the way y'all argue is so sinister actually... every trans person becomes a lifelong patient specifically because they decide to go through hrt and surgery. yeah sure time passing is inherently damaging just like hrt. but time passing is an inherent fact to life while hormone treatment causes suffering that can easily be avoided.

i'm a lifelong patient because of my autism and c-ptsd disabling me and affecting both mental and physical health

it is a tragedy that i cannot get ahead at the same pace as my peers, it is a tragedy that i'm always in physical pain making me unable to interact with people normally 99% of the time, without being bombarded with assumptions for why i'm "so weird" when i'm in constant physical pain.

If there was a treatment for your c-PTSD that had an over 99% rate of improving your life experience, with the trade-off that you needed regular medication and some increased risk of health complications with long-term use (much like every other fucking medication ever created), would you take it? not if it involved taking hormones and permanently growing/removing body parts, no. i love myself and i'm strong enough to continue living with c-ptsd, i find the wisdom i need due to my experiences and continue to live on. c-ptsd is developmental trauma and goes hand-in-hand with my autism, i don't know if i would've been the same person if i didn't experience it.

so no, i wouldn't.

and, alternative treatment for gender dysphoria is underresearched because it's offensive and 'transphobic' now to try and take dysphoric kids seriously enough to ask them real questions. in a couple generation we're going to have a boom of adults that ended up underdeveloped and missing body parts, having illnesses for life because they feel they cannot be themselves in the body that they have. as if their body implies anything about them other than biological reality, which in fact does not have to define someone.

eg i'm a woman but never felt like one and doubted my womanhood bc of that. however, i ended up realising that being female is in no way shape or form a feeling, a costume, a preference. i can be anyone and still be a woman. i'm very androgynous and don't feel the need to label myself other than scientifically because i don't hate myself for being a woman that's assertive, good at fixing things, enjoys video games and is attracted to women. because usually all there is to it is taking societal pressure so deeply seriously that you believe this instead of your lived reality. and then ruin your life and health trying to achieve a goal that can never be achieved (aka changing your sex).
