Fjord landscape with midnight sun by Adelsteen Normann (1848-1918)
the avatar movies are crazy bc "what if colonizers literally inhabited and puppeteered the bodies of indigenous peoples in order to exploit their homeland" sounds like the premise of some sort of anticolonial horror film, like specifically the kind of thing that would be commenting on self-indigenization among white settlers, but because it's James Cameron his whole takeaway from that premise is "it would be preddy cool"
actually sorry. the takeaway is also "the white settler possessing an indigenous body would actually be extremely good, perhaps even The Best, at being indigenous, and he would become their Leader"
honestly for me this situation isnt drawing a single bead of sweat first i grab the tiger's jaw with both hands and pry it open, quickly bandaging the wounds i received (didn't hit anything important) and pushing the tiger away while simultaneously falling into my grizzly bear stance and watching as the tiger scurries away with its tail betweens its legs at the sight of my massive shoulder humps. i roar defiantly and catch three dozen salmon at the river
I'd summon twin scythes
really cool
painting of joan of arc but she's got a lil carabiner. is this anything.
she's got the key to heaven or something
Holy fuck
This works best if you keep windows closed.
Another design is using 2 20x25x1 filters, taping them to the sides of the box fan and then to each other so they sort of make a triangle, then cutting cardboard to make a top and bottom to the triangle.
This was discovered as a more effective design during the 2020 US west coast fires.

A better more efficient and odor eliminating homemade air purifier than just taping a 20x20x1 filter to a box fan. Sometimes you need to
If you live on the west coast of the United States, fire season is coming and this is vital.
We’ve been using one, and they’re great. Might try to make the double filter version this year.
theyve been doing a bunch of studies on this during the pandemic and this design is best! 4 filters and a shroud to optimize flow rate.

I’ve personally used both the flat single-filter version AND the triangular two-filter version, and based on subjective personal experience I would argue that the benefits from the second filter, both in terms of airflow and filtration, are absolutely worth it. If you need a makeshift air filter and you have two filters to work with, build the triangle (if not the box, i have no idea how good that one works but based on the info here i presume it’s a fair bit better.)
Lil funfact for the tlt fandom from a greek speaker. Alectopause is a word
You may know that 'Alecto' (Αληκτώ) as a name translates to Ceasless, as in 'merciless' or 'implacatable', etc etc. Coming from the mythological Fury. A-lecto. Un-ending.
And 'pause' (παύση) is a word. A greek word in origin.
Therefore, Αληκτόπαυση (Alectopause) is a perfectly understandable to any fluent speaker word, that means "Unending-Pause". Have a fun one with it
((I am genuinely enjoying the Pause, I would never rush the Pause, I have no issue waiting any amount of time ranging from years to forever and frankly believe Tamsyn should have More™ Pause, I just think y'all would enjoy this))

i want you all to know that there is an artist (carmen papalia) who, after he started using a white cane, assembled a 12 foot long white cane and began using it in downtown vancouver. the length of the cane made it functionally useless as a device and the only purpose it served was making him an obstacle for sighted people. dare i say… 2019 goals
therapist to sighted patient: long cane isnt real and it cant hurt you
carmen papalia:
[id: a dimly lit photo of carmen papalia using his 12 foot “long cane” piece. he walks casually behind it. the cane takes up the majority of both the photograph and the sidewalk.]
Okay I went to a conference where this guy was a keynote and he’s so fucking cool. He’s done a ton of art around disability rights. The twelve-foot cane is really cool, but here are some of my other favourites:
From the series on replacing his cane, this is one where he replaced his cane with a megaphone and would stand at intersections repeating “I can’t see” until somebody would stop and help him cross the street
Another cane replacement, this time replacing it with a high school marching band who would change the music depending on if there was something in the way or not.
A museum intervention where he got people at the MET to go through the museum with their eyes closed and experiencing touching things he’d gotten permission to touch (the floor in this image) and just exploring a visual art museum blind.
The Blind Field Shuffle, in which he has dozens of people form a conga line behind him with their eyes closed and leads them on a blind tour of the city - literally the blind leading the blind.
Wish I could find a better photo, but this is a museum gallery he curated where the works are almost at floor height, making them accessible to children, little people, and people in wheelchairs, but requiring abled people to bend down or sit on the floor in order to see them properly.
In short, this man is amazing and I love his work.
……okay, that last one is my absolute favorite
I took part in the blind field shuffle when he was in buffalo and it was incredible
oooh I get it it’s always gonna be because of the environment I grew up in
it’s because of the curse
i do think lobbying for data centres over climate goals should be considered a crime against humanity btw

I dug down pretty far in my Minecraft world and found a cavern that had been infected by the deep dark. Or in other words, free experience if you’re quiet enough.
idk why I even want experience because I always forget that enchanting tables exist but you know. Number go up.
Anyways I’m figuring out how to evict the warden and his ilk from my basement. I’m gonna bring the grass underground and then fill this place with pink sheep. It’s gonna be so noisy.
No wait I can also make blue sheep huh.
New plan. Underground transgender sheep farm. I’ve just gotta evict the warden first.
It’s still gonna be super noisy.
I am prepared to strip the land bare to get enough dirt for my massive underground sheep farm. Complete with ominous pits.
Don’t need to wait for wolves to kill your sheep when they can just fall down a hole.

“we live in an uncaring universe” yeah dude and I live in an uncaring house. and I shit in an uncaring toilet. but do you touch an uncaring lover? do you comfort an uncaring child? do you guide to sleep each night a cold and uncaring self?
please hurry up in reblogging this I wanna jorts it before someone puts it in one of those heartwarming tiktok slideshows
i was like 'what could jorts it possibly mean' but as with many things clicking the original post immediately clarified the situation
I just ate every strawberry I'm sorry
until such a time as the great gate's ancient wards are dispelled by one who is pure of heart and stalwart of bearing, yeah. sorry
