Every move Jasper makes now puts her at risk of retreating into her gem at this point – there’s no possibility that she’s going to win any fight, much less one against Rose.

She’s beaten.

Snarling under her breath, Jasper pushed herself upright, then glowered up at the other. “Just kill me. You destroyed plenty of gems already.”

Like dry ice against her soft skin, the other’s words singe into her thoughts, and strike deeply into the core of her emotional balance. It is painful to hear the spoken word; it is more painful to realize the truth in them, even if varied. Although biting the inside of her lower lip to keep herself from shedding tears in front of her previous opponent, she cannot help the few that begin to trickle down her crimson cheeks.

❝ Their deaths were in my stead -- and for the rest of my existence, I will never go a day without cursing my own actions of leading my dearest and most cherished friends into this war, ❞ She said. ❝ But I did not destroy them -- YOU did. Because of your monopolized authority towards an innocent race, and your cruel actions in war, Hundreds --gems and humans alike -- fell dead at your feet, all used in vain to supply you with the satisfaction of being in control of others. ❞

Previously withdrawn at her side, Rose draws her scabbard upward and then sideways, halting it’s swing at the side of the other gem’s neck, the sword just barely touching Jasper’s skin.

❝ -- And it is a miracle for you and one as well for me, that i will never mimic your actions by taking your life to fulfill the same purpose in my case. ❞
