How about you actually listen to what I am saying, and donât perpetuate that I condone the sexual abuse of children, or anyone for that matter, when I have only said the exact opposite. Stop making these things a social issue when they're a scientific one. When people allowed mental illness and sexual orientation to become a primarily social issue, look what happened.
 Their brain chemistry means that stimuli that usually evokes the need to parent in us, evokes sexual thoughts in them. Thoughts, it doesn't mean they act on them. They have a sexual attraction, not a sexual obligation to rape. Just because I find a woman hot doesnât mean iâm now going to proceed to fuck her, because I have something called morals that restrain me. Only 10-15% of pedophiles offend. You do not have to be a pedophile to rape a child.Â
You do not get to generalise people. I donât care about your experiences, you do not get to use that to silent me. Oh are you pulling the gay card on me to make me feel guilty, well i'll pull out my pan card too, cause now apparently I need to be as disadvantaged as possible in order to have a valid opinion. However that seems pointless, for as soon as I inform that I can speak from a similar standpoint, you mock me and my depression, even though I explicitly stated that my one experience does not make me the law and judge.
 Pedophilia is a sexual orientation towards an age group, not a sex. They arenât necessarily only attracted to children, they can be attracted to people of other ages. My link that is âbullshitâ, is called science. You donât get involved in the construction of high tech space equipment, so why are you entitled to get involved in the matter of psychology and how the brain friggin works, the most complicated organ of our body? The thing that is far more complicated than any computer or device that we have invented, with billions of neurons and networks that are a result of both our genetics and experiences combined? If your ears and brain are in the slightest bit open to the world, youâll understand that no, pedophiles do not love their thoughts. Maybe some do, and theyâre disgusting, but once again youâre being a prick to generalise. Many feel guilt over what they think, they want to talk but if they do, shitheads like you will shout âyou deserve to dieâ, so they donât talk. They feel guilty, they stress over their thoughts, they believe themselves to be the monsters you say they are,  eventually it interferes with their day-to-day lives. Strange, I swear that deviating thoughts that cause distress and disrupt a personâs ability to function, were mentioned in something called mental illness.
And when I touched on the subject with my friend the other day, her immediate response was âthey deserve to die. I know theyâre born that way, but they deserve to die.â She was as stubborn as you, and even though she accepts that they are born that way, she refuses to understand it because she as a bisexual person, doesnât want the word pedophile and orientation to be mentioned in the same sentence. Which I can empathise with, why she is sensitive, but it doesnât justify her attitude to me.
And when society is convinced that you are already a sexual predator, that is dangerous and deserves to be exterminated, what do you do? What do you do, when you are told to die for something you cannot control, especially when the control you can obtain over your health, your own state of mind is taken from you, as the law forces professionals to give your name, the moment you admit to simply having these thoughts, but never actually following on them, committing them. What happens when that name is found, and even though you have dedicated your life to being celibate, and maybe even avoided interaction with children at all costs over the guilt and disgust you feel towards yourself, you are a monster, and you deserve to go to hell. Your friends no longer understand or love you, you cannot get a job. You have no place in the world.
While their tragedies donât justify actions towards children, itâs a blaring light as to what makes them eventually do something so awful. Regardless of your gender, race, mental state, genetics etc, at one point, when society only wants you dead and burning in hell, is it realistic to think that a person is going to remain emotionally and mentally healthy? No. Iâm not defending the act of pedophilia, but I am defending those who canât help the chemistry of the brain, and are automatically believed to be sexual predators when theyâve never and never will touch a child in such a way.Â
Regardless of your experiences, I am not backing down on this. To the people who read this, who have been affected by it, I apologise. But the worst thing is to allow ourselves to be ignorant. Because those statistics, the statistics that included you, are only going to go up if we donât seek to understand why and how.
