failure
I am too fragile for your NO
My frail bones cannot bear
the weight of one more rejection
The next NO will ride in on the tailwind of a breeze
that will snuff out the flickering light
behind my eyes
The mirror has replaced my
optimistic grin
with a stranger’s face
Who is this girl who never shows her teeth?
So much of myself has gone missing
all I have left is this skeleton
filled bursting
with not good enoughs, not worthys, thanks but no thanks,
not you, not now, no, just no.
I can see it in their eyes
green tinge replaced by pity
whispers
such potential. shame. what a waste.
