I really love how in the Project Hail Mary book they spend all this time establishing that Stratt can do Literally Whatever She Wants because it makes his protests against getting shot into space all that more hopeless. Not only is no one going to even TRY to save him from this, nobody COULD even if they wanted to.

Stratt is murdering him and it's the single best decision she ever made.

It is also horrifying, like Grace didn't even remember for so much of the trip and doesn't even have the time to truly process it at first.

I get forgiving her because he ended up with Rocky but sheesh! It was part of the reason Grace asked Rocky if he could think about it, and Rockys answer mattered because Grace asked Stratt the same thing. 3 hrs verses think a long time. And only one of them meant it 🥹

Thinking about Rocky being confused and slightly freaked out by all of Grace's human functions.

When Grace sneezes in front of him the first time, he thinks he's dying.

'What function does this serve question?'

'It doesn't have one'

And with every function that Grace explains, Rocky just thinks more and more how inefficient human bodies are.

For good reason, we're talking a lot about Jax, but I wanna analyze this scene with Caine for a second. His scene is very symbolic, and I think when he connected to the internet here, the scene of him almost walking through the door shows that he had a chance to leave. Caine could have escaped the computer and gone into the internet, but he hesitates at that door, and then stops and just stands at the barrier and decides to search everyone's names.

I think this is silent bit is Caine considering leaving, but then he decides that he can't until he's made things right. Instead of running away, he's going to go back and do what he can to fix things, even if it means they hate him. Even if it means he has to change.

which is probably a good thing because he's already sex-repulsed. if that bitch saw what those drawings of him on bsky i think he'd actually go full AM on the planet
