kitae always tried not to hide when things were bad since he’d moved, doing his best to be better with the new friends he’d made. but he had a habit of downplaying his own struggles, which is exactly the impulse he had at rosie’s question. “okay.” he shrugged, holding out the drink to her now, leaning against his kitchen counter. “i’ve had some rough days, but i’m coping. what about you? how’s work?”

to say that rosie was surprised by his reply would be a lie. it was an impulse by now to detect signs that her friends had something going on whilst pretending they were fine. it something she did too, so she couldn’t really judge them. rosie took the cup of tea handed to her, setting it beside her on the counter to cool down a little bit. “work’s fine. i, like i thought, love it better than uni.” she chuckled. “... am i missing something?” she suddenly asked after taking a deep breath, actually worried now, especially after the way he responded.
