i am obviously a no kids truther but i think there’s something potentially interesting regarding ilya shane having children and assimilation like ilya being like i want my kids to have a relationship with my home country somehow :) and shane is like of course baby but he goes tersely quiet and ilya says what and shane says well i just think…like its not like i really have a relationship to japan and ive even been to japan and obviously we wouldn’t be able to take our kids to russia so maybe don’t get your hopes up too much and shane thinks he’s being like nice by trying to measure ilya’s expectations because ilya is a dreamer and he doesn’t like seeing his baby get his feelings hurt when things don’t measure up and he’s Just Being Honest (which is one of shanes virtues) but ilya feels like he’s just been shot and its one of those situations where shane’s pragmatism ends up being really unintentionally hurtful but shane because he can’t really read the situation just continues like my mom tried to teach me japanese at some point but it didn’t really stick and ilyas like doesn’t that make you sad? and shane’s like idk what would there to be sad about? and ilya is like im going to bed and shane looks up and realises they have been arguing and he didn’t even know and gets worried and defensive and is like wait are you upset? im just saying and ilyas like well thank you shane. for just saying.
like ilya is so permanently cancelled. that’s important to me. it’s 2014 and people are @ing him to ask if he’s a feminist and he’s responding “of course, i love when woman is on top.” he is name searching himself to make fun of his haters for not having custody of their kids. he is posting sports journalists’ DUI mugshots. he is snapchatting himself in russia for the summer wrestling with someone’s pet tiger. menace does not begin to cover it.

One thing that particularly really pisses me off about north american colonialism is people's adamant refusal to either recognize or admit that indigenous genocide is still a very real and active thing going on. And I know this stems from the fact that people only view genocide as just mass killings of people (which is also still happening its just more covert than you think) but its also a separation, assimilation, and destruction of a peoples/culture.
in the US alone we make up less than like 2% of the entire fucking population, its basically impossible to be native unless you're mixed or inbred as fuck (which is part of why blood quantums are stupid), and despite this we still make up the majority of sexual violence and abduction victims. We are STILL dying, we are STILL being murdered and erased and silenced and so many other fucking things but trust me guys everything's fine now because some shitty corporate did a recognition of the land post before violating government contracts and building another oil line through indigenous lands.
And on that note a lot of you need to learn what cultural appropriation actually is and the damage it does beyond just "white people claiming ethnic thing".
a THIRD woc is being written off the pitt
When Yuna has her “no son(in law) of mine will have inferior brand deals and management” takeover shortly after she learns about Shane and Ilya, how long do you think it takes her to figure out his money situation with his family?
I’m imagining her/maybe Shane playfully ribbing him about how he has no real financial manger or decent investments and what do you MEAN you just let a paycheck like that sit in your account while buying luxury cars every five minutes no wonder your net worth is shockingly low for your value, etc etc. and he’s not even offended he’s surprised and pleased that his new family is so invested in him and also enjoys watching where Shane gets some of his crazy. Like Ilya Mommy Issues Rozanov is “yes please ma’am optimize my finances and worry about my wellbeing harder” while he shovels whatever David made for dinner in his mouth.
But then at some point while she’s (lovingly) harping on his financial irresponsibility he just kind of quietly mentions that actually so much of his paycheck was going back home to his family when he was younger that he needed to blow shit on cars or whatever pretty quick if he didn’t want it to disappear. And she realizes that yeah he’s a little dummy who spent a concerning amount of money on VIP sections last year and thinks bank account interest is investing but he was also a child supporting his entire family in a foreign country with no one bothering to look out for his best interest or explain planning for a future.
David gets treated to impassioned rants every night about how “David I’m not convinced anyone even read that boy his contract in Russian”.
She starts managing him as well, obviously, and she’s kind of disturbed by how easily he just signs whatever she puts in front of him and doesn’t bother asking questions before agreeing to hand over all his management to her. He just seems thrilled she got him a Lamborghini partnership and an invite to fashion week.
The only time he puts up a fuss is when he realizes she’s not planning to take any significant cut of his money because “you’re family sweetheart” and he looks like he got smacked in the head with a shovel and has to go outside on the porch with Shane for a suspiciously long period of time.
Just to make sure it’s not suspicious that Yuna Hollander is now managing Ilya Rozanov she takes on a few more clients too. And if she specializes in managing rookies with no support network or active language barriers then that’s just a coincidence.
wait jack could absolutely retire and become a stay at home dad while samira continues to be the future of medicine
I need abbot to clock in and tell Samira that she is capable or ANYTHING she wants and she should do whatever she wants and he will write her any recommendation so she can achieve that!!!!!
And then season 6 marriage.
Any way you shake it, Samira Mohan being written off affects the show. She mattered to the story. She mattered to plot lines and character dynamics. She mattered to the audience.
And not to make it about mohabbot, but the loss of Samira will absolutely affect Abbot.
Like, yes, it affects his characterization and what his screen time centers around moving forward.
But it also affects the way the fans show up for him.
People loved mohabbot. And it’s popularity fed into Abbot’s popularity.
Noah Wyle is infamous for his jealousy of other actors. And that interview dropping about “Mr. Bookend” being “super sexy,” has everyone joking that Abbot will be on the chopping block next, etc.
But if it’s true that Shawn Hatosy is a John Wells darling, getting rid of him is not an option. So, what do you do?
You take away the thing that increases likability for your competition. You take away a dynamic that takes attention away from you.
You take away Mohabbot.
There were a lot of “reasons” they wrote off Samira Mohan. And I suspect, like many other people, it was first snd foremost racist and misogynistic in nature.
But you can’t tell me he won’t revel in the way that this will hurt Abbot.
I can just see him thinking oh, we can get rid of the actor who has the gall to advocate for themselves and their character, and push “The George Clooney of The Pitt” down a rung?
The whole thing is just gross. Every angle I try to look at it is just…gross. Idk a better word atp.
There’s also something so sinister about the purposeful isolation of Samira this season that mirrors Collins’ in the first. As if in an attempt to minimize the damage of her departure…. but that’s a thought for a different post.
the entire reason i started watching the Pitt with my parents was because i had watched a Mohabbot ship edit on tiktok... what's the point in investing my time on this now?
soft launch 💖
I’ve been watching this show since its premiere, and Samira was one of the reasons I stayed. Her character is compassionate in a way that feels so real. She advocates for her patients without hesitation and always leads with empathy. Her scenes with Joyce and Nandi really resonated with me as someone who works in healthcare.
This season has been a disservice to character. It’s kind of frustrating, especially after Noah said her character would play a big role this season, and we’ve seen so little of her. I feel like we haven’t gotten to see her really shine as a senior resident. And I am tired of people pointing to “Well, she’s a senior resident” as if that explains away her absence. She wasn’t the only senior resident, yet she’s the only one being pushed out. It’s impossible to ignore the pattern, especially when the same thing happened with Tracy after last season. It’s hard not to see a trend in how the show treats its women of color.
My heart breaks for Supriya. They brought so much life and heart to that role. They were truly meant to play someone like Samira. And I hope they know how much they are loved. Writing about her has brought me so much comfort. I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

Sunburnt Sneak Peek
Jack had seen Samira in a bikini countless times before. He should be used to it by now. He wasn’t, though.
Peach against bronzed skin. It had to be new because he definitely would’ve remembered seeing her in it. The fabric molded to her hips, and the top was so tiny that it barely contained her. It almost felt intentional. Was she trying to torture him? It was certainly working.
“Amara, baby, do you want to go see the water,” Samira murmured, crouching down in front of their daughter. She was completely oblivious to the crisis she’d just created behind her. Jack forced his gaze up before he got himself into trouble.
Amara was plopped in the sand. Her attention was fully enraptured by the fact that she had just discovered she could grab handfuls of it. Her tiny fingers curled into the grains, her wrist twisting as she lifted it, letting it fall again like it was the most fascinating thing she’d ever seen.
Amara let out a babble, bringing a fistful of it to her mouth.
“We don’t eat that. That’s not a snack, baby.” Samira caught her wrist.
“Mmm,” Amara protested.
Jack bent down. “You’re already causing trouble, huh?”
She peered up at him, her doe eyes so familiar. They were the same as Samira’s, set beneath a halo of dark curls that she’d inherited too from her. Her nose and the faint dusting of freckles were him. And just like with Samira, he already knew he’d never be able to refuse her anything.
“Da,” she said proudly.
Yeah. That still did it. Didn’t matter how many times she said it, he always seemed to have the same reaction. He never wanted to stop hearing that word. “Come on. Let’s go see the water.”
Amara pushed herself up, wobbling as she got her feet under her. Samira took one of her hands, while Jack took the other.
The waves rolled in, white foam spilling across the sand before retreating again. Amara leaned forward, her tiny hand gripping his finger, practically dragging him toward the water.
“Easy, kiddo,” Jack laughed, trying to keep his balance. Walking on the sand was tricky. His prosthetic didn’t grip the way an actual foot would.
The water reached them in a cool rush, washing over Jack’s foot and Samira’s toes, lapping gently at Amara’s ankles.
She let out a high-pitched squeal, bending down. Her free hand slapped against the surface of the water, sending droplets flying into the air.
“You like it?” Samira kneeled down to match her height. Amara answered by doing it again.
Jack lifted the camera from around his neck. Taking pictures had become a habit since Amara was born. His camera roll on his phone was all her and Samira. “Gimme a smile, my beautiful girls.”
