You seriously need to read this thread on Twitter, because it sums up the main issue with Killing Eve seasons 3 and 4 perfectly.
Season 1 was a masterpiece. Season 2 was definitely not as good, but it still understood the characters. Seasons 3 and 4 undermined the whole purpose of Killing Eve, Eve, and Villanelle. They showed a fundamental misunderstanding of the characters and the story itself. They took a morally subversive story and bent and twisted it to fit a moral binary it was never supposed to exist in – one it was supposed to rebel against.
Eve and Villanelle were meant to be a defiance of that moral binary, to exist all along a spectrum of right and wrong and morally gray areas, because they don't confine to traditional concepts of right and wrong to begin with.
Anyway, the showrunners of seasons 3 and 4 didn't understand the characters, nor the point of the story they inherited, and it showed.
everyone is super smug about tumblr being the best social media but nobody acknowledges it’s because tumblr is the only social media dominated by girls and women
has anyone else noticed that it’s perfectly acceptable to say “a white woman has white privilege” or “a lesbian has cis privilege” or “a black woman can have non-latin privilege” but god forbid we ever say “a black man has male privilege” or “a gay man has male privilege” or anything remotely similar? it’s perfectly fine to accept that women can still have privilege even though they struggle with sex based oppression, but if a man faces any sort of oppression at all, it’s sacrilegious to even contemplate that he may still be privileged in other areas.
it’s almost like… men have to do nothing more than bare minimum (existence) to be above any and all criticism? hmm…
Nah I think they're gay men because they're literally male and the way Aziraphale in particular interacts with society has nothing in common with special gender experiences and everything in common with gay male experiences
I mean I read the book, not once did it say something like “and then Crowley/Aziraphale became a woman” or “Upon being called ‘he’, Crowley/Aziraphale angrily pointed to their they/them pin”. I watched the show and nothing like that was in there, either. They were both played by regular looking men who you can tell are men from a mile away. I’m simply going off what I’ve been provided in canon, Caspian.
“arm teachers!” i have never heard anything more Civilian in my entire life.
i was an infantry platoon leader in the us army. my job was a lot of planning, recon, looking at maps and drawing on them, simply to make sure a group of armed people doesn’t accidentally starting killing itself. a group of armed PROFESSIONALS, mind you. men whose entire job is “kick down that door and shoot everyone inside.” if i didn’t plan that shit out to a T, my soldiers could have killed each other easily.
but sure, let’s give every teacher at the high school a handgun. what could go wrong? fuck outta here, go back to playing CoD in the basement where you can’t hurt anyone. this isn’t the movies. you are going to get people killed.
the more i think about it, the more it’s melting my brain. give a pistol to every faculty member in a crowded multistory building, that might have flimsy sliding partitions instead of walls, that might have bigass windows, that might be in the middle of a downtown block. maybe a quick gun safety course but no time to train them in fire team tactics with all the SCHOOLING that has to get done. if any student decides to start something, they’re now empowered to point their weapon in a super special direction called “anywhere”. and the commander, the one responsible for their lives, is, who, the fucking principal? that guy?? Civilian Clownery
There are so many layers to this I'd love to talk about but for now I'd like to offer a perspective from a first grade teacher I'm very close to:
In all likelihood, a school shooter is a student.
In all likelihood, the school shooter has spent some number of months, if not years, attending that school. He has likely spent years of his life in those classrooms, with those teachers. They babysat him, they taught him, they coached him, they disciplined him. Some of them may have hated him, or disliked him, or felt neutral towards him. Some of them may have liked him. Some of them may have thought he was bright, but shy, or kind, but troubled. Some of them may have tried to intervene in his life.
Give those teachers a gun. Ask them to load that gun. Ask them to point that gun at a student.
Ask them to pull the trigger.
The British courts believed Johnny Depp beat his ex-wife. What’s stopping the rest of us?
The guy in the photo is a volunteer who helps to exhume bodies from mass graves in Kyiv region.
Facebook and Instagram restrict the visibility of pictures from Bucha and other towns due to sensitive content concerns. Well, to understand the horrors of the Bucha massacre, you can just look at the face of this guy. He has just pulled dozens of brutally murdered Ukrainians from the ground.
Okay???? Tf
Okay??? I don't care. Sorry that you think removing the bodily autonomy of women is equivalent to stopping the medical experimentation of children, Vice News, but some of us have brain cells. Really fucking sick of trans shit being lumped in with EVERY other (actually legitimate) social movement to give themselves credibility.
"anti-trans legislation" is so vague. like are they saying you can't conduct medical experiments on children or are they actually anti-trans? you'll never know
some women be like “my man washed a dish once. I’m very lucky” and it makes me so sad for her like you just know she never cums
A lot of people have upsettingly low expectations, especially of men’s domesticity.
Not to undercut that, but this also reminds me, tangentially, of an old post. A woman had posted about having welcomed her husband home from work with a bacon sandwich and a blowjob while he ate it, and somebody sent her an anon ask comparing her to a unicorn. She said she was flattered, but felt sad that anon’s experience of women had made him equate a woman who’d give him a bacon sandwich and a BJ to a rare mythological creature.
I would kill you with my bare hands if possible
scared the man 😭
Men: Men have a better sense of humour than women.
Men when women make a joke: Was that by accident? Do you know you just made a joke?
NO!!!! IT LITERALLY ISN'T!!!!!!! IT STARTED WITH TIKTOK GENDIES TRYING TO MAKE LESBIANISM MORE INCLUSIVE BY DEFINING IT AS 'NON MEN ATTRACTED TO NON MEN'!!! TERFS WERE THE FIRST PEOPLE TO CALL IT OUT!!!! IM LOSING MY MIND ARE YOU PEOPLE EVEN REALLLLLL
Everyone on that one makeup post being like "I'm 4000 years old and I've NEVER worn makeup and it's fine actually" lmao of course you think it's fine if you've never worn it.
Go wear some for a day. A week. Then come back and tell me you didn't notice people were nicer. They smiled more. They said yes.
That's the "pressure." Nobody ever meant there was some literal makeup cop breathing down your neck. It's the knowledge that your day goes better if you just... submit.
yeah im sure youre okay with this, internetcatholicism
