Greetings!

You have located the blog of The Author, an entity who writes and posts original fiction in their free time. This blog will be used to post chapter updates, as well as share shitposts that the author finds fitting for their characters.

The author's current primary project is Werewolves Pay Rent On Time, a work about navigating interpersonal intimacy while also fucking nasty. The work follows (most closely) Anya, an abrasive and irritable woman, and her roommate Tommy, a half werewolf half himbo sweetheart, as they connect with each other and the world around them. The work features an expansive cast and extensive smut, a rambling contemplation of intimacy, interpersonal relationships, and the bumps and hiccups the characters hit along the way. And also porn. It's porn, but there's plot in there somewhere.

Currently, works are posted to ao3 and locked to those who have an account there. Works will be made available through alternative means eventually, but the author does not currently have a predicted date of availability.

What IS an emdash

An em dash (—, named because it's the size of the letter M) is the proper typographical way to indicate a pause—like this—in a sentence.

In contrast, an en dash (–) is used to indicate ranges, such as 8 a.m.–9 p.m.

A normal hyphen (-) is used to conjoin words, such as anti-theft.

While en dashes are somewhat pedantic, em dashes help give a pause proper weight and prevent the reader from accidentally reading the pause as a compound word.

Also worth noting that none of the above should be used with spaces around them.

And as for the em dashes: To make me stop using them, they'll have to pry them out of my etc etc etc. Em dashes fulfill a very specific need in the auctorial voice... and real authors are where the fecking AI got them from in the first place. So I refuse to give up a useful device that's been in my toolbox for decades before AI was so much as a glint in anybody's eye.

I'm betting that this silly no-em-dashes phase will pass. After all, sometimes entropy runs to some useful effect. 😏
