Science suggests certain neurochemicals & genes influence how social we are.
Working at home should be ideal for an introvert like me. So why am I not entirely comfortable with it?
Broken - when it comes to being social, I don’t work properly.
What is ‘the schizoid dilemma’?
The schizoid experiences some degree of pain whether they are alone or attached.
Why some choose solitude over spending time with others on Christmas Day.
There are people for whom the social pressures and expectations of the festive season can prove just as difficult, and be dreaded just as much, as the loneliness experienced by those who don’t want to be alone.
Why I hate talking at the hairdressers.
It’s not ‘unnatural’ to be a loner.
Loners are not ‘sick’ or ‘strange’ - they are just another way humans can be.
Quiet kids face prejudice in an education system that favours extroversion.
It’s time to end ‘Quiet Prejudice’ in our schools.
The asexual ‘awkward nerd’ stereotype reflects a broader prejudice that exists against people who are socially atypical.
Sexuality and sociability are inextricably linked in our society - hence why asexuality is often associated with social awkwardness.
Some thoughts on the schizoid/avoidant distinction.
