great! love that this finally happened before i have dance FIVE DAYS IN A ROW
is this ship popular because itās legitimately compelling or is it popular because itās the easiest to decontextualize and write college roommate AUs about?
this post broke containment and is getting ālet people have fun and enjoy thingsā comments, so i want to clarify that i hate fun and want to personally bludgeon everyone who has ever written a college roommate AU with a hammer
For all its faults Tumblr has truly ruined all other social media for me because my friends all have Instagram and are all trying to get me on Instagram more but every time I open Instagram there are like fifteen things screaming for my attention and when I get over myself long enough to start scrolling it's like. Where is my chronological dash. Where is the following-only option. Who are these people. Why are there so many videos. Everyone is screaming at me. And then before I know it I'm thirty minutes into scrolling and I haven't seen a single thing that I actually care about. At least on Tumblr when I see stuff I don't care about I know someone I follow has found a new interest.
Girls will be like Idk why im so unproductive recently and then you ask whats going on in their life and they list eight lifestopping crisies and then say 'yeah but i should be fine :/ '
Having short hair really is just
I get up. I walk into the bathroom. I glance in the mirror. My hair is posed in a brand new, never-before-seen array that defies the laws of physics.

love having a mutual who likes one specific thing. Seeing it on my dash and thinking oh yeah itās my Thing mutual
'to be loved is to be known', fandom edition: going into your friend's dms to complain about something and having them respond 'i saw that too and i KNEW you'd be mad about it'
sorry im on tumblr literally all day and reblogged your post within 43 seconds. it will happen again

Well shit, Henry Jenkins, out here in 1997 dropping truth bombs
Oh hey I need this for a research paper I'm writing, thank you!
i mean he had been out here since 1988 dropping such bombs:
"'fandom' is a vehicle of marginalized subcultural groups (women, the young, gays, etc.) to pry open space for their cultural concerns within dominant representations; it is a way of appropriating media texts and rereading them in a way that serves different interests, a way of transforming mass culture into a popular culture"
Jenkins, Henry. āStar Trek Rerun, Reread, Rewritten: Fan Writing as Textual Poaching.ā Critical Studies in Mass Communication 5, no. 2 (1988): 85ā107. https://doi.org/10.1080/15295038809366691. Ā
there are even some earlier works in fan studies but thatās what i have ready to hand.Ā
