The new campaign shines a light on homeless women who need assistance caring for their menstrual cycles. According to the Guardian, approximately 26% of people in the U.K. who receive “homelessness services” are female. But in most shelters, “sanitary ware or any kind of period ephemera is scarce,” Vice reported earlier this year. Three women have a plan to fix that.

Like once in my life, recently, I saw someone say she loves having her period and I had a tiny twinge of like… discomfort? bc I have Endo and another surgery coming up and much trauma surrounding my diagnosis but literally a split second after that fleeting feeling I was like

Because all women deserve to feel good about their femaleness and so what if I can’t share that feeling? Like sure that twinge of like envy or resentment towards my own uterus happened and that’s fine cuz we all feel stuff, we’re allowed. But like???

I’m sorry but people who are not able to move past their own discomfort or dissonance to extend empathy or compassion to others can like,,, fuck off. By all means feel your feelings and acknowledge them but anything beyond that is controlling and fucked up.

There’s nothing more selfish than demanding that someone doesn’t experience or enjoy something just because you can’t, for reasons they have NOTHING to do with. The only time I think it’s reasonable is if a pregnant woman asks the father to also abstain from things she has to abstain from, in solidarity. But he’s the reason she has to, so it’s justified to ask.

But demanding women negate their womanhood bc you were born male? To hate it and reject it, to smother it, hide it away, be ashamed of it? Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck you.

Do NOT ignore it if you see your dog or cat eat weed. Do not take it for granted, do not think it’s just funny when your pet acts spaced out or trembly. Theyre not having a bad trip, theyve ingested a poison.

It affects some animals more than others so you have no idea how it’s going to affect your pet.

Today, we had a 20kg dog eat a grape sized, non grinded, bushel of weed.

The next morning he was found collapsed, non responsive in a puddle of his own vomit and urine.

He was on intensive care and constant monitoring throughout the day and night but was thought to be brain dead by lunchtime on the day of admit. He had seizures, brain swelling and was comatose. He needed someone to breathe for him. I can’t even begin to explain the extensive meds and fluids he was on.

He was euthanised as eventually no more meds could be added and it was assumed he either had too severe brain damage to ever recover, or he was actually completely brain dead.

The owners didn’t want this, it was just lack of awareness as to why they didn’t bring him in sooner. He seemed okay at the time. They were devastated when it all was over.

So what I can’t stand, is all these videos of people laughing at their cats “getting high” whilst hotboxing or making memes out of their dogs that have got into brownies.

Don’t do it. It’s so stupid.

It can and will kill your pet a lot quicker than you think.

I really dislike how women in period movies are made up according to modern beauty trends. Im tired of seeing Roman women with perfect eyeliner and Marie Antoinettes with peachy blush. I'm sick of contoured Cleopatras and 1920s flappers with 21st century lipstick.

Its not just about historical accuracy, it's a matter of female class consciousness. If the women in these movies were made up according to the trends of previous epochs, it would really throw the fleeting (and frankly grotesque) nature of make up and beauty trends into the spotlight. Renaissance women with plucked foreheads, Elizabethan women with glaze-like egg whites smeared on their faces, Japanese women with blackened teeth, Aztec women with ochre on their skin to make it look yellow...

From our 21st century pov, these things sound disgusting - not to say completely ridiculous. With the hindsight of a couple centuries, it's easy to point out how grotesque these trends were. How grotesque women had to look. And we might think that our standards are better, but this will be us in a couple of centuries too! How will people in 200 years think of our make up trends? How will they perceive our contoured faces, our hairstyles, etc? I don't think they'll be fawning over pouty looks and structured eyebrows.

Making women up according to our modern trends in period pieces airbrushes the past and prevents us from realizing not only how ridiculous previous trends were but also how ridiculous our modern ones are. This isn't just about historical accuracy, it's about women realizing the many forms misogyny has been taking throughout time, and not being fooled by its current shape.

Right now students and teachers are being arrested left and right. These people are protesting how the President of Turkey nominated Melih Bulu (someone who previously served in the ruling party and has no ties to this university) as the rector for Bogazici University, a private university.

Bogazici University is known for having a left-leaning progressive student body and the government is trying to assert control over the students by putting his own men in there. Bulu as a rector has already taken steps such as banning the school's LGBT+ Studies Club.

They are now branding these protestor, these students as "terrorists". The government is especially now targeting LGBT+ people, saying that we don't exist. The police are very much openly targeting and assaulting people who are or support LGBT+ people.
