I hate that I fully understand this
And that's that on that.
Apparently I wasn't done š¤
These are FABULOUS, OP, but can I suggest one to the riff of "QUEERNESS IS NOT DEFINED BY THE AMOUNT PEOPLE HAVE SUFFERED"?
Thanks! Here you go š„°
Some other additions:
Inspired by @unicorn-in-the-library:
And because @surfs-up-roxy wanted an ace one:
I didn't want to make the message ace-specific because I wanted to make a point of how all of the above include aspec people, but I tried to use an ace colour palette for the background :) I also think the message applies especially (even if not exclusively) to the ace community!
Hope you like these š„°
@rockmarina possibly āall labels were made up at one point, stop being an assā?
I played around with the concept a bit, I hope you like it anyway!
I feel like this also needs to be said:
Literally anyone whoās read the results of any other time this experiment has been tried. Why are we still trying to prove the concept?
Hereās the link if anyone wants it!
https://www.newscientist.com/article/2242937-universal-basic-income-seems-to-improve-employment-and-well-being/
Finlandās two-year test of universal basic income has concluded that it doesn't seem to disincentivise working, and improves recipientsā men
Weāre still trying to prove the concept because in the West, Big Business and their owners, The 1%, are screaming at the thought of having to give up a little money so everyone can get universal income that supports life - meaning jobs either have to pay you to put up with the literal shit or people can walk away from them without becoming homeless.
Our entire system is basically based on people being so afraid of homelessness and starvation that theyāll accept any shit job for shit pay.
Past experiments have shown that UBI:
Increases high school graduation rates
Reduces:
Domestic violence
Alcoholism
Emergency room visits related to mental health
Road traffic accidents.
All while not disincentivizing employment for most groups (the exceptions being high school students, who were able to focus on their studies, and new mothersā¦who were using it as maternity leave!)
People, for the most part, want to work.
UBI would allow us to expand the definition ofĀ āwork.ā If somebody can live off of UBI, then they can devote themselves to things which we donāt currently value financiallyĀ such as the arts, raising children well, etc.
And if somebody wants to stay home and play video games all dayā¦then so be it. Not that many will.,..and of those who do most will probably find some way to make thatĀ into theirĀ āwork,ā whether by providing play throughs and tutorials or competing seriously.
If somebody stops working all together as soon as they get UBI and stays home to play video games, they probably desperately needed a break.
There are so many people who are struggling with mental and physical illnesses, and chronic pain, who are still breaking themselves working because they donāt have another option - because it can take years to get on disability, and itās not enough to survive on, so people keep going as long as they possibly can.
Even if itās not a matter of disability, as such ⦠people get burned out?
Weāre not really built to do school and work with minimal breaks to the extent that we do.
Despite what our puritanical culture says, thereās no shame in needing a break.
The reason we donāt have UBI is not because it costs too much money like they say itās because it would take away the leverage businesses have over their employees (starvation and death)
UBI would also force businesses to improve working conditions because if there are poor working conditions, well, no one HAS to work for you, do they?
anyway pour one out for the underpaid Capitol Hill staffers who singlehandedly saved the results of the 2020 election
Also the janitors and other staff (almost all POC) who had to clean up the mess after hunkering down while a white mob of Nazis strolled into the building at the invitation of the police who are supposed to protect them.

Indentured servitude is opresssion.
Indentured servitude is not chattel slavery.
The Irish were oppressed and have a history of indentured servitude.
The Irish were not bought and sold or held as property generation to generation.
Please stop confusing the two. Thanks.
fun funeral facts
embalming, the process of chemically preserving a corpse, is typically not required by law. unless you need to transport the body long-distance or postpone the burial, itās 100% a vanity thing.
a body still rots in air-tight conditions. so āprotectiveā or āsealedā caskets are basically a scam, and anything fancy like metal is a waste of money.
want a beautiful casket for a viewing, but think burning or burying an expensive piece of hardwood is a waste of money and trees? rentals exist.
you donāt need a coffin for cremation. the minimum requirement is that the body be in a ācremation container,ā which is a simple cardboard box.
home funerals are an option. you donāt need to hand the body over to a funeral home, and you can keep their involvement to a minimum.
natural burial sites exist. you can have your unembalmed body straight up thrown in the dirt to be tree food, if you want.
there are a lot of funeral homes that will prey on your ignorance and vulnerability in order to get as much money out of you as possible. they may imply optional certain services are legally mandatory, steer you away from cheaper options, charge additional costs for whatās supposed to be all-inclusive services, etc.
one personās death is another personās profit. know your rights, do your research, and apply the same scrutiny you would to any other business.
For those of you interested, the youtube channel Ask A Mortician does a lot of videos on taboo death subjects, answers questions and is a huge advocate for natural burials and being present during the actual funeral process so you donāt get taken advantage of by the funeral industry. Sheās one of my favourite youtubers and I highly recommend her videos.
Hi! Iām in med school for mortuary science and these are all true! I would definitely encourage you to do your own research + watch Ask A Mortician before some greedy funeral director sucks you of your money š¤šš¤

i feel like cis people assume if youāre trans youāre either gay or straight and thatās why you barely ever see positivity posts for trans bi people so hereās your daily reminder that weāre here and weāre great! bi trans women? amazing. bi trans men? amazing. nonbinary bi people? you guessed it, amazing!
the amount of thanks iāve gotten in the tags for this simple post just further proves my point⦠support bi trans people!!!
Ecofascism and American Christianity have a lot in common.

As Scotlandās landmarks slowly open back up - please be reminded to keep a unicorn between you and other people.
Reminder that the national animal of Scotland is in fact a unicorn.
You ever invite your coworker to watch you give birth just to spite a racist
Okay howmst the fuck has a ship doctor in the far future never handled a birth without the father present? Are sperm donors and gay couples and trans women no longer a thing in the bajillionth century CE?? :/
I while understand the frustration with erasure sometimes it helps to look at things through the cultural context of when something was made. Star Trek the Next Generation was made in 1987, this particular episode I believe aired in 1988 a time when a future where the husband was always present for the birth would have been amazing to many of the people watching the show as men had only been allowed to be present for the birth of their children for 10/15ish years at that point in the US.
Women (and many men) fought for decades with hospitals to even have men allowed in the delivery room during the early stages of labor, which can last for several hours, and hospitals only began to give in to their requests in the 1960s but even then they would be kicked out of the room by hospital staff before the actual birth took place. So many of the couples watching the show would have had to go through labor without having/being allowed to support their spouse regardless of their wishes. Having the childās father present for the birth only began to happen in the 1970s and 1980s. Which means most people watching this show either went through birth without the support of their spouse, were not allowed to support their spouse during the birth of their child, or their own motherās went through that during their birth.
A future where the husbands were always present for the birth was still a little crazy to consider in the late 1980s. A good kind of crazy for the people living in that time, it showed a future where the wishes of the couple were finally consistently listened to by medical professionals as a result of the actions of people during their or their parentās lifetimes. And it does that by also subverting it in allowing Data to step into the role of the father when the father was unknown and/or unwilling/unable to fill that role (Iāll be honest my knowledge of Next Gen is a bit spotty and I have not seen this whole episode, just a piece of it at family Thanksgiving). The womanās desires as to how she would give birth are listened to and respected, something that still doesnāt happen in many hospitals now and would have been seen as even more revolutionary then. So while it isnāt perfect I think this scene was actually fairly impressive for its time and cultural context and shows a future that many people of that time would have seen as ideal.
hello everyone
i am a proud mixed Indigenous lesbian. i struggle to announce this. i know my issues are not that big compared to what is going on globally. itās hard to see your life as worthwhile when, in the grand scheme of things, it is insignificant. but i fear for my life.
yesterday (9/7) i found out i have cervical cancer. after months of waiting for an appointment, despite having known since something was wrong, due to the injustice that is the American healthcare system. it has completely turned my world upside down + shaken me to my core. with every breath i fear the cancer is spreading. i donāt know how long my own body has been killing itself, all i know is that i need to hurry to get the injured parts of it removed.Ā
my family has built itself from the ground up and is barely managing. especially with the pandemic.. which has taken a tremendous toll on the alaskan economy.. and as farmers, we lack the means to afford the medical care iām in dire need of. i struggle with my mental health during a normal day, and this news has virtually killed any light i had left. my waking moments have felt like a nightmare. a nightmare with no foreseeable end in sight.Ā
if there is anyone out there who reads this, by offering your help you are saving me. whether it be by thoughtful sentiments or contributions or spreading this post wherever you can. my life is not in my hands anymore.
thank you for taking the time to read this. i appreciate all of you

fat trans ppl deal with a lot of shit and its so sucky because some people will only support skinny trans ppl bc thats all they can conceptualize and accept when trans ppl in actuality come in all different types of bodies
if u dont support fat trans ppl the way u support skinny trans ppl u need to rethink what kind ofĀ āallyā u are.
As a fat trans woman this is so true even within the trans community. Iāve had so many other trans women invalidate me, be dismissive of my issues and experience, and so forth simply because of my size. Itās really fucking disappointing to run into.
Yāall should check out the works of Rakeem Cunningham! He photographs a lot of diverse and beautiful people, both cis and trans. As a gay trans man myself, they really help to reassure me that there are gay men beyond photogenic cis twinks and bears. These photographs are from his series Body Pride:
These are from his Trans Professionals series:
Also, check out Jess T Duganās photographs of trans and genderqueer people:
As a trans photographer, Jess Dugan is basically my role model. Her photos of elder trans people, To Survive On This Shore, is amazing.
So much beauty
