julian for insinuating that I couldn’t.

because Lily muñoz is mine, and I’ll stop at nothing until i become hers.

Last details : i always wondered what the fountain on the cover meant, and i understand it now, it was lily’s beloved fountain made by her father in their garden.

Kiss the villian is a dark MM first book in the villian series by rina kent.

Update after ruminating over this book : I don’t mind rape now in rina’s books, and I also wanna say that I read some reviews of this book, I got influenced by some of them, and am really sorry for that. My honest thoughts? Regardless of the rape or not, I have a love - hate relationship with kayden.

side characters : i liked simone, or Nadine. I also liked the mom jina and Rachel, along with reina (gareth and killian’s mom).

Story setting : dark college.

Summary : <spoiler>Kayden lockwood is seeking revenge for what happened to his wife two years ago, and for that he needs to have gareth wrapped around his finger, but time passes, they spend time together, and Kayden realizes that this is more than revenge, and he is falling for what he was supposed to avenge. There is a eleven years age gap between them. He’s 22, and Kayden is 33. Age is not a problem. I have so much to say about these two.</spoiler>

Onto the characters : ↪<spoiler>Kayden <s>lockwood</s> davenport is a professor, and he is just such a contrasting character. I don’t love these characters, lemme put that out there. So, Kayden assaults gareth when they first meet, and to justify it or what, i don’t know but gareth <i>hates</i> everything. If you read the next chapter from his pov, he definitely did not like it. But there’s a blurring line, because he says he liked it. And now i’m just like eh eh eeeeeehhhhh. Later, Kayden and gareth are in like a situationship? He forces gareth in sexual situations, but gareth is okay with it because he is slowly awakening to the fact that he is gay, and he likes to be forced. Kayden makes him feel is real and blah fucking blah.

Kayden’s revenge was about approaching gareth, his wife’s rapist’s grandson, but what does he do? To avenge her, he assaults gareth? And then justifies it by saying that rape is not about force, control, or power. Which i 1000% disagree with, most of the time it <i>fucking is</i> about power and control. And rapist’s superiority complex. And Kayden says that it is about the victim’s feelings and the long term impact. That is the aftermath. The damage is already done. Mr Kayden also does not apologise to gareth, but gareth does apologize later in the book when they are together.

I did not dislike the book, nor i do want to spread hate, but this is kinda contrasting for Kayden. Isn’t he what his wife already went through? What revenge? And, yes they were arranged marriage, and <i>friends</i>, but nobody should go through what Cassandra went through, so we will not discuss whether the marriage mattered or not. Kayden should have protected her whether it was real or not. What kind of husband not protect his wife? Someone with the same mindset as those sick fucks. Kayden did get his revenge in a way, but assaulting Gareth in the initial chapter? Naah. I am so hypocrite because I forgot what Killian did, the cliff scene if we all know it, but for some reason here, I don’t like kayden.

However, Kayden has his soft, sweetheart -y moments, if you would want to call it that.

🤌🏼 He stocks his fridge with strawberries, knowing that gareth loves them.He takes a bullet for gareth.

🤌🏼He protects gareth from vencor, and his brother grant, who he knows can and will hurt gareth.

🤌🏼 He adopts a stray, though gareth protests, but names her moka, which is given by gareth himself. (Rina’s love for cats is showing).

🤌🏼 Moka is a sweet honeybun who clings to gareth, even though all he does scowl, and frown initially but warms up to her eventually.

🤌🏼 Kayden stares at gareth a lot. (He really finds gareth beautiful).

🤌🏼 Kayden also calls him “baby” multiple times in the book. (Questioning how many times I heard that, niko my love I am running back to you, you were so much better than kay was).

🤌🏼 Kayden risks his life just to see gareth once while he is admitted in the hospital knowing he is gonna die.

🤌🏼 Kayden protests gareth from his impulsive tendencies to kill and be violent.

🤌🏼 Kayden asks gareth to hurt him physically for the fuck ups he did. (Like he absolutely should).</spoiler>⇾conclusion, Kayden has his moments. You decide whether you want to read the book or not. What i loved : i loved moka, and the ending where Kayden fights everyone and leaves vencor, like he should. And loves gareth in his own way. (A little). I still don’t like him much. If I was moka, i would shoving my claws at him.

Psychotic obsession is a dark interconnected standalone in the edge of the darkness trilogy. This book tested my sanity and never gave it back. But now that i have had time to think, it’s a five.

Writing style : Leigh Rivers is a really good writer, she writes angst and twists very well. It’s immersive and flows smoothly once you begin reading.

MMC : Tobias Mitchell — ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

FMC : aria miller — ⭐⭐

side characters : nobody stood out to me unfortunately.

Summary : <spoiler>aria is a scientist working to find cure to rare genetic diseases. Tobias is working with her as her assistant, at first he work with her only because he is slightly obsessed with her, but as time passes, he becomes really obsessed with her. He does some questionable things — because of his psychosis — threatens anyone and everyone who comes close to hurting her or hurt her in the past, threatens ewan too, her ex, and kills her best friend in a fit of rage. They both have a very complicated and toxic relationship. Aria confused me as to where to place her, one moment she wants ewan and the next moment she says she loves Tobias. Tobias drugs her with his own medication, gets her pregnant and also threatens to kill her because he thinks his aria is lost and everyone is trying to take her away from him.

Aria is the only one who saw him as a person, and not tried to make him feel like there is something wrong with him. Ewan her ex stays with aria, and chooses to be with her throughout the pregnancy, but he refuses to be in a relationship with aria if she chooses Tobias, i mean he cheated on her and justifies it by saying he was young, wtf was that? The characters in this book are a cluster fuck, and i am too, because i love Tobias. Man was trying so hard to be better for aria, and their babies. This woman is pregnant and still wants to sleep with the ex that cheated on her and wants a relationship with her and not want her running which made me think double standards. He can do whatever he wants, but he will not accept the same? Okay, whatever.

Tobias is sent to a mental institution after he is charged with assault, murder attempts, and his mental issues are a bonus, there he spends five years, I guess and we meet a different man than in the middle of the book. He is unhinged, obsessed and really psychopathic, what did he even—? He wants aria to be his to the point he forces a pregnancy on her. Damn, this man. Will i defend him? Yes. Will i run from him? Yes. Do i love him? Also yes. Aria raised ewan’ s son jason as her own, and so ewan chooses to be with aria to take care of her twins too. Tobias is irredeemable, but to me, he is. Think what you think. Aria did not deserve the shit she went through because fucking hell, it was too much. I deliberately read this book first to understand the edge of the darkness trilogy later, because if I had to come back and read about the father’s story like this, I think i would cry a river. They don’t have a happy ending, but my man deserved it. He fought against his demons, and i did not know whether to love him, or run the fuck away.</spoiler>

Dedicated to by the author : the author said readers who love dancing in the dark, come out now Tobias is our home. But this man took my sanity and hasn’t given it back. I feel so overwhelmed and I don’t know what even to write here.

That sik luv is a standalone dark romance by jescie hall. This book took my sanity and gave it back only at the end. I had been wanting to read this book since it was hyped so much in the book community and it was a wild ride is all i can say right now.

Story setting : Christianity? Religion? <spoiler>It is based on how a religion is used to commit the heinous of crimes by those who are not supposed to.</spoiler> Shit that was a spoiler, gotta blur it.

Summary : <spoiler>briony is climbing up the ranks in the Church, and the men of the town, and higher ups can’t and won’t tolerate it so they want her out. They hire aero, our hero to kill her but he gets obsessed with her and instead teaches her how to not let them control her world and herself, they both end up taking revenge on everyone who hurt aero and bri, thus having their happy ever after. Aero’s mother and bri’s mother were murdered by the same people who look like sheep, and are not supposed to be doing it. The revenge is for all the suffering aero went through when he was a kid, and raped by a bishop, and grooming briony into a woman they want her to be by using their religion.</spoiler> Fuck, i already revealed pretty much everything. Sorry.

What i loved : i loved the story, even though it was confusing, and annoying me to keep reading. But i did, and found out that i in fact love aero. He very much gave me beast vibes, someone reserved, tortured, and couldn’t stand gentle touch since it was traumatising for him. I like briony’s character development, going from the soft girl, who everyone used to taking power in her own hands and awakening herself to things she always wanted, even though aero did help in that.

Favourite parts/ highlights : She’s my goddess. My light. My life. And after every training session, I make an effort to prove that to her. Touching her is easy. It’s been a dream of mine for years. Mending her wounds, cleaning every part of my doll I’ve dirtied; my favorite part. I could make a career out of tending to her needs, strengthening her. The part I continue to struggle with is allowing her touch to heal me. A word I’d craved so badly as a lost little boy that is now forever tarnished. Engraved into my being as dirty, nasty...wrong.

The thrill of knowing no child would be violated so violently filled my heart as I watched Aero cut it off, the screams of torture echoing throughout my body before being muffled out by his own shriveled, bloodied dick.

The thought of him fucking my limp and sedated body as I’d demanded has my insides convulsing with a need all their own. I gave myself to him as his own personal fuck doll to be used as he desired.

Aero doesn’t mind sharing, because he did it for revenge and briefly for his own enjoyment, both are possessive but in a different way. Zade is more innocent in his possession for me at least than aero is. I liked this book, and thought that i should dnf it, but then i kept reading and it pulled me back right in. Aero grew on me, at first, i disliked him, but then his pretty tendencies of not believing in love, pushing away gentle touch grew on me, i love this man, yeah whatever. I can’t hate him. His dark, and making you run for the hills tendencies intrigued me. Love him. I’d recommend reading little stranger by Leigh Rivers, if you enjoyed this one and haven’t read it already. It’s a forbidden, step- sibling dark, contemporary romance, with a lot of trigger warnings, please read them before you begin reading the book.

MMC : Nikolai sokolov and Brandon king. I love them both so much. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Both deserve six stars. But even more so for niko, my golden retriever baby.

side characters : they are all so lovely, and i enjoyed their shenanigans in the midst of the story.

Story setting : college.

Summary : <spoiler>brandon is constantly chased, and pursued by Nikolai, though brandon doesn’t give in to him, because he believes himself to be straight, or so he tells himself — Nikolai makes him realize that he is gay like him. Nikolai is relentless in his pursuit until brandon agrees to be his, but in secret. Brandon is suffering through something, but it is a secret he hasn’t shared with anyone. Which leads to self harm, and pretending he’s okay. Nikolai also has his episodes of violence and rage, which are tamed by Brandon’s presence. They both start a situationship, and then one day Nikolai finds out about the self harm bran inflicts on himself, and finds out that it’s because of grace, a woman in the art industry, and also the one who signed Astrid, bran’s mother, he understands exactly what happened to brandon, and is filled with fury so red, he can’t see anything else. But it is too late because Brandon stabs himself with the mirror piece in niko’s hand and ends up in a hospital. Landon, who does not have a liking to niko, wants to be in on whatever destruction niko plans on wrecking on grace, they take care of it along with Kyle. And then Brandon seeks therapy, comes out to his parents and family, and realizes that his brother, sister, and his parents love him, always have. Regardless of grace incident. Brandon is accepted, and loved fiercely, even by the brother he felt distant most of his life with. They have their happy ever after, when bran proposes first, since niko was the one who pursued him, niko is just a baby, and we all love him, the story ends. (Also, we do get a hint on Gareth Carson and Kayden lockwood).</spoiler>

What i loved : I loved Nikolai. Fuck, he’s all mafia boy, aggressive, arrogant, and annoying in all the other books, but in his book? Just a baby who is devastatingly flirtatious, annoyingly cute, and deceptively caring. I really thought i won’t have fun reading his book, considering this is the last book i’m reading in this series, but boy did he steal my heart in the first pov and the first line we get. His ways of pursuing brandon.

These two felt more like Tom and Jerry. Honestly grumpy bran is my fav, but have you seen niko? The big, bad man with tattoos, and scary looking face is actually just a golden retriever with a teddy bear personality underneath all that violence and rage. The mafia prince got a prince charming of his own. Wow. 🌸

Thoughts I had while reading : Ashtyn teasing the shit out of Saint knowing he can’t touch her until the vow ceremony is top tier.

Of fuckinggg course, Saint will do anything to keep ash safe, even if he has to brand her, or keep her tied up, and never to see light again.

Anyway onto the review. This rollercoaster of a book, phew. Carnage is the fifth book in the lords series by shantel tessier. It is not a standalone, previous books should be read before reading this one in order to understand their world and to avoid spoilers. Carnage was a heavy book for me.

It made me feel things, just like the second book — the sinner. Sin, and Ellie going through so much tougher and individually, I really can’t stop myself but want them to have a life together.

Saint got tattooed and pierced after their fathers died, and they had carnage to run by themselves. The cluster fuck of shit that happens before that though. 🤯Story setting : secret society.

Summary : <spoiler>i can’t summarise this well, but I will try. The spade brothers’s world is different than the lords. More cruel, dark, and definitely disturbing. Saint goes through three initiations to prove his loyalty, devotion and commitment to the lords. If you read the previous books, you know the drill. Initiation, tests, assignments, and then you’re a lord. And a chosen is given to them to do with whatever they please. Fine, my mind won’t shut up, so barrington University is a home to a secret doctor run by the lords. The lords are the most powerful men who have power and control basically everything. To become a lord, a man has to go through initiations, prove his loyalty to the lords, throughout the three years they spent in the University. They are absolutely refrain from sex, or they’ll be removed, until their senior year, they get a chosen, a woman, or a lady — as they call it, and do with whatever they please. If a lord decides to share her, they can. However, if a lord pisses the other high lords, then he can be removed just as easily. In the spade brothers’s world, only a spade brothers’s child can continue their legacy. Saint, kashton, and haidyn are all spade brothers, not born from blood, but they have always been together.

They share everything, including their chosen. Saint goes through three initiations before he becomes a lord. And gets branded with the 666 carnage brand. Carnage is a place of the secret society where a lord who was done wrong is punished ruthlessly, and carnage is run by their fathers, before saint, kashton, and haidyn take over. Adam, ashtyn’s brother fucks something up with the lords and goes missing, along with her father. Ashtyn’s mother is killed by tyson, another lord. (Tyson’s book is the third — the sacrifice). So, ash is dead to the world, and therefore, saint decides to keep her locked in carnage, since the fathers want her dead, and saint loves her, so he agrees, and initiates her into carnage. Being branded with the 666 carnage symbol. Ashtyn wanted to be with saint, but as she watches him, and what carnage is, she realises that she does not want to stay there and flees away for four years. Four years, she suffers, and then saint gets her back to carnage, a changed man, because carnage may have been a bad place under their father’s rules, but it gets worse when they run it. The trio — saint, kash, and haidyn — they are changed men, saint no longer wants to love her, but loves her, and hates her for running because things get messed up, they are all trained after she leaves, and messy things happen to them. Ashtyn is seeing a therapist — ellie’s mother — laura. (Ellie, the FMC in the sinner, the second book on this series). She’s fucked up, and she also severely traumatises ash. Ash gets punished everyday of her life because saint refuses to see past his revenge and the anger he feels when ash runs away. Ash is kidnapped again by James, her former boyfriend, who she lived with when she ran away from saint. She also loses her baby, which wasn’t saint’s. She does not tell him, and also keep the secret that haidyn helped her run away. Things take a messy turn when saint figures out that she was taken by ace, and Adam, who was ash’s brother wanted to help, but he couldn’t, so all he could do is bring back haidyn to life, well, he was just pretending to be dead. Not actually dead. It was a bait so they kidnappers would let ash go. It ends in a bloodbath. Saint gets ash back, and if you have read the second and the third books in the series, you’ll know what happens. Laura is taken to carnage, (like she should, the bitch was flapping her wings too much) and Nicholas is freed, because sin exchanged his life to her nico (ellie’s father) back, if nico was freed, maybe Ellie wouldn’t have suffered so much at the hands of her mother laura. Nicholas also helped saint during his initiations. Carnage is a place of blood, murder, death, and reeks of torture and more fucked up shit. Ash should have told saint about the kid, but doesn’t. Probably because she thought the child would suffer, because carnage is no place for a child, as per saint’s words. Carnage becomes a place for all the people who piss the lords off. Whitney (ellie’s sister, luke, ace (James) are all thrown and suffer. But laura being the motherfucker she is, shows up pregnant, and Ellie and sin decide to keep the child and raise it as their own. (Yikes, having to raise your own brother as your child, because parents were stupid enough to make a mistake like that). They have an hea, but fuck, it’s earned. I wonder how haidyn and Charlotte’s story goes. Really curious about him.</spoiler>

Pacing : slow to fast. It starts slow, and then the plot starts making sense.

I loved the story, and am currently feeling the after effects of it. I feel like I got stuck in a storm. Uh, this book was heavy. But i loved saint, and kashton, and haidyn, want to see more of them. I also loved the ways in which saint protested and fought for his loved ones, everyone. The side characters stood out for me.

Favourite parts/ highlights : saint’s protection, obsession, and love for ashtyn. I don’t know how i feel about ash, she went through things she shouldn’t have, but then ahain, some things are not in our control, is it? Saint’s killing spree, yeah, i loved that. Man will go to any extremes to have ash, and free her of the men who tormented his wife. Saint “my wife” carter, you won my heart. You are twisted. Yes. Do i care? Fucking no. Still love you. I don’t get why ashtyn is hated.

Writing style : ana huang’s writing is eloquent, easy to read, and flows smoothly. I appreciate her writing, and am used to it, her books feel like a warm hug, I love her writing.

FMC : Vivian Lau — ⭐⭐⭐⭐

side characters : kai and Isabella stand out, man has the best timing, he knew what he was doing by overhearing isabella’s much interesting ramblings. I’m gonna read their story after my break.

Story setting : billionaires? (Well, it’s a billionaire romance).

Summary : Dante is forced to marry his enemy’s daughter, because of her father’s blackmail, and also because he desperately wants to protect his brother from dying, they have rocky relationship at first, as they spend more time together, they realise, there is more to each other, and start melting the cold exterior just a bit, and then as they get close, the truth comes out, leaving their relationship in a mess, which they work on, because they both are adults who grow, and the character development is good too.

Dante being the cold CEO, who takes shit from no one, but falls on his knees for his woman. Man was engaged to Vivian, but everytime someone hurt her, the only thing came out of his mouth was “my wife” when they weren’t even married yet, I love this man, ana, i see what you did there, and love it.

I read the fourth book before the others, which was spoiled, because it had all the spoilers, so it is recommended that you read the books in order.Ana huang is a new to me author, i’ve read twisted lies, king of greed and twisted love is my next book of hers which i finished today. I loved this lighthearted romance book with a plot.

Alex and ava spend time together which brings them closer, and she falls for him, only to be betrayed by him, and then he grovels, asks for her forgiveness, makes up for his mess and we have a happily ever after. I had read so much about this book through the Internet, that when Alex first called her sunshine hit me so good, I swooned, because I knew what he gave her that nickname. Ava really was his light in the darkness. Alex may have been blinded by revenge, and thought that he’d destroy beautiful things, but he was not a destroyer, he was beautiful, reserved, and calculated, and oh richhh as fuck. Man drives a black aston Martin, and has a house that could make everyone run so fast. Even after resigning from his CEO position, he still had enough money, enough to grovel, and ask for ava’s forgiveness. I love Alex volkov.

Ava was a sweetheart, talkative, literal sunshine, bubby, i loved her, she was brave, facing her fears, moving forward in life, wanting to break alex’s cold heart and making him see that beautiful things existed and he did not destroyed them always like he believed. Jules was a good friend, and so were stella and bridget.

Favourite parts/ highlights : - You want to fuck, we fuck. You want to date, we date. You want to call me your boyfriend, I’ll call you my girlfriend. But for now, let me take care of that needy little pussy of yours, hmm?”

- Periods sucked, but they were a useful weapon for shutting down questions from men.

Final thoughts : Alex and ava have my heart. The blue cover of the discreet version symbolizes alex’s heart, cold, ice like, and ava being the one who melts him, his light in this dark, cold world. I loved another Ana Huang book, and i can’t wait to read more of her books. She’s quickly becoming one of my favourite authors.

loving the liar is the first book in the silver falls university series, it is an interconnected standalone. Lola king always writes the best dark romance books, and Chris’s story was the one I was most curious about after i finished the disaster of rose’s story. I love Lola’s writing, and this book pulled me and here we are. You may want to read the books in the order.

So, i wasn’t planning on reading this series at all, but then lola’s writing pulled me in, and reading one chapter became four to five chapters, and after that i couldn’t stop.Trigger warnings & spoilers : I will spoil some shit for you, sorry.

- Who knew you needed so much knowledge to become a whore for rich men.

-My hand twitches to touch her again. I can’t breathe when she’s unwell. It eats me from the inside, crawls up my neck. I worry.

- Watching Ella squirm every time I walk a little too close to her table is a thrill that makes me giddy. If I’m close enough to smell her perfume of vanilla and lavender, then I’m close enough to make her feel how much I want her.She knows what I smell like too. I could sigh lovingly remembering that. He didn’t smell like you.

- “Looks like we’re stuck, Mr. Murray, the wolf.” I wiggle my eyebrows. “Ah-ooooh.” (ella, baby you so funny when you’re drunk 😂)

-Ella is a gorgeous ballerina. Breathtaking. She’s as good as a professional in many types of dances, but in ballet? She’s flawless. She used to attend Ms. Barry Dance School in Stoneview. It’s practically impossible to get in, but she did. Because she’s perfect and deserved it. I watched every single one of her performances. Sometimes with Luke because he would invite me. Sometimes from the back so it wouldn’t look strange to her brother that I showed up at every show. (The way he sees ella 🫠🤏🏼🤌🏼) Ugh, such a pookie.

- She’s mastered how to look perfect to the outside eye and forgot that everything that makes her so perfect is the little things she never thinks of. The ones she does subconsciously. People don’t notice them; they’re too taken by the general appearance and confidence of the popular girl. But I notice. I’ve always noticed.

- The way her pale eyes blink repeatedly when she’s processing something. When I manage to get her out of her own head, she giggles so beautifully and carelessly. And when someone says something she dislikes but she doesn’t want to contradict them, she scrunches nose in the cutest way imaginable.

- And I only care about who she really is. Mine. Because the main thing Ella has always done subconsciously is love me. It came naturally, even when she shouldn’t have, and even when she doesn’t want to. It’s always there, and I know it because I feel it. Even when she promises she hates me.

- I’ve lost count of how many times in my life I explicitly told her she wasn’t dumb. But when something is instilled in you, you know no other way. (Some fuckers need to be in jail 👺)

- “I already have all the control I need, Sweets. You’re the only one who believes I ever lost it. You’re the only one who doesn’t want to accept I own every single molecule in your body. You can tell me to leave you alone all you want; you know I won’t. And I know you’ll let me get closer if I push. That’s the kind of toxic we are. That’s how we fit together.”- “Because that’s how your dad talked to you. All violence and insults. I hate it. That’s not an appropriate way to communicate with someone you love. I don’t want you to bring it into our relationship, our marriage, our family.”

- We walk up to the main area, and the first thing he does is go to the vending machine there. He pulls out his card and taps the card-reader on there, then presses a number, and a protein bar falls. Then another. Another…“Chris?” “You love these,” he says casually. He remembers everything.“I do, but…” I tilt my head to the side, watching him repeat the process over and over again, until he ends up with fifteen of them in his arms and walks back to me with a grin on his face. “Seriously, what are you doing?” “So you can bring them to the kids you teach on Saturdays. Is fifteen enough?”I blink up at him, my heart swelling. “Uh…yeah. Yeah, it’s enough.”

- As humans, we find such comfort in our toxic habits. It’s not just the obvious ones like smoking cigarettes or cutting. It’s the more subconscious ones. Loving someone who doesn’t deserve us. Putting our happiness on the line to please others. Letting our dark thoughts take over because they feel familiar.

Chris also counts the days he wasn’t with ella and makes the necklace out of the pearls he collects. He’s manipulative, but he can be sweet. Oh, and his nickname for her is sweets. And his aftercare is to give her a sweet heart shaped candy, because she needs the sugar, and he also likes to take care of her, because he knows she doesn’t. And the statue is the statue at the founder of the secret society building, or the mentions of greek mythology.

Cruel Secrets by kira cole book review.

Cruel secrets is the second book in the cruel command series by kira cole.

I was interested in it, because Goodreads recommended it, and I liked this book, but i’m a dark romance reader, and i need more darkness or i’ll meet god, but this book was entertaining, kira’s writing felt like a flow, once I kept reading, i couldn’t stop, the mafia elements, the love, the loss, the pain, everything was written perfectly, i couldn’t drop this book, even though it wasn’t my type anymore. I would definitely check the other books in this series, and more.

- “Nobody is going to kill you. They have to get through me if they so much as want to lay a finger on you.”- “You know what I’m capable of, Gia, and I will burn the fucking earth to the ground if it means I can make sure that bastard never gets to you again.”

- “We’re safe.” I kiss her temple. “We just need to get to the car, and then we’re going to get the hell out of here and have you looked over by a doctor.”

“Hell!” Bianca says the word like it’s her new favorite.I wince as Gia shoots me a dirty look. “Oops?”

“After everything that’s happened today, all you have to say is oops?”

“Hell! Hell. Hell!” Bianca claps her hands in time with the words, getting a laugh out of Gia as she shakes her head and walks with me down the stairs.“I can’t believe you taught our sweet little baby to swear.” “At least her first word wasn’t fu⁠—”

- I’m more than happy to snag a cookie off the tray and watch them love on my future wife. She deserves to be adored by everyone in her life and my family are more than happy to do just that.Baby Bianca was a sweetheart, and both royce and gia have my heart. This one was a sweet read.However, i’m not gonna give it five stars, but three, since it was a moderate read for me. Okay, one more star for Bianca only, and the smut. Thankyou.

Killian’s book was talked about so much in the book community that i wanted to know what was so special about him, and now I know. It was all over booktok, one of the reasons why i even bought this book, and miss ma’am rina, i bow to you, this book took me on a hell of ride, which I loved til the end.

Dark romances are all so good, and delicious in a way, but this one was so goooood, i knew I would love Killian, and i had second thoughts too, but we’ll pretend the cliff scene is non existent, thank you. Story : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Summary : <spoiler> glyndon is drowning in guilt for her friend’s death, blames herself for it. And therefore she’s at the cliff where he allegedly pushed himself, and died, she went there to get some air, only to encounter the monster of her life —killian Carson, who tells her “blow me or die” 👺😭 this mannn— The story progresses after that, but we get interactions between niko, Jeremy, crieghton, Annika, and many more. The plot only picks up after the 50% mark, after glyn is falling for Killian, and then finds out that he had a hand in driving her friend to kill himself. She distances herself from him, but Killian does not let her go, obviously because in his head, she’s different, and makes his demons rest. He also finds out that his mother isn’t scared of him, but for the things he could do. They have a sweet family reunion. And then someone beats glyndon, only to find out that it was the said friend who orchestrated all this. The plot was so good, at that point. And, then Killian with his friends of course, beats the shit out of the said friend too.

His girl will not be hurt by anyone. He protects her, and also confesses to her, and the part where glyn realizes that he does love her, is also the part where i think rina may have fallen for Killian too while writing, because each and every word is so beautiful. I will anything rina writes. She’s my favourite writer. Enough of that, and then Killian takes her to the same cliff, and proposes to her, and hea.</spoiler>

Plot : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rating : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (i loved this story too much)Writing style : eloquent and precise. Rina never fails to write the most mature characters perfectly, miss ma’am surely eats perfection when she’s writing. All the books in this series don’t feel like a book, they feel like the story were real.

side characters : levi and Astrid stood out to me, i now understand — even without having read their book— why they have three kids. Maybe it’s time to go read the dad’s book. Pacing : slow to medium to fast. The plot starts making sense after the 50% mark.

What i loved : i loved Killian, I knew i would love him at the beginning of the book, and after i turned more pages, this man — even nonchalance would bow at his feet, he’s so calm in the most terrifying of situations, does not blink, does not get threatened, in fact enjoys the thrill of seeing inside things he finds curious. I loved glyn, she fought him, but also surrendered to him in the right amount of push and pull. I think i may have fallen for the dad, levi. His name is so attractive — sir levi king, i need to go read your book, but my tbr is crying already. 😩😭

Favourite parts/ highlights : the banter between the main characters, lol. It’s so funny and touching.

Killian kisses the top of my head, and before i can backpedal, he says words that go straight to my heart.“I’ll make sure you always choose me as much as I choose you.”

“i’m going to fuck up his life, no only for thinking he could manipulate me but also for daring to put his filthy hands on what’s mine. ” Killian possessiveness is so attractive, ugh 😩🥵🤌🏼

Writing style : precise. I love rina’s books, this is my third book, but i have fell in love with her writing. She writes unapologetic heroes so well, and her FMC’s are equally amazing.

Summary : <spoiler>cecily sneaks into the heathen’s mansion, where an initiation where the club members select new members, but with a task they have to fulfil. She takes crieghton’s invitation and sneaks into jeremy’s territory, considering he’s the leader of the said club. And, also a mafia heir to an empire. The book starts slow with the plot, like any other rina kent book, and we see cecily has a love for comic boosmks, boy’s love to be precise. Jeremy is the opposite, with sociopathic personality, he and cecily make an unspoken deal that he’ll fulfil her sexual desires, ones that she’s too afraid to speak of. She signs up for a sexual club, which landon — her crush is also a member of, only to find that Jeremy accepted her invitation. Cecily is the mother of the group, one who takes care of the others, who people depend on, but Jeremy soon finds out there’s more to her than she lets on, and forces her to tell him, why she gets lost, or more like frozen, everytime something sexual is mentioned, and she tells him reluctantly that drugging and gagging are her limits. When Jeremy catches her at the initiation, she tells him to fuck her first, before he kills her, so after that they start this game of fucking, but without feelings, because they don’t like each other. Cecily battles with her trauma, and sleep paralysis and also with the primal kink she’s into for which she was shamed by her ex - boyfriend jonah.

Jeremy and Landon have beef because Jeremy dislikes him for being cecily’s first crush, and Landon dislikes everyone, because he is landon. Landon asks cecily to spy on heathens, and that was one of the reasons why she is at the initiation at the beginning of the book. Jeremy also threatens cecily if she didn’t give into him, he’s tell everyone what she likes in bed. Jeremy and cecily continue to see each other. And then the story overlaps with the second book, where Annika is kidnapped by cray, and Jeremy finds out about it, but he doesn’t punish her for it. Cecily’s was stripped and drugged by her former boyfriend for which Jeremy makes his mission to send him off the earth, which he does eventually, when he ends up in jail, and the other guy, which jonah was with, ends up trying to potentially assault cecy, but Jeremy arrives on time and saves her. Jeremy later finds out that the fire that caused his mansion to light up in flames was done by landon, and cecily had helped him with the necessary info, combined with her love for landon makes Jeremy push her away, even after cecily confesses her feelings for him, he refuses to believe her, and then finds the truth at the hospital after the Zayn encounter, and that’s when cecily tells him everything. She did not want to put Jeremy or his family’s lives at risk, when the mansion was set on fire. Adrian comes to Jeremy’s rescue and they have a good talk about how letting people in does not always mean a threat.

Adrian being the best dad ever, he asks Jeremy to not give up on cecily just like he never gave up on lia, his wife. Although Jeremy was angry at his mother for being absent sometimes, because of her own struggles, he forgives her after cecily tells him that if not for the illness, lia would have done everything she could to be present in Jeremy’s life. After that little separation, cecily is lied to by Ilya and tells her jer is dying and she comes running to him, and finds out he’s not. The best bodyguard award goes to Ilya levitsky. And then they have a sweet reunion, and cecily meets Jeremy’s parents, and they also enjoy a happy dinner. Jeremy arranges another hunt just to fulfill cecily’s fantasy and the book ends on a hea.

What i loved : i loved Jeremy, and his deviant tastes, and violent tendencies. He’s unhinged, but he also is a softie when it comes to his girl, and i also loved that there was no stabbing, shooting, or any other forms of harm involved in jer and cecy’s story. I didn’t want that, and i’m glad that didn’t happen. Jeremy is so soft, because he stalks her, makes sure she is safe, eliminates all the threats, and even saves her from potential sexual assault. This man is my roman empire. Thankyou. </Spoiler>

Favourite parts/ highlights : when Adrian has a talk with Jeremy after the little breakup Jeremy and cecily go through, kim’s welcoming for Jeremy in their home, while Xander is overprotective, and plots his murder in his head for stealing his only daughter.

God of pain is an interconnected standalone, the second book in the legacy of gods series. I read the books in this series based on my curiosity, love and fondness for rina’s writing. Queen never disappoints. (Not that i’d care if she did) I love her writing too much.

Rating : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (six stars because this book grew on me, and i loved every second of it)

Writing style : rina writes like a professional, some words I have to Google to understand, but her imagination, and the descriptions, the setting, the vivid way she portrays everything is eloquent. I love her writing so much. She’s a new to me author, but fuck do I love her writing sooooo much.

What i loved : this book had me in a chokehold, as the plot progressed, the beginning is slow, the pace of the book is slow to medium and then fast as we move to the end of the book. I really loved crieghton, because men who are quiet, but feel everything under the surface? My roman empire. Peak yoongi core.

Summary : i’ll try, but spare me, if i go wrong somewhere. So, the book starts with crieghton sneaking into Annika’s room after commitment arson, that is their first meeting. Annika is pressured by her father to marry a man of his choice as soon as she is 18, but she does not want to be trapped in an arranged loveless marriage, so she asks brandon to be her fake boyfriend, buttt— our broody king who is usually silent asks Annika to choose him, she doesn’t at first, and gets spanked, ahem punished for it by crieghton. Cray then visits her animal shelter she visits regularly, also puts up with the colour purple everywhere he goes, even adopts tiger- the cat Annika loves. The plot here is slow, as there are more intimate scenes with Annika and crieghton, and then some shenanigans with cecily, brandon, remington, landon, and others. Crieghton sleeps a lot, eats in the same amount, because he was starved, his only plan is to seek revenge, and that starts with Annika, but Annika seeps into his soul, his heart, that he finds it annoying to excute his plan when he wants to protect the shit out of her, pleasure her to the point of pain, because they both get off on it.

As the 50% mark passes, crieghton is adopted, he knows it too, and his past wasn’t something he knew about because aiden and elsa did not want to dig into his past, knowing that it would push cray too much. And they only wanted him to be happy, but landon being the little pest he is reveals his past to cray, and finds out that the girl he was supposed to avenge, is the same girl he is having feelings for, and the same girl’s parents are the ones behind the disaster of his life. Cray feels devastated, and kidnaps nikolai to pull Jeremy out of his den, but Annika finds out and reaches the scene, she can’t choose between her brother and her boyfriend, so she shoots Crieghton, and then regrets it, because she did not mean to do that, she did not have a choice, because crieghton won’t let Jeremy go. After that, aiden threatens Annika, when she comes to visit cray from afar in the hospital, and adrian threatens aiden, these two fathers give major sexy daddy vibes, I need to read their books quickly.

Annika prays for cray’s safety, she feels guilty for putting cray in pain so she agrees to go to the states as her father tells her, but she meets cecily and she is kidnapped by Crieghton, they spend intimate, sweet moments with each other, and then adrian reaches the scene and is absolutely displeased with the fact that she is kidnapped by Crieghton, and crieghton is displeased that her father had the audacity to take Annika away from him. Cray is so fearless in this scene, he slayed throughout the book, but this part was just chefs kiss. I loved it. Annika threatens to end her life if her father decides to end cray’s. Adrian reveals the truth to cray, and then witnesses another sweet moment, or more like cray’s love for Annika and decides to take them both to meet Lia, Annika’s mother.

Adrian still dislikes cray, but lia absolutely loves him. And the most interesting part is where adrian and cray plot yan’s death, seeing how both the women of their life were having the time of their lives. Their jealousy and possessiveness is so good to read. They both were at each other’s throat but the moment they see both their women having a merry time with another man, they are ready to unalive the said man, even if they have to plot it together. I love this dynamics, and the pov of the parents. Adrian and lia share a sweet time as well as cray and Annika. I love to see the love they have for each other, so much better than witnessing arguments, or divorce, or blame games. (No one will shame love in this household). Cecily approaches Annika to tell her something saying that she made a big mistake and that she does not know how to undo it. The cliffhanger here is just making me run to read god of wrath.

Favourite parts/ highlights : “you can’t sleep because of her, have brought her here more times than i can count, mentioned her in a fleeting manner when talking to mum — she won’t stop asking me about her, by the way, so compensate me for all the hassle — and you even told her about your childhood when you’ve never seen the need to mention it before. Oh, and you act like an unhinged caveman with serial killer tendencies whenever anyone, us included, goes near her. Bewitched us me putting it mildly.”

- I believed she had to make a choice, and the bitter truth is she’ll never choose me over her family. It’s probably unfair for me to ask her to, but I wanted her to pick me like she picked her bother that time. I wanted it to be me. I just never thought that my fixation and my okand to bring us closer would push us apart. I never thought i’d rob her of her light and leave her as this broken person. She looks nothing like my Annika. There’s no trace of her cheerfulness, the constant mischievousness, and innocence in her eyes, nor the energy that bubbled from her pores. She might have physically shot me, but I killed her. And there’s only one way to bring her back to life. Even if it means sacrificing my own in return.

God, I love these two so much, eli made an appearance in this book and i absolutely devoured his book too. This series is too good. Also the little cliffhanger rina left us about cecily and the thing she wanted to tell Annika, what was that about? Guess, will have to find out in the third book. I’m ready to read jeremy’s book.

Taken by touch and torment is the second and final book in the eternal possession duet by Maggie Sunseri. I absolutely loved this book, more than the first one. You must read the first book before you read this one.

Writing style : Maggie’s writing is poetry, she writes in a langauge that had me smiling, and feelings all sorts of emotions, she’s a gifted writer. It’s descriptive, and vivid, sometimes she drags things, but it only creates more mystery, so i’m all in.

MMC : Rune gets ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars, because this man, even though he failed once, he made sure he obliterated those who hurt his scarlett.

FMC : scarlett hale — ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ the character growth? Now this woman is what I want to see in fantasy romances, i’m so in love with her, she’s written so perfectly, i fucking love Maggie’s mind.

side characters : please Maggie, give me snow and uriah’s story, please. I just know their story is gonna be entertaining. The side characters stand out, on both sides, the antagonist and protagonist, both.

Story setting : i find it hard to know where the story is set in, valentin, Aristelle, and ravenia are the names i can remember, but all i understood is two people are fighting, rune and durian to have power. Rune just wants freedom for those who are trapped in sex slavery, while durian wants ultimate power over the turned vampires and born vampires, claiming that he is Lillian’s chosen.

Dedicated to by the author : the first book was dedicated to soulmate love, and the second book was dedicated to self love — the root of all other loves, and now that i have entered into self loving era too, this book felt like it was written for me. Also, the many references and uses of Maggie’s tarot knowledge was just top tier.

Pacing : slow to medium. The book wasn’t dragged, i was reading it slowly, it was perfect.

Tropes : vampire x succubus, fantasy romance, second chance, interconnected standalone, shadow daddy, obsessive, possesive, protective hero, strong heroine.

What i loved : I loved the book from the part when Scarlett is rescued, and how everyone from rune’s clan takes care of her after the shit she went through. The way rune is protective over her, but also does not clip her wings too much, how he understands when she wants to stand in her power, while standing beside her, cheering her, and being there for her. He is perfect, also, i didn’t imagine this man to be as dark of a hero as he was. But i loved it. And Scarlett’s growth from the book one, to this one, from going to understanding her identity, her sister’s bullying, to using her powers to escape durian’s clutches, from shaming herself to reclaiming herself, everything was just too good. This FMC was the best fmc i have ever read. I loved both rune and scarlett, I miss them. The book is not too long, it’s perfect, it gives more insight into the characters, story and I loved every bit of it.

Favourite parts/ highlights : scarlett and rune’s moments with each other. The dungeon scene 🥵, uriah and snow’s chemistry, banter. I loved rune’s possessiveness, and protectiveness, his rage, but I also loved her rage towards the men and everyone who hurt her. Loved to see her character arc.

Last details : i loved rune’s shadows, his guilt, his rage, scarlett’s rage, her dark feminine aura, her friends, snow, Rosalind, and her determination to step into danger again, even though knowing the horrors that would surround her. She wanted mortals to be free from slavery, and being forced into durian’s power. She did her best to stay strong through all the torture, humiliation, and pain durian put her through. Rune’s love became her strength, and i loved nothing more to see that her own power turned her on, her character growth is written so well, i was cheering while reading. I loved this duet so much. Best fantasy romance book of 2026.

Stalked by seduction and shadows is the first book in the eternal possession duet by Maggie sunseri. I saw someone recommend this book and say that they loved rune more than zade, and i wanted to give it a try. Maggie used her tarot powers to write this amazing book.

Characters : <spoiler> i loved rune, and the heartbreak that came with it, i loved Scarlett because it felt like Maggie saw my life and decided to write it down. And snow, the beautiful girl who stayed with Scarlett throughout the story, without judging her, or snickering behind her, everyone needs a friend like snow. And the side characters were all written perfectly. Durian does stand out, being the antagonist of the story.This story ends on a cliffhanger, just so you know. Story overview : the story starts with rune stalking Scarlett when she was a kid, and watching her every year when he returned to the town — crescent haven. And the stroy then proceeds to show us how Scarlett is not loved by her sister Isabella, and wants to leave the town, and travel, listen to music, and have many other adventures with her friend — Jackson. But plans go under water, because Isabella gets abducted by vampires, when they come looking for Scarlett, and she sees it, and makes a plan to rescue her sister from them, even if she has to go to the scary town Aristelle — home of vampires, and Rune. Rune lets Scarlett go at first, but at twenty - four, when isa is gone, Scarlett walks right into his arms without knowing he was her stalker. The story is carried out beautifully, except there’s nothing that Scarlett does to actually rescue her sister. And then she finds out that she is not just a human girl, but a succubus, and Rune believes it, and lets her slip away from his grasp only to land up in the villain’s hands, who can’t wait to get his hands on Scarlett, because of her powers and allure. And also his enemy’s girlfriend, so why not? The story is continued in the second book — Taken by touch and torment, the second and the final book in this series.

What I loved : i loved the story, the stalking, how they fell for each other, I especially loved snow, and rune, of course. I loved the angst that hurt, because i really thought rune would never believe that Scarlett was a succubus, and even she was, he wouldn’t mind it, but he did, and the burn hurt me in a good way, and then when she gets abducted, god, i’m ready for some groveling, and yearning that hurts from rune. The language was top tier, i didn’t understand everything, which is a good sign, Maggie is a talented writer, and I loved turning the pages, didn’t get bored. It was a beautiful fantasy romance with a Stalker MMC, and an FMC who didn’t back down just because rune was the vampire head of Aristelle. </Spoiler>

What I struggled with : someone in another review said that they mind the stalking of rune, when she was a kid, since this is a book, i didn’t mind it, real life is different. I didn’t struggle with anything, i flowed right to the end of the book without hesitation.

Can I take a moment to just squeal and jump, because hello, rina kent gave me my favorite hero in this series? God of war is the last and the sixth book in the legacy of gods series, all of them are stand alone, connected in the same world, you can read them in any order you like, there are tiny spoilers here and there, but if you don’t mind them, you should be good to read the books.

Characters : i) <s>Eli king — Eli is one of my favourite heroes from this series, this is my second book, though. Landon was good, but Eli tops the list for me. What do you mean, he made sure that she was not forced to go to a mental institution, made her feel like her life is hers, gave her everything she wanted, fought her parents, cecy, and Ariella when it came to her. Yeah, my man was down bad for ava. Also the fact that he did not pay her any attention when she was a kid, and confessed her feelings for him, but yearned for her so much throughout the book. I fucking love this man. Eli “my wife” king, always there for ava.

Ava nash / king — Ava is so demure and perfect in the way she does not bend for Eli. No matter how much of a crush she harboured for him when she was a teenager. Her little ways to annoy eli, making sure all the women who are interested in him stay away as a revenge, also struting into his workplace in skimpy clothing, woman knows she has eli wrapped around her finger. Their dynamic was funny, refreshing, and so fun to read. I thought i’d hate eli because there was nothing redeemable until i finished the book, and then i couldn’t stop crying internally, because this man made sure his woman did not jump off the building, did not tell his parents that she had stabbed him in an attempt to get away, did not eat, did not sleep, when she was away, gave her the divorce papers because she threatened him with her life, and nothing was more previous than ava for him. She was indeed embedded deep within him. </s>

What I loved : the story, the plot, it was intriguing, and so interesting, the 3 AM stubborn streak of not sleeping was worth it! The characters, I loved leo, ava, cecily, and Aiden. The side character’s appearances was also good to read.

What I struggled with : nothing.

Plot driven / character driven : plot driven.Favorite quotes/ highlights : when Ava stabs eli for not letting her go, and accidentally hurting him, because she didn’t mean to. Eli acts composed, and cold, but runs when he thinks ava’s life could be in danger, also he lets her add color pink to his gray life. I love how whipped and pretty eli is. “my wife” references, yeah, eli you have my heart, as well as Ava’s. Sorry, ava. I’m more possessive than you.

Any other details : god of war, indeed. This man would go to war for his wife. He does not do in betweens, and casual. This book is five stars, because everytime I read a rina kent book, the vocabulary is just so interesting. Please ma’am teach me more words. Those pink flowers on the cover are the reference for ava’s love for flowers in their home. And the color pink, because missy is so barbie coded and eli is ken coded, but make it dark. I love this book, and this universe. There’s something about a happy ending that is earned, this book felt like that. Eli was so careful, protecting, did not see her as broken, and that made me happy, because a man like eli, he would heal so many hearts of people out there. I loved him so much. He did not once made her feel like something was wrong with her, he took care of her in his own way. Even stayed away from her, because he thought his face triggered her, but made sure she was taken care of by the people around them. I’m even more excited for the other books in the series, and Jeremy and cecy’s story.
